Happy and friendly university campus with helpful lecturers. Course isn't as enjoyable as anticipated

Cardiff University has wonderful facilities to cater to all students, the skills centre and careers services are particularly noteable! I have always felt supported throughout my time here! The students union is enough to draw ANYONE to Cardiff! As well as being a nice modern space to do work or socialise! The nights out here are by far the best in Cardiff! Student friendly prices and atmosphere, I could not fault it! I would find very little negative things to say regarding my time at Cardiff Umiversity.

Studying optometry at Cardiff has been amazing. The building we study in is brand new and all our lectures are in the same building.

Great university! Excellent facilities in main campus, great night life and events run by the student union! There’s always something to do! The union send weekly job alerts for those looking to work alongside their degree. Very supportive and have great facilities for learning including 24 hour library access.

Overall a good uni but needs to make more effort in regards to exam scheduling and material provided by lecturers.

Great university with some amazing teaching staff. Have good facitlities and lots of computers for all students. However, some lecturers can be a bit stuck up and have terrible teching techniques but thats only a small few. I also love to location, right in the center of cardiff so is amazing. I also like the look of the uni itself, its very beautiful and looks very appealing. I would reccommend this university as its also part of the Russel group which shows a very good research background so can be helpful in your learning

Such a great university - Cardiff is a brilliant city to live in. There’s always something going on in the SU, and my course is great!

Outstanding university. Amazing staff and facilities. Loved every moment in this bustling city. Highly suggest any fresher to go to the Taf, Coco Gelato and Cafe 37. Unbeatable.

Nice city campus but some uni halls are too far away from the buildings. Should have more 24 hrs library and common study area and sports facilities but overall still a good place

Good university with good buildings on the campus. The lectures are very well laid out and the lecturers themselves are very good.

Cardiff uni is GREAT! You have all of the benefits of living in a capital city with awesome venues, nightlife and history but compacted into a tiny city. The university buildings are a beautiful mix of grandeous, old school buildings and modern, high tech facilities. I think the student population is somewhere around the 30,000s meaning that the general atmosphere walking around Cardiff is very friendly and inclusive. The students union is giant! I mean it’s really big, it even has a railway line going through it! Cardiff uni is amazing and I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else.

city university where the buildings are spread out all within about 10 mins of each other. Lovely su with a coop, Starbucks, tossed, falafel place, noodle place, WHSmith

The university and its buildings are excellent! All the lectures and tutorials are organised perfectly and the business school which is where I study is premium! However, the only thing some of the lecturers and tutorial leaders (who are usually PhD students) are quite tricky to understand due to their foreign accent. With a fast course this can sometimes be hard to deal with! Other than that cardiff university is perfect and a great place to be.

Fantastic uni, very supportive and offers a lot of aid for students in many different ways. The only downside is their lack of organisation in some areas, which they are working on.

Most of the lecturers are really good at what they do. The facilities are good. The course is full on but it is just enough that it's not too much. I've received a ton of help from the university with bursarys, etc. Because I came from a poorer background and it has been such a help.

Amazing university but not enough support for struggling students. Whether they’re struggling with the course itself, or funding. There just does not seem to be enough support or resources available.

I studied sociology at Cardiff University. Both the course and university are great, as the universities facilities are fantastic and the course lecturers were very helpful.

Very good university with a fab psychology department. However the strikes have been a downfall this year.

I’m a first year law student at Cardiff University, and I must admit my experience so far has not been what I was expecting. On the open days the university made a big hype about how excellent the teaching here is. But after two semesters, I’m certain I have taught myself more than the actual lecturers. On the first week they admitted the law course was more independent learning based, which is fine, but as I’ve discovered, the course is a tad bit too independent. I have spoken to fellow students in my course and they feel the same way. There is not enough support given to understand particularly hard topics either. I have resorted to the use of the internet to help me understand these particular topics. Not only that, but due to the strikes that have taken place this year, some of the lecturers have told us to teach ourselves the topic from a PowerPoint they have uploaded. This is disappointing as well as annoying, because this is not what I’m paying £9000 a year for. Not only that, but for other topics we have missed, the university has not come to a decision as to whether they will be included in our end of year exam, which is even more frustrating! Tutorials that have also been cancelled due to the strikes, the tutors have emailed, stating that they will not be rescheduled. This is unfair and gives some students a disadvantage, as not all of the tutors were striking, so some tutorials went ahead as normal while others were cancelled. These tutorials are designed specifically to help us understand the work better and ask questions if need be. It is because of that reason some students now have a disadvantage. I’ve been heavily disappointed with the teaching, as it does not reach the standards the university was making it out to be. The only excellent lecturer I’ve had this year is Cathy from the criminal module. She is excellent and actually provides additional information when lecturing, instead of just reading off a PowerPoint. Another disappointment is the Law Society. It costs £18 for a membership for a year, and since I started in September there has only been three socials. This is disappointing as the purpose of these socials was to meet others in the course, yet we’ve hardly had the chance to! I must admit, the society is excellent for arranging events to meet with law firms, but this seems to be the only benefit of joining this society. I have already decided I will not be joining again next year, as I do not believe it is worth the money. Aside from this, the facilities at the university are good. The student union is excellent and always holds lots of events. I would suggest for future students, if you’re not particularly fond of intense individual learning, then Cardiff University is not the best place for you. If I was told this before accepting my offer, I would have reconsidered going to this university.

Great city, but not enough consideration for students at university, languages degree is very poor and is not devoted enough to the language taught.

amazing university, the course is structured perfectly with respectable and determine staff who provide plenty of support. The Student union is a major component to why Cardiff University is so great. It provides a wide range of facilities and uses from a pub, co-op, post office to 2 hall rooms perfect for events and Venues. The nightlife is fantastic in Cardiff and it's a perfect size city to travel on foot with plenty of beautiful sites such as Cardiff bay and Bute park to increase the city's beauty and heritage
