Southampton has a brilliant night life, as well as the shops being affordable on the high street and the new shopping district.

lots to do, very vibrant, good music scene, might need more arts, but good events, love the city centre, seems to be a lot of buses

up and coming, good night life, like the city centre a lot as there's a lot to do, good music and events, needs more art, but there is a lot already

Southampton is a fun place to live and study. I enjoy being here as you don't actually feel like your in a city! However, I do think it's dirty and not very nice to look at. The High Street is somewhere I try to avoid alot of the time as I don't like the environment there. Unfortunately the homeless seem to be a big problem for many, some claiming they can get physical towards younger members of the public, and make many girls feel unsafe, especially in the evenings.. Shopping however is really good. A wide variety of shops, which range in prices and availability. Westquay is a really lovely place, and the food court at the top serves loads of potential cheaper places to eat during the day!

Really nice sunny city with two universities hence very student friendly. There's plenty of nightlife - grimey clubs like Jesters to nicer ones like Oceana. Also shisha bars, so many restaurants and a new arcade which is fun. Nice area too - has the docks which are nice to stroll down and a fancy area called Ocean Village by the marina full of cafes, restaurants, bars etc. Good transport system to get around the city, has its own university bus service to take you around halls, campus, town, hospital, airport and train stations. Close to Bournemouth for the beach and Winchester for Christmas markets. Easy to get to the new forest which is a really lovely place to explore!

Lots to do, places to eat, shopping - all quite cheap too. Deliveroo operate in the area which is really appealing

Southampton is an improving town. It has the standard array of high street shops and restaurants as well a some good independent and local spots. The locals are pretty rough, and there are large amounts of aggressive beggars. This is reflected in the nightlife which I've never been that pushed on here (there are frequent stories of locals stabbing people and getting in fights). Unless you are in uni societies there isn't much to do around the town.

Love it. Nice vibe. Heartbreakers is cool and so is the edge. Turtle bay has 2 4 1 cocktails at certain times most days. Lists of student stuff going on always

Not that big with good food choices in some areas but could be a better asian food choice. Shopping is good but there could be more choice. The prices when eating and drinking in the city are very expensive.

Southampton is a lot of fun. Although there are the popular places to go for nights out, because there are so many bars/clubs, you can mix it up a great deal. Loads of shops, loads of resteraunts, and alot of leisure activities available.

Nights out are okay, highlight being jesters. I find Bedford place can be quite quiet most of the time! Restaurant wise it's good now that they've built watermark in the centre of town, but it's not close to the university. Rent is expensive, due to the commutability to London, so I'd say living here is bad value for money. Shopping is okay but one by one the shops are disappearing....at least there is an IKEA!

Nice place, lots of greenery and nice places to go for walks, of course the Common. Good shopping and food places in town and good for a night out too. Unfortunately there's quite a lot of rats around the parks in town but not too bad

There are many bus links throughout the city which run on time and allow you to get pretty much anywhere you need, the only problem is that there's multiple bus companies (Uni-Link, Bluestar, City Red and I think one or two more) and there isn't one travel pass that allows access to all of them- which is a bit annoying cost wise. The city centre has everything you'd need all nicely compacted and is a fairly short bus ride from the Universiry of Southampton campus, as well as Portswood, a high street closer to campus with a some good restaurants, pubs and clubs as well as a large Sainsbury's. There is a decent selection of shops and restaurants around, and quite a lot of clubs that all have their own great offers and events on different nights. The main downside is that other than shopping, going to a restaurant or going to a pub/club, there isn't a huge amount to do in Southampton, but that's in comparison to London as it's where I originally from. Overall, Southampton is a nice and compact city which is great for students and is quite nice to live in.

Southampton has a surprising amount of things to do, and is great for students. There are lots of nightclubs that have discounted days throughout the week, as well as a large house party scene. West Quay and watermark are great, all the shopping and dining you'll need with enough variety to stop you getting bored!

The city is easy to navigate. Buses go everywhere and a day rider is cheap. Westquay has everything you need and the nights out on portswood are great.

I believe Southampton has good nightclubs for going out, but would benefit from having many more bars that have a bit of atmosphere, as lots of people don't want to just go clubbing. Value for money is good, cabs are much cheaper than in neighbour coastal towns such as Bournemouth. The buses are also cheap, although the bus drivers could definitely do with being friendlier. There is a fun student atmosphere in the town but it can be a little bit rough in certain areas especially in the summer months when the students are away. The dock and port is very impressive, and Southampton has a lot of interesting history. West quay is also a useful shopping centre where you can get anything you need.

Good for students. Small enough city and everything is close by. Not a lot to do except eat out and party. But London , new forest and beaches not far away to spend the day

The amount of places to go on free periods itsi reduced. The amount of places to eat out it's quite decent! Specially with this new area of west quay!

Southampton is a great place to be as a student. It's a very lively town with a very big shopping centre. Everything is very close and in walking distance to eachother.

Southampton is amazing, it is a mixture of both a vibrant city and a quiet town. It is constantly developping and has to offer something to everyone.

I think the public transportation in our city is pretty good, lots of bus choices to travel around. Train stations are easy to reach in different part of the city (city center, portswood, airport, etc) and it takes you to London in less than 2 hours. There are good restaurants around, especially the new west-quay provides a central area you can explore your dinning choices. Though shopping choices are not much, all the major high street brands are available. Supermarkets are always within walking distance or short bus ride. Not much entertainment choices in our city, but I enjoy the events organised here from time to time.

Nightlife is average - missing a good SU and enough variety in numbers. Alcohol is cheap like at jesters and sobar. Food is class, west quay food is awesome and there is a strong deliveroo scene. transport is failrly poor, bus pass is expensive (although free for freshers). I tend to drive so petrol expenses are high. I know people who cycle which is plausible.

Southampton is a great city with lots to do, although it is a city there are lots of green open spaces, everything is fairly close by and there are lots of independent shops and cafes.

Southampton is a great city for shopping and food. The West Quay is home to many different shops which caters to a variety of people. Restaurants in Southampton are also great as there are many different cuisines to try from!
