Guildford is a really lovely town. I think its a good size, not too big that you have to walk for ages to get from one side to another but large enough that it's got every type of shop that you could ask for. There is the friary centre which is the main shopping centre that has all the usual shops such as topshop, zara and Hollister. Then as you walk up the high street the shops become more expensive brands. There are also lots of food places to go to such as nandos, waga mamas and gbk so there's a good range for everyone.

Good range of restaurants, a fair range of shopping. Would say the main downside is the people, not particularly friendly. Nightlife is good.. ish. If you're looking for somewhere bigger it's close to London so that's a plus

Guilford is beautiful and thrilling in many aspects, the cobbled high street has enchanting little coffee shops and hidden side-streets, the nightlife offers a huge variety of nightclubs, refined bars and old fashioned pubs and the centre has numerous shopping centres and restaurants.

Shopping is great, quite expensive though, but to be expected in Surrey. Nights out are quite good and you're close to London.

The clubs are great fun, but not particularly good or different. The Wetherspoons turns into a nightclub most evenjngs, and bar 13, pop world and Casino offer a fun night, but are often overrun by locals. Koko, Alley Bar and All Bar One offer a nice alternative for some evening drinks. There is a wide array of restaurants, pretty much every chain has a restaurant in Guildford. Guildford also has all the essential clothing shops students may need, although it could do with some cheap homeware stores such as Wilkinson or B and M. Overall it is a nice student town, with good rail connections and a vast array of shops and restaurants. The night life is fun but nothing outstanding.

Guildford is quite a small and quiet town, with nice shopping and food. There is however little to no night life and it isn't for the easily bored.

Guildford is a very nice and pretty city, however it is not really equipped well for students. Which doesn't make much sense since a massive amount of the population are students. Transport is weak around the area, buses are massively unreliable and traffic is horrendous pretty much constantly due to the one way system. Food and food choices are a plenty in Guildford which is great, always plenty of options. However the McDonald's is inside the friary Center, which means you can't get drive-thru. Always weird for a student town not to be able to get drive-thru, or at the very least a post night out maccies. Finally, taxis are too expensive. But for older people the town is lovely, and there is a lot of things to explore, the mount, the back alley pubs, the Alice in wonderland statues.

Guildford has a great night life and there's plenty of opportunities for great evenings with family or with friends. Zizzis is especially great with good value for money and good for the whole family. Bar thirteen is so much fun.

Nights out are alright, I find drink and food prices rather high though. It would be a lot nicer for places to be open later than 3am. A drive-thru and a 24hour McDonald's (for example) is what is missing the most. I think especially since there are 4 major centres of higher education (Surrey Uni, GSA, PPA, ACM) that these facilities would be much desired and used.

Guildford is a great town. Safe, comfortable and very easy to get around. Plenty of shops and very nice restaurants and bars. If you are looking for a very English experience then it's great, and it's on the doorstep of London, some stunning countryside and the south coast!

The night life can get a bit stale after a while but there are plenty of pubs which is good for a crawl! The vast majority of the food and resturants in guildford are amazing, and do a wide variety of food from around the world. the shopping centre (the friary) is awesome for food and clothing. My only criticisms are the lack of things to do after a while and everything is rather pricey.

Guildford is easily accessible and is a vibrant town with many shops and restaurants. There are a good number of bars and 3 main nightclubs in town. The town is fairly expensive however due to it being a commuter town in Surrey.

Lovely location but limited nightlife. Some shopping and good restaurants with a wide variety to choose from. Campus is close to town which makes it very convenient for students to visit. The castle is also a great place to sit and relax.

Everything is extremely close to my uni. The train station is literally 30 seconds away with a 45 minute travel time to london.

Location was one of the main things why I chose to study in University of Surrey - Guildford is extremely beautiful town and has everything a typical student would need - beautiful parks to study or chill at, campus, lots of shops to do some shopping etc. Night life isnt the best, but London is just 30mins away by train!

The area is quite nice and if you're in the right spot the views are amazing and there are some awesome places to relax. It's not the cheapest of places which is a downfall and there are very few nightclubs so once you've been a few times it gets a bit dull. The people in the area are so friendly though and always willing to recommend great places to eat.

Though Guildford is considered expensive by all (it’s hella expensive), it’s very scenic and has amazing green areas you can visit. The shopping centres are also pretty decent and I hear the nightlife is great although I can not confirm this. It’s a stones throw from London which makes commuting extremely easy.

Guildford is best for bars and shopping rather than clubs. Can be quite quiet but is a nice town to live in!

Guildford has to offer almost everything you need in a sole town: the biggest brands, a good variety of restaurants and many different bars and clubs for all tastes. His proximity to London also makes it the perfect place to live if you’re looking for both tranquility at times but also lots of fun at easy reach.

We have spoons, maccies, violent hobos whats not to love, over priced housing, a ratty train station, a Cex and a poundland

The location of the uni is really convenient, there is a night club on campus 2 minutes away from student houses, it's about 20 minutes walk from Tesco which is also not bad and 10 minutes walk from the station and city center.

Location is fab. It is a campus uni with a lovely lake and lots of places to sit outside. Near the town which has lots of shops, places to eat, a cinema and clubs. Also 30 mins from London on the train. Lovely town to be in.

Guildford is a nice town on 30 minutes by train or 1 hour by bus to London. One of the reasons why I chose Guildford is because I was told that it is very close to London but the prices (especially of the houses) are much cheaper than London, however this is not so true. A double room in a house which is not that close to the centre starts from £550pm and I even have friends paying £750pm. However, the transport links are good but if you are going by coach to most of the places you need to make a change in London in order to get to, for example, Stansted Airport, Cambridge or Manchester. The buses half of the time are late so if it is in a walking distance and you are in a rush, just walk it or uber it! The main clubs are Bar Thirteen, Casino and Rubix (University of Surrey). Casino frequently has rapers coming to perform live and has 2 floors of different music genres, Bar Thirteen also has two floors but it is a bit smaller, Rubix has parties every Wednesday and Friday when it is absolutely packed, as well as on a Reggaeton night! In terms of shopping, the only mall is the Friary Center where there is not much but enough such as Zara, Topshop, Primark and food hall. There is Odeon Cinema and Spectrum where one can play bowling, swim or go ice-skating. However, there are so many different types of restaurants and bars where you can catch up with friends or even make new ones, which is the biggest advantage!

The campus is very green and has some beautiful, natural spots to relax in such as a lake. The location of the campus is very good for transportation - close to London via train, close to the M25 to get to various London airports and the amount of buses, taxis and ubers suits the town's demand. This is also a great place for business prosperity and overall the campus is located in a great place for student work and placement opportunities.
