Southampton is a beautiful city. Full of attractions; a huge choice of nightlife with some of the cheapest drinks ideal for students. Being located so close to the heart of Southampton itself made it very easier for those everyday shopping trips. I love the town center there is so much to choose from and around Christmas the German market is to die for.

The city has great historical significance as well as a multitude of shops, restaurants and parks to visit. It has great transport links and is home to a well regarded university.

The nightlife is amazing, I feel generally safe when I go out and there is so much choice of things to do... cinema, bowling, meal out, shopping etc.i love the shops on the high street as well as the shops in the shopping centre, there is so much variety so there is something for everyone to buy. The food court is so full of different choices that you will be spoilt for choice.

Southampton is a city of many things. It's a place to hang out, meet up with friends. There's plenty of shopping you can do with many restaurants including pizza express, pizza hut, wagamama and more. Southampton has its own football team too, even a arena! There is a lot of places you can go without spending loads of money, the new west quay centre has many attractions including Hollywood bowling, the all new cinema de lux and much more. There is a lot of transport including trains, buses, taxi and even bike rental.

I really love Southampton as a city,it has something for everyone. I love the atmosphere of the city from the many parks that are available to walk through or read in,the two shopping centres it offers with a range of different shops and restaurants and it also has a good nightlife. I definitely made the right choice in the city to study.

Southampton is an amazing city to study in. It has everything you need and more. The town centre delivers amazing shops, restaurants and things to do. There are many parks surrounding the Uni perfect for when it gets warmer. The night life in Southampton is perfect for students especially on a budget and I would definitely reccomend Southampton as a place to study.

Really calm area, with a great lively campus. The night life is very good since there are plenty of clubs available in the city centre and also in Portswood.

Very easy to get to due to it being in the city centre.

Southampton is great. The location is brilliant because you are centre of a nice shopping centre in a well-off area. Not to mention the nightclubs are amazing. Oceana is great for birthdays.

I fell in love with the atmosphere here. It wasn’t easy but for me this was a place of real self-discovery.

There’s everything that you could want right on your doorstep. Small and large supermarkets - cheap ones like Asda Lidl and Aldi for students. Every different type of restaurant you could want including most of the popular chains and independent and quirky restaurants bars and cafes. A huge shopping centre and great high street with all the shops that you could want, along with a large number of clubs and bars fit for every different type of personality.

I chose my uni partly because of its location. Southampton is in the south which means it's decent weather, it is close to London, close to Bournemouth with its lovely beach. The city is not too big so you can get to places on foot or by a short bus ride, but it is not too small either, meaning it has something for everyone, lots of shops, pubs, clubs, cinemas... The uni itself has a great location, pretty much in the middle of the city so everything is accessible from there.

southampton is a small city with great transport links across the south coast and the rest of the city. It is buzzing with nightlife, shops and cafes for all cultural tastes. The gentrification plans show great potential. I love the parks and buzzing city vibes that remind me of my london home

Southampton is a fantastic city with plenty of activities, places and venues to check out, an ideal location for any student for an under or post graduate. Firstly, Southampton offers a wide range of day time activities to get involved in. West Quay is a shopping place like no other with plenty of high stress shops and departments stores to explore to find the thing you’re looking for. The new cinema next to West Quay also is one to check out, reclining seats who can say no?! As well as shops, Southampton has a wide range of places to stop and have a bite to eat. The new Southampton complex next to west quay has so many choices from TGI fridays to Five guys Southampton certainly offers you plenty of choice. As Southampton enters night time the city comes alive! Students and adults alike head out to all the bars on above bar street and Bedford place where not one night is quiet! For those who want to party into the night, Bedford place is THE place to be! With plenty of bats turning into clubs the drinks will certainly be flowing!

The location of Southampton is perfect for students because the city caters for students very well. As the city holds two massive universities, the town, and surrounding towns, cater well for students including student meal deals and excellent student nights out.

At first, I found Southampton very exciting! There is everything that a city needs (parks, outdoor/indoor activities, shops, restaurants, good aesthetics) but, after a while it can become boring. For me, living here became more of doing the same things with different people rather than exploring the city trying to find hidden gems.

Southampton is a great place to live as a university student or otherwise. There are lots of places to eat in West Quay and around city centre that cater for different dietary requirements and wishes. The value for money is good as there are often student deals about especially around freshers. The location is also really good as there are good transport links to amazing beach destinations like Bournemouth and Isle of Wight that make for good days out. There’s also good transport within the city with unilink buses every few minutes. There’s also a cinema on campus which is a cheap and great way to spend an evening. All in all I would highly recommend.

Very fun, lots to do. Not the safest place but not the worst. Everything is near by. Only thing is I find it a bit depressing. No sunlight due to big dull sad buildings. Not for those who get misreble easily.

Good basic ammenities - great shopping/eating out and decent night's out, and very good transport links. However, little to do otherwise - lack of cultural events on offer and general 'unique' places to go. Lots of chain stores.

Get place for shopping and eating out. Different types of shops from designer to high street. Great location, right next to the sea and good connections into London and the test of the UK.

The location of my campus was roughly a 10 minute walk across Southampton for everybody else from the main campus; but for me with a disability that disables me from walking far distances and quickly without being in huge amounts of pain, it was difficult. Luckily across from my small building, there is a car park! But £3 for 2 hours is ridiculous, especially for a student who drives from Bournemouth already and needs to be there for at least 6 hours a day 4 days a week. The only thing I liked about the location of my campus is that it is situated LITERALLY across the road from the shopping centre, meaning we are in the center of shoppers, food and luxury; too bad I was spending so much money on travel to be able to afford even a 50p item. I’ve spent this year in debt and struggling to live so hopefully next year will be better. At the main campus however, the university refused to let me park in their car park and told me to park across Southampton in the nearest car park.. I only needed a space for an hour a week for ONE lesson but they told me to go through government and get a disability badge if I wanted to park in there meaning I’ve missed all those lessons waiting for the government to sort it out. It’s very upsetting when I can’t walk far and even with spare spaces and my education at risk, the university refuse to help. 1* this year I’m afraid and that one star represents the usefulness of being next to the shopping centre.

The city is desgusting, there are rats everywhere and when you manage to avoid them you will inevitably run into a a homeless person or someone else who will then approach you for money and cigarettes and occasionally get annoyed at you of you don't oblige.

The town it self is not very nice at all, lots of tramps and people approaching you asking for money and cigarettes. The only thing there is to do here is there is a few cinemas and a shopping centre which for a city isn't that big and closes early, 8pm.

Overall Southampton has a range of things making it a very fun and social place with great night life and lots of restaurants and shopping . There’s a range of places to go for nice walks
