Edinburgh has a range of something for everyone. There is a lot of cultural activities, museums, galleries, history etc. The nightlife is varied - there's a good selection of nicer clubs and bars on George street and also a range of cheaper alternatives in cowgate/grassmarket.

Fair few things to do, lots of shops and places to eat. Sometimes pretty busy but same as anywhere. Can be expensive but plenty of cheap options also

The University of Surrey campus is located at the heart of Guildford and is within the vicinity of the train station, town centre and a 24hr Tesco. The town centre has a huge range of shops meaning you can get almost anything last minute from there, as well as cater your taste buds to practically any cuisine you can imagine. At night there is a range of pubs and bars that see quite a student few pub crawls throughout the year, with a couple of fairly average nightclubs. Properties in Guildford are above average making accommodation prices in Guildford expensive and comparable to those in London. Trains to London Waterloo run several times an hour, so you can get into the Capital with ease for a night out or concert. Locally, transport runs frequently between town, main campus and the two other residential campuses and are great value for money for those buying student season passes. Overall living in Guildford is great for those wanting a taste of the traits that a big city can offer, with a twist of countryside infused available for your choosing. However, these benefits won't run cheap.

Firstly, unless you’re a member of the royal family and have millions of good old £’s at your disposal, being a student here is a right struggle. I have studied here for four years and the cheapest rent I have paid is £420 without bills... it has increased by a fair old bit each year so currently paying a hefty £600 with bills. Considering student finance doesn’t account for this, it means working a job alongside your degree (unless you’re a millionaire or have very kind parents). That being said, everything from a weekly shop at the local co-op to the double gin & coke’s on a night out will set you back. It is home to the student union club “Rubix” with the same old songs and first year lads drunk on VK’s and trying to hit on you.. but it’s still a great night out with the right people! Then we have “Thirteen” which literally costs £13 to get in and then about £7/8 for a single spirit & mixer... but failing that, there’s a spoons and several lovely pubs / cocktail bars which are probably the safest bet! Overall, it’s a beautiful “pride & prejudice” type location with lovely scenery and ideal spots to sit and read a book. If you’re after a location where you don’t have to live out of your bank overdraft every day then this isn’t the place for you.

Guildford is an amazing town to have been a part of. It has amazing shops and great places to eat. There are also great places to go and explore, like the castle, and beautiful walks to be had do b the river. There are a selection of clubs in town, and ther is also one in university itself. However, living costs are high here, which is perhaps the greatest downfall. Overall, it’s a great experience to live here.

The nightlife is mildly limited and the clubs not super varied but you can still have an awesome night out and the ‘spoons has a dance floor. The town itself is nice and quiet and very charming in parts. Campus is the beft part of being at uni in this town, it’s so lush and green and very much separate from the town so you feel a great atmosphere and spirit and vibe from the hustle and bustle on campus form your fellow uni students.

The University of Surrey located in Guildford is an ideal location for students wanting to study at a top class university near London. The nighlife in and around Guildford has a lot to offer and if thats still not enough, Waterloo is only a 30 minute train ride!

The University of Surrey is a campus university set just outside the town centre for Guildford. Surrey is famous for it’s UNESCO-world heritage Surrey Hills, which you can get to easier by car. The campus itself is a beautiful place built on a hill with its own lake and cathedral at the top of the hill. In between the stag hill campus ( the main campus ) and manor park ( accommodation campus ) there’s a million pound, high-quality sports park, a hospital and a Tesco store. The other side of campus leads to the main train station, which is just a short 30-40 minute journey into central London! The town centre is fairly small with not a lot to do. There are a few nightclubs, a castle ruin, a cinema, shops, but lots and lots of restaurants. A lovely, quote town not far from London.

University of Surrey is in a fantastic location being close to London. However, Guilford is very expensive on a student budget. It is hard to find cheap places to eat, shop, and hang out. I would love to be downtown more, but I can't even think about going into any of the shops because they are out of my price range. Also, most everything closes at 6-7pm. Which is insane when you think of all the uni students who stay up studying. I can't even order takeaway past 11pm.

Guildford, well the university itself great! But the night life, not so great. There’s two clubs that’s right, only two and their not even amazing. Whereas the location itself is so nice, such a nice area but a bit pricey as it is close to London! As it is ranked top 3 the people there are definatley geeky so don’t expect everyone to want to go on a night out with you.

Situated in the heart of Guildford town centre, the University of Surrey is in a prime location for exploring the Cathedral, shops, bars, and much more that Guildford has to offer. The University’s SU provides trips for students and includes an on site club primarily for the students which is a good way to socialise and meet new people from all walks of life.

Very good location, 10 minutes walk from the town centre, right by train station- 5 minute walk and most accomodation is right on the campus not far from lecture halls

Half hour train from London, which is very convenient! Also close to Gatwick airport. Very pricy town, nightlife isn't as great for students but some options are available. There are lots of places to eat, however needs more affordable clothes shops (like h&m for example). I do like Friday and Saturday fruit and veg market in town, some areas of Guildford have a nice, old feel to it. Nice surrounding green areas and hills. I do wish there were more attractions, like galleries. We have an Odeon and a tiny theatre. But my favourite place is Surrey sports park. So many facilities and all included in student membership which I think is very affordable. Buses are pricy, but I do understand that this is due to high congestion rate.

The countryside and greenery is fantastic. Never short of a walk! Town is very cramped and not really built for the number of people that are in Guildford. Transport links are fairly good and the short distance to London (train/car/coach) makes it even better. It has it's faults but I wouldn't change it and love Surrey.

The access to London from Guildford is extremely good and convenient, it’s a 30 minute train journey and not very expensive. The high street has a lot of nice shops, a mix of high end and normal, there’s loads of places to eat and a pretty good place for a shopping day. The overall city is a little bit boring as it’s not that large and there isn’t many things to see. The clubs are few and far between, the night life could be better. Drinking in any of the clubs is far too expensive so it’s good there is a spoons across the road with cheap food and drink.

The location is great for a university campus. It is a good environment for studying away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. At the same time, it is close to London - 35 minutes by train. The nature is beautiful and green having lots of hills and animals. Everything is within easy walking distance and they are many means of transport.

The location is perfect for a university campus. It is a beautiful city and everything is within easy walking distance. This is the best environment for studying away from the histle and bustle of the big cities. At the same time it is close to London - 35 minutes by train. It has mild climate as it is located in the southern part of the country.

Guildford is the best place to go if you enjoy good music and nature. There’s so many nice places to go and sit outside and the people there (especially ACM students) are so lovely and easy to get on with. The nightlife is awful and haven’t been anywhere other than Spoons and Komo but you don’t need to go clubbing to have a good time. Just friends and music.

Top location, absolutely love it close to london so handy would definitely recommend to all brilliant

Guildford is a really pretty town, albeit quite expensive. There's plenty to do here for sport with Stoke park and the Spectrum. Loads of great restaurants. Nightlife is pretty good and there's always gigs on because of the music college here. And the close proximity to London is great, 40 minutes at you are at Waterloo station!

The university is very good with a good night life good food around the area lots of new development and is a fantastic great place and is amazing for an all round university experience

The town of Guildford is really pretty and is nicely connected to central London. However the lack of: variety in night clubs, affordable activities and facilities available for students deducts a few stars.

The location and the population of the area the uni is in, is very satisfying for me. Also my course isn't found in every university.

Guilford is an excellent location - especially for students moving to uni for the first time. It is half an hour out of London, but with quiet countryside surroundings, so whether you want busy city life or a quiet connection with nature, both are on the doorstep. Transport is amazingly reliable and cheap for students, and uber also operates here which is exceptionally handy. Night life is student-fuelled and offers everything from cheap drinks and cheesy tunes in spoons to full raves in bar thirteen or cocktails in KoKo.
