The university is very well connected with “Unilink” buses running from both train stations, the shopping centre, all 4 campuses and out to the airport- this makes it super easy to get around. The uni is about 20 mins or from the shopping centre/cinema/food places by bus

A humble city that in its attempts to expand and appeal, has turned into an industrial brutalist landscape filled with franchises and horrible pubs. It doesn’t quite capture the essence of a City by the sea.

A lot of eateries and absolulty stunning night life. An occasional beautiful sunset over the container terminal however these are very few between.

The shopping is amazing! There is a primark, Asda, forbidden planet comic shop and even then there are some polish shops with amazing food in and it's all cheap! Then there is the fact that the city is full of music venues which means you get to check out local music as well as being on the tour route for most bigger acts.i have managed to spend so little on going out that I have been able to save money and help local acts by buying their merch and attending more shows!

It depends what you mean by location. In terms of its closeness to student amenities: it is close to most of the big night clubs (20 minute drive furthest). It has a large city center of the same distance with a good range of shops, cinemas, bowling and many restaurants. The University itself has a good enough campus with its own cinema, shop, bars and restaurants. Additionally, you don't have to go as far as the town center to find shops, clubs and restaurants/bars etc., for all of this can be found in Portswood.

Southampton is a buzzing town, specially portswood and the student area. University makes the town lively. It has lots to do. It’s definitely not as big as London but there are various places to visit in the vicinity. Unilink buses provide great transportation. Nightlife is great - with many student nights and cheap drink deals (read: jesters)

The location of the University is amazing. The university is close to the halls, and a 5 minute, straight line walk into the town, which has a big shopping center. There’s a co-op on site of the halls which is really handy and lots of clubs, as well as lively pubs. The university is also very close to the train station, making it easy for students to commute or visit home when needed. The university is very close to eating places, as soon as you step out the university, Costa and Nando’s and many others are in front of you, as well as turtle bay and KFC to the right. 5 minute walk away is the shops, which has a whole floor dedicated to restaurants and takeaways.

Come from a bigger city so coming here felt like it was smaller and quieter. But others who came from smaller towns felt it was a big enough city for them. Depends where you’re from and what you’re used to.

Convenient shopping around uni and they’re value for money. Plenty of options to choose from for eating out and night outs

Southampton is a good city. Although it is not the biggest and most buzzing of places. Soton still has a lot to offer. Most notably, the new west quay complex with good choice of food places. However, as you move towards second and third year you tend to move closer to portswood which is further away from the city (you would most probably need a car). The nights out are good there is just a limted selection of clubs, and sometimes the club nights can become repetitive.

Southampton is very much so a vibrant and bustling city on the coast, with plenty to do and see in and around the area. The two universities in the city sees a very large student population and that there are many events tailored to student nights/evenings. The city centre comprises of multiple shopping centres as well as bars and restaurants.

Southampton Solent University is in such a central location, everything is within a 5 minute distance (walk). Student halls are about ten minutes out, and the university itself is in the town centre. There's plenty to do and the nightlife is great.

Southampton has everything you need in and around a town centre - from pubs to clubs, fancy eateries to takeaways, shopping malls to high street stores, leisure centres to cinemas. You'll find everything you need in Southampton, and it has plenty to offer - young or old! A big part of the city is its parks, which definitely make getting around nicer and prettier (especially in Spring!) Overall a great place with plenty to see and do.

The area of Southampton Solent university is quite good. There is a shopping centre close to the university with lots of food places and clubs close to the uni like oceana, switch and junk.

Southampton truly is one of the best cities in the UK. We have so much to offer! Tons of parks that are perfect for sunny afternoon barbecues by the sea. Nightlife is awesome as well, we have a multitude of clubs and bars, Revolution is a really good bar, especially because of their rooftop garden. We have a massive shopping centre with a just as big restaurant/entertainment complex with so much to offer. If you’re interested in theatre, The Mayflower Theatre is an incredible landmark in the city, a theatre that houses the latest West End shows that tour the UK. Overall, the city is a sight to behold, you definitely won’t want to miss out on our beautiful city.

This city is absolutely amazing. Very warm comparing to other cities in england, and it has an awesome and very relaxing place, Ocean Village. Student life is also amazing.

The town is okay, but there is a huge amount of homeless people and undersiarable people, in the centre of town you will be harrashed for change or cigarettes non stop, and all shops including supermarkets are closed by 11.

Southampton is a very boring town with not many cultural attractions, museums, art galleries or events. Even the restaurants are the typical chain restaurants such as Nando’s or Bella Italia. Nothing special ever happens in Southampton. Theres only one high street with the usual stores, no interesting boutiques or book stores. The nightlife is okay if you’re into commercial music and clubs such as oceana or pop world. There arent much nights with alternative djs.

There’s not much to do within Southampton, most of the fast food places are in a way disappointment. You have Deliveroo over taking the roads with their bikes.

It’s a nice location, there’s lots to do in the day and night. The fact everything is so close together removes the scary big city feeling.

Southampton is great for nights out featuring many different clubs such as Jesters, Oceana and The Edge to name a few. For the more nerdy of alcohol lovers there is also The Hobbit, a lord of the rings inspired pub which has played guest to Sir Ian McKellen and Steven Fry on multiple occasions. Southampton is teaming with a fantastic day life as well as night life with West Quay shopping centre open from early to late to enjoy a great day out shopping and having fun. If you are coming here for just accomodation then you are a little limited as to hotels however Premier Inn comes highly recommended by myself as it is close to the heart of town for easy accessibility and each room offers guaranteed comfort.

There's a lot of bus routes throughout the city, so its really easy to get around. There's a large shopping centre in the middle of town, it's got a variety of shops (some designer brands as well), there's a massive IKEA as well for when things get broken and need a cheap replacement. the shopping centre also has a restaurant district backing onto it, so lots of choice for meals out. several cinemas in the town centre, I think there's bowling as well. all in all, quite a lot to do :)
