Southampton is a fantastic location, with great transport links, shopping, eating, and nightlife! Uber, and frequent bus services makes it really easy getting around the city, and there's loads of development in the inner city, with fantastic new restaurants often popping up. Also, head down to Ocean Village for a view of the beautiful docks, and a more classy drink/meal!

Great city and I find it especially good that you can get involved at uni and then town is abit out of the way so you can go shopping too

In the City centre there's the main shopping centre West Quay, which along with the high street has a great selection of shops and restaurants. There are all the usual chain restaurants as well as some very nice independent restaurants and cafes. There are also some really nice parks in the centre to walk/cycle through or meet friends. The nightclubs aren't very big and are quite expensive but there is a good choice, the student nights are good and there is a cheap night bus back from the city centre.

West Quay in Southampton is a really good shopping centre and alongside the high street provides a really good shopping centre. There are lots of really nice parks and green spaces for cycling/walking through or meeting friends. There's a really good range of clubs in town, some of them are quite expensive but they have great student nights that are really busy. There's a night bus that runs from the city centre to campus until 3:30am which is much cheaper than getting a taxi. There's a great selection of restaurants and cafes- from all the popular chains to really nice independent businesses. Overall, it's a great place to live.

Southampton was a bit of a dive when I moved here two year but it's improved tons since then. Lots of new cafes and cool bars have opened up and there are a lot more events going on in and around the city.

Nights out are very varied here, which I think is great. There are Jesters and Sobar for cheap drinks and music that you can dance and sing along to, whilst Junk and Switch have more DJ sets and events like Retrojam. Closer to town, there are clubs in Bedford place and Oceana, which I personally am less of a fan of. The new part of westquay is great for food- loads of variety- but there are also loads of food places around the student areas in Portswood. Westquay is the main shopping area and it has most shops but there is also a high street running next to it too. Together they have the majority of the mainstream shops. There aren’t loads of things to do in Southampton as a city but there are activities like Oxygen Trampolining, The university bouldering wall, bowling, the common to have bbqs and most of these are pretty easy to get to. There are frequent buses that cover the whole of Southampton from the Hospital to the city and the airport. Being in the South, Southampton is not cheap but everything is reasonably priced.
