Manchester is a great location because it covers every aspect, shopping, food, night life. You have the Arndale, Northern quarter, picaddily, oxford road, ancoats, to name a few, the list is not exhaustive, there’s something for everyone. If you want high end shopping you have selfridges, Harvey Nichols, flannels yet you also have loads of vintage and charity shops. As for food you can pretty much have anything from stone baked pizza At Rudy’s for a fiver or as much meat as you can eat at fazenda. There’s something for everyone’s budget and taste

There’s always something to do in Manchester and a lot of things are student orientated, especially on Oxford St where MMU and The university of Manchester are both situated. There’s an amazing bike lane system up Oxford St and there are a lot of free shuttle buses too which take you all around the city. In my opinion some of the best places for night life are Soup Kitchen - during the day they are a restaurant and bar with amazing healthy foods with a lot of vegan options and in the night time they open up the basement where they have underground events and gigs. Remake Remodel is a night that’s held there and sometimes in the Ruby Lounge which is always a hit - it’s a music artist specific night for example they did a Joy Division night, a Tame Impala night, an ABBA night etc.

Manchester is the place to be! All the food, all the night life, all the students! Only down fall is how dirty the city is, could be worse, but could be better!

Manchester is by far the best city you could go to, the nightlife is second to none with countless bars and good clubs. Great access to shopping whether it be food or clothes. Accommodation is expensive but you get what you pay for with the city.

Manchester is a great place to be. Bring Mancunian myself I did not expect my step from college to university to really change my outlook on Manchester at all. However, I was wrong. Manchester is a great student hub, so much to do, sport, nightlife, food, it's got the lot.

Manchester is an amazing city to live and study! You have everything at your fingertips. There's nothing like a mc Donalds at 3am in the morning after finishing a long essay! Unlimited gigs all over the city in lovely venues all the time and great bars for nights out as well.

Manchester is a great place to live as a student. Getting from your house to uni to town centre is super quick and cheap thanks to the magic bus. For the daytime, there’s loads of cool, quirky cafe spots in the northern quarter, great for meeting up with mates, and all the cafes are really friendly towards students ie student discounts and don’t mind if you set up with your books and study in there for a couple hours. In the evening, nightlife is great, especially great for LGBT community if you go to canal st, you can find everything from drag to clubs to gay bingo to gay afternoon tea, amazing! A lot of places are free entry there as well :) Being in the north as well, drinks are cheap!

Manchester is a fantastic student city. It’s “up North” so people are really friendly and living costs are low. Nights out are top quality and there’s something for everyone, plus super cheap buses to and from the city centre. The curry mile is famous for its Asian cuisine but there’s all sorts of restaurants, as well as cheap takeaways and cute cafes. I’ve lived here for four years and loved every second!

So many amazing restaurants all around Manchester, both cheap and expensive so there's always somewhere new to try. Shopping facilities are great, the city centre and Trafford centre have everything you need plus other places like chester and liverpool are easily accessible from Manchester. That's another positive Manchester has great transport links to everything, you often get cheap flights from the airport which is great for short breaks. Even though the city is big is never feels too big which is nice. It's not that cheap any more in terms of nights out and events but it is still a great place for unique nights out like pingpong bars and gaming bats, and the gay village is great.

There's something for everyone in Manchester, with a wide range of different restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Public transport is also really good.

Tonnes of places around Manchester for a night out including bars, pubs and night clubs. The Trafford Centre and Arndale are so close by if you want to go shopping, and especially nice to visit close to Christmas due to the Christmas markets, considered to be the largest in Europe. For value of money, this is one of the best places for a student since there's so much to do, even things like the BBC tour and karting are easy to get to, and it's all reasonably priced!

It’s a diverse city with lots of things to see and do. It’s got a great variety of areas, e.g the northern quarter which I would recommend. It has some cheap student bars which are good. The Trafford centre is amazing however it is a bit out of the way and you can’t quickly get there from the city centre. Salford quays and castle field and deansgate are also nice areas. There is quite a lot of crime in Manchester compared to other major cities but it doesn’t really feel less safe. Piccadilly gardens is a nice area and has lots of surrounding shops and restaurants. There is a lot of nightlife in Manchester with a variety of clubs to suit everyone

Manchester is great for those seeking city life but not too hectic. It was a great compromise coming from London, you have the diversity, excitement and pace and buzz of living in a multicultural city with great nights and lovely people with the added peacefulness of the surrounding area. Transport is as good as UK public transport can get if you don't live in London but taxis are the go to when travelling in groups as it works out cheaper. Eating out you have loads of option but food up here just isn't as nice, people aren't too fussed about incredible food up north and competitions not as high so standards are noticably lower (in terms of 'affordable' food) I can't really speak for the gourmet/fancier restaurants since as a student I obviously avoided these places. Great value for money, always something to do, really good places for shopping. Have loved every second of it

like a mini London but cheaper! Compact, makes it easy to move around and get everything sorted. Easy transport with the buses running everywhere. Nightlife is crazy!! Absolutely love it - great for student life

Manchester is a fantastic area, packed with 40k students, offering the best night outs along deansgate, a great city and centre and the capital of football. It’s the perfect city and combining it all together makes it the best place in the world.

The nights out our great, every night there is always somewhere or something to do. My favourite place to go was Antwerp but now that has closed down I prefer to go to hidden (bring on the day and night events) the food is great there is so many places to go and eat. I love going for brunch, there’s a great place called feral in northern quarter with amazing poached eggs and avocado with smoked salmon on sourdough! Shopping is my life which is good COs there’s so many shops in the centre and then also at the Trafford centre. Manchester is very good budget for students, with 1.50£ for a vodka mixer, easily only spend 10£ most on a night out. Manchester is so fun

Manchester is an amazing city to be a student in. It is easily comparable to London, but on a smaller scale, and has everything you could possibly need. The city centre has a plethora of bars, shops, restaurants, clubs and more - it screams culture on every street. A day could be made in the Northern Quarter, where record stores and cafes line the street and the mighty Afflecks could leave you with a bag of vintage wear, a tattoo or your favourite film memorabilia. At the same time, half an hour on the bus in any direction could take you to a serene countryside view, such as Heaton Park in the north or Fletcher Moss botanical gardens in the south. Manchester also has a great history of music, which is brought through in its amazing nights out. World class DJs and performers flood through Manchester weekly, not to mention the Warehouse Project which brings life to the night for 3 months a year. One of the only problems you will have is having too many options to choose from for a night out! In the student area of Fallowfield, there’s also about 10 different pubs within a 10 minute radius so a couple of pints is a great option too.

Nights out are amazing, only see certain awesome and cool experiences at Manchester, such a unique city. The clubs and food are all really good. Food in Manchester is amazing, countless number of places to eat at! A lot of things to do in Manchester, such as the trampoline parks, shopping centres, events at the area etc.
