Portsmouth as a location is very ideal for student living. Everything is within walking distance which means minimal spend on cabs. There’s a great range of shops both high street and designer. There are so many bars and clubs which offers a variety of music each night; club, alternative, house, grime etc. Quiz nights are also on at the union & bars around Portsmouth.

Portsmouth has everything a student needs, local town so easy to access shops with different choices. Many different superstores arouns the city. Plus its so easy to get around, the nightlife is always busy and most places do student nights! Travel could be cheaper but its cheaper than what it could be

Nights out are cheap and really good, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. The area is peaceful, waking up to seagulls is amazing. There is a outlet here with an abundance of sales. Everything is also walking distance.

Food is great. You can get a lot of discounts and deals for different restaurants. There are quite a few quality shops where you can buy what you need. It's nice to have student discounts.

There's nothing really around HSDC college but the lessons are cool and there's a frequent bus service

Fantastic nights out in Gunwharf and Southsea. Great access to Gosport via the ferry which is an amazing place to be. Quite noisy and a lot of undesirable people but you get what you pay for!

Best clubs are Tiger, Astoria, and Pryzm. Has Nando's, Pizza Express, Chiquito, Wagamama, Frankie & Benny's etc at Gunwharf - but no Pizza Hut :( - then plenty of other independent restaurants in Southsea. A couple of high streets with all the normal shops and obviously the designer outlet at Gunwharf is fab. There are supermarket stores - Tesco, Asda, and Lidl within walking distance of halls and most student houses, as well as lots of small Tesco and Co-Op stores for top up shops. You can go to the cinema and bowling or the casino at Gunwharf and of course there is the beach which has a couple of arcades as well well as mini golf and the funfair which is open in the nice weather. Also Spinnaker tower! Value for money seems pretty average

The locations for everything is a walking distance which is helpful but at the same time a hinderance because it gets packed like the gym

Portsmouth is a good location for uni, coming from London I was worried there wouldn't be a lot to do, Gunwharf has lots of offers for students, good events and the cinema is a decent size. Commercial Road is good for your high street shopping, and the weekly and Christmas market is fairly good. Most things are within walking distance, but Portsmouth is a very bike friendly city with plenty of places to lock up. There are lots of places in Southsea to eat and drink if you like something different and again, a fair few student deals to be found.
