There are various food places in town, limited halal options though. There are plenty of shops, with the town centre being pretty aswell. However, there is a lack of things to do in Guildford, usually have to travel out to Woking or London. Guildford as an area is also quite expensive. Despite this, Guildford is beautiful and a very calm place to live so would recommend for people who like a quiet time but don't mind travelling a bit for a fun time.

Guildford is not a big city but neither small. Calm, peaceful, I feel safe waling alone at night. 50% of teen here are university students from elsewhere, especially if you stay near the University of Surrey. Houses are expensive tho. It is not a cheap city since it is just 40 minutes away from London by train. A room can be 500-650 a month per person. Eating out is not cheap either. Night life is okay. There aren't too many nightclubs but you can still have fun with the right people.

Guildford is all around a completely lovely town, in Surrey. It is home to the University of Surrey as well as the Guildford School of Acting, as well as plenty of sixth form colleges and further education centres. The main high street, and ‘Friary’ shopping centre, are certainly two highlights. Not only is the High Street an aesthetically pleasing location for a day of shopping, but the town centre altogether offers a great deal of shopping opportunities. For bargain hunters, there’s TKMaxx, Primary and Poundland. There are department stores, such as House of Fraser and Debenhams, and plenty of mainstream clothing shops, such as Topshop, Hollister, Urban Outfitters, Next, New Look and many more. There are plenty of drugstores, including Boots and Superdrug, as well as more upmarket places to shop, such as Jo Malone and Cath Kidston. The town boasts plenty of unique, individuals boutiques too. There’s plenty of choice when it comes to a meal out. From Jamie’s Italian and GBK to Five Guys and Burger King, there’s so many places to choose from, catering to all different kinds of dietary needs, lifestyles and budgets. While there are some options for a good night out in Guildford, it’s probably not your average Leeds or Manchester party city. For some good cheesy tunes there’s PopWorld, and for more modern music Casino is available. Thirty3Hz is also a good shout for the more pop amongst us. Guildford does however have many very good bars and pubs, including the Brit, so a pub crawl is always a welcome alternative. With great train connections to both London and Brighton, a wild night out is never out of sight. Culturally, the town also has a lot. GSA perform shows that are regularly open to the public, and there are also two other theatres in the town centre - The Yvonne Arnold and the Electric. They offer touring productions, panto, regional musicals and plays and comedy nights, finding something for everybody’s taste. Set in the Surrey Downs, you needn’t travel far to see beautiful green hills and trees, offering plenty of beautiful walks and cycle rides for the summer. With its open spaces too, Guildford really does have a lot to offer.

Guildford is a great student town, loads of shops and places to eat. Night out is ok as long as you’ve got a good group of people with you! It can be quite expensive to live though.

Lots of nice pubs which are cosy for just chilling with friends etc, equally the 3 main places to go clubbing are popworld, bar thirteen and the casino. There are lots of nice cocktail bars etc too. Wetherspoons lol... Night life is pretty average, but O.K. Then again you probably didn't/wouldn't choose to come to Guildford as a town purely for the nightlife so it will probably be fine. The town has all major places for eating out (wagamama, nandos, GBK etc etc) and shopping is really good too; everything is close by in the town so you don't really need to travel further afield for anything unless you want to. Also, location wise, it is on the commuter belt; transport is pretty good, and you are only around a 30 min train journey from central (London waterloo), yet not part of the London madness. However it is expensive - prices are only fractionally cheaper than London, like any big city - yet it is not classed as a city. Can be a little boring; there is not loads of hustle and bustle and free events and things to do outside of the town (and if there are, it isn't marketed so that everyone knows it is going on).

Guildford is a somewhat alternative town with heaps of character and chavs as well as lovely country folk who just want to mind their own business. Ahhh yes the highlight of the town is of course the gorgeous castle grounds which is inundated with weed being silenced by youths. Excellent.

Variety of places for food, great shopping experience including high end and low end shops. A variety of things to do including the leisure center.

Whilst acclaimed for being one of the more lovely towns of England, Guildford lives up to this however it is very expensive and uncommercialised. The chains here are located inside the mall which shuts at six and there are only 3 or 4 clubs. Although, there are an abundance of restaurants that are open until 10:30 every night of the week and the university is in a great place as it is on the town centres doorstep. The amount of students here make it a great place for landlords and business owners. Surrounding Guildford are many rolling hills and picturesque walks which make it great for the older generation who may enjoy a different kind of leisure. To its merit, Guildford has the Spectrum which is a leisure centre with bowling swimming and ice skating all only a shuttle away!

I had a lovely time studying in Guildford. The campus is lovely and if you live in student halls, everything is in walking distance. The best part about Guildford is the sports park, which you can become a member of very cheaply, as it is linked to the University. Nightlife is fairly good as there are plenty of pubs around and the twon feels safe at all times, however, if you're looking for a proper night out London is only a 30min train ride away. The town center offers all the typical high street shops, but again, London is easily accessible if you want an even bigger selection.

Good nights out, with so many places to choose from to eat and shop! Beautiful area, so vast even just to go for a walk

Nights out are not exciting in this city. There are plenty of places to eat including a great Greek and burger place. Shopping is also great and it is easy to travel in Guildford. I rarely used bus with walking and cycle as my main transport. Accommodation/flat costs may be pricey but some of you may be very lucky and find a good place for a good price. I'd also recommend finding a job in the local high street. Great alongside study and good to give back.

The shopping centre is good but should be open later and I think there should be more to do for young people. For example more youth clubs. Busses should be cheaper

Guildford has a great range of restaurants and shops but has only 3 not so great clubs so the night life is not good compared to other places. As it is just outside London there are easy transport links which means there is lots to do but also means it can be very expensive to live here. Rent has risen and it is a lot more than what my friends paid at Universities located away from London. The cheapest and only supermarket within waking distance is Tescos and the near aldi or lidl is a 15 min + car ride away so grocery shopping can also be expensive and something to think about when considering Guildford. I really like how green Guildford is compared to other towns. There are many walks and there is a fantastic view of the town from a hill.

I love Guildford town, there's more around here than I thought in terms of activities during the day but I think their transport could be more reliable and a bit more clubs and bars.

There is a Wide range of eateries, and shops, and nice walks but a lot of traffic and unreliable buses. Too many chavy people around , resulting in a unsafe nighttime experience

Guildford is full of great places to shop, eat and drink. The pubs are lovely and one of them even has a little dance floor. It is full of friendly people and is very lively on weekends and weekdays. The town centre is a very short walk from the station and you come across a beautiful river on your way to the town centre. There are also many other attractions. It's a great place to visit and has something for everyone.

it has a good night out with a few choices of clubs and has good restaurants ranging in price. There is a wide variety of shops in and outside of the shopping centre also with a variety of prices and styles.

There isn't a good night life in terms of clubs, however there are a range of good bars and clubs that you are able to go. Shopping is good!!!! However some shops cannot be found . It's a beautiful town and is well worth the money spent down here.

Guildford is a really nice, fairly small town. Although there are many students due to the university being so close, it has a relaxed atmosphere. There are plenty of places to go for a meal (such as Tortilla, Wagamama, Nandos, FiveGuys aswell as all the classics and plenty more). There are also plenty of shopping centres (shops include a trusty Primark, River Island, HMV etc.- all sorts). Regarding a night out, it really depends what you're after. The local spoons is large and usually very lively and there are clubs such as Popworld, Bar 13 and the Casino (though this last choice may not be a recommendable one). Value for money is reasonable and pretty much the same as that in London in the grand scheme of things.

we haave a lot of restaurants and bars. there are also many other things to do such as ice skating, bowling, shopping... the town is plenty of students so there is a lot to do.

Good range of restaurants and the night life is ok. Obviously you can go to London if you want something more exciting I guess. If you're with good friends then Guildford nights out are good

It has a mixture of student bars but more selective places to go out. Bar Thirteen is great on weekends and Kokomo but also quirky pubs such as Pews. Guildford has pretty much everything you need as a student and truly is the best town in Surrrey.

Lovely place to live but very expensive with little decent nightlife. A nice mix of countryside and town with useful links into London.

Guildford is a relatively safe and quiet town. The nightlife does not boast a huge range of options, however the Surrey Students' Union club is excellent. There are many restaurants, bars and pubs all located within a close range. This provides a great opportunity for youngsters like myself to socialise and engage with others.
