Queen's University of Belfast

Very arrogant, and poor organisation. With little availability of rooms for classes. Some faculty members simply do not care for the students interest. But the Lanyon is a pretty building so that makes up for it

QUB is quite a good university but lacks in compassion compared to other universities. I feel as though QUB is a business rather than an higher education facility. It needs to go back to basics and put their students first. QUB lacks partnerships with some of the major companies where students can find the most up-to-date and factual information, i.e Mintel/Keynote etc... QUB looks really good on paper but actually attending for postgraduate I was a little disappointed. Overall I had a pleasant experience at QUB but I would not recommend doing a postgraduate in my course has it lack depth and intellectual debate.

We have a pretty brilliant student union, they organise some great activities and nights out, as well as serious stuff, like careers fairs, that is actually really helpful.

I am studying biomedical science at qub. The course is very good and the lecturers make it interesting. There is a good mix of exams and continuous assessment as well as various practical each week, which help us improve our workplace skills.

The university has great learning facilities. The library on campus is very organised, with a large selection of books, articles and first hand accounts. It also has access to a large amount of computers great for completing assignments and study areas for exam season. The lectures provided by the university differ in quality mainly due to the different lecturers leading the lectures. I believe the strength of the university's learning faculties and education process are it's seminars and tutorials which are usually full of debate and conversation about the modules undertaken and help in providing a deeper understanding of the subject at hand when lectures are sometimes unsatisfactory and fail to deliver knowledge.

Course structure been changed this year so feel as if the university is a bit disorganised but apart from that it's a really nice and clean university that is situated with plentiful restaurants and bars nearby

Whilst I appreciate that Queen's university is a Russel Group university I feel that this is all it cares about. I study English and the majority of the teaching staff are excellent. However, I think we should be given more contact hours in a week, as a lack of teaching time can be detrimental to our education but also to ones motivation. It is the fact that it has become more of a business venture than an education facility is where Queen's lets itself down. Following the UCU strike this year I feel that the student were let down greatly by the university and were wholly unsupported. We were not reimbursed for the teaching time we missed and as a result of the strike I missed 40% of my classes for the semester. This also had an effect on my grades for the classes I missed, it resulted in myself and my classmates being unsure of what was expected of us when it came to assignments. If more effort had been made to negotiate with the unions it would have been better for both the teaching staff and students. Instead management profited. Societies within the university are particularly diverse and the union are extremely helpful and accommodating if any issues arise. I love my course at the university and enjoy the texts we are set, I just feel that it would benefit from even 2-3 hours extra contact time per week.

The campus is absolutely fab, because the uni is a city uni you get the freedom and adventure of the city but as Belfast is a small city you still feel safe and close knit. The SU doesn’t offer much.

The facilities are good, everything you’d need at a uni and the SU is decent however in need of some improvement. The staff are very helpful and understanding

A great university with a few great lecturers guiding students who want to learn. The course was good although somewhat outdated for some subjects and could do with updating.

I dreamt about going to Queens ever since I was a little girl! Although my third year experience hasn’t been what I expected. The lecturers weren’t very thoughtful and they didn’t really pay enough attention to the third years as apposed to the other years.

The campus has a good atmosphere. There are top-class facilities. My course is intellectually stimulating. The students' union is convenient. The careers service is informative.

University accommodation is very close to the campus, its a small campus so all the buildings are close by and library is very easily accessed.

Great Student Union, regularly keeps students up to date on the issues they are tackling and any changes that are made to the union - great facilities including bar and music venue

What I like the most about the university is the career services, as there are a lot of opportunities for personal development through activities to improve cv. However, my course is quite disorganized, and as an international student it's a bit hard to interact with the locals.

I am honoured to be a part of such a prestigious university. I love learning here and we have an amazing library, sports facilities and a brilliant location. I have enjoyed my course and getting involved with clubs and societies.

Strike action left students without lectures and very disadvantaged, marking was very strict in comparison to UU, facilities were good

The campus is put together very well with most facilities being within a 10 minute walk. The WiFi could be reworked as I struggle to connect in some parts. Very good SU, with a decent bar with cheap drinks and a hall which can facilitate concerts below.

The university is overall very good but first year isn’t great. The uni halls are a long walk away from the uni which is awful in winter when it is icy. Also people who live in the surrounding area go home every weekend leaving halls very empty and lonely. The gym is good but again a bit of a walk from halls. It is better from second year onwards as you live closer to the uni site and houses are very very cheap. I was worried being English that I could face some discrimination but this is very very rare. The centre of the city is great with lots of shops restaurants and bars as if the student area. It is a shame the student Union is being knocked down for three years as that will be a real loss. Overall I would very much recommend Queens.

the campus is quite nice, but the facilites are quite old, for example the student union, I don’t think the student union has done anything to try to improve the lives of students. Besides, the efficiency of the staff in my course are disappointing. But overall, people and staff in my school are nice and friendly.

Before beginning should not that I go to Stranmillis University College of Queens University! So this means your degree is through queens but in stranmillis as it is teaching. Overal id say the facilities of QUB library and Stranmillis library are very good. The university definitely has a lot of ways of meeting new people and living in the halls of residence was a great idea and was a lot of fun and I met some brilliant people. I would however say that the course can drag on a bit through the years. Each year it’s the same sort of thing and sometimes can be a little boring. Some of the lecturers are fantastic and help out a lot, whilst others do not help or are as quick to reply.

Campus is stunning and the library is so expansive and has absolutely everything you could ever need. The nightlife is amazing and so so cheap.

Great location, on the outskirts of Belfast city centre. Generally very knowledgable and reputable teaching staff.
