We all know exercise is the key to good mental and physical health. So, how can you make exercising work when you're stuck at home?

With gyms, swimming pools, and other outdoor spaces off the cards thanks to the pandemic, many of us are struggling to stay active. Well, here’s the good news: you can still keep fit from the comfort of your own home!

Here are some of the best ways to keep your body and mind active:

Try yoga

Yoga is great for awakening the body and mind. It’s easy to get into, as all you’ll need is a yoga mat. There are loads of different practices to choose from; there are even exercises you can do in bed! Start with the simple exercises, before moving on to the harder stuff when you feel ready. Once you get going, you’ll feel energised and refreshed.

Do sit-ups

Sit-ups are easy to do, as all you need is motivation and time. They’re so easy that you can even do them while participating in other activities. Do a few sit-ups next time you’re waiting for your food to cook to make the most of your time. It will stave off hunger and keep you fit at the same time.

Try some online workouts

Plan an exercise routine and look for some online classes. There are so many to choose from, so try a few to see which you prefer. Depending on how you prefer to train, you can either jump into some hands-on live sessions, or take things at your own pace with a pre-recorded workout.

Change your habits

To really make the most of your fitness journey, try making changes to your daily routine. If you live upstairs, try taking the stairs instead of the lift. When shopping, you could treat your shopping bags as weights by balancing them on each arm. Use your imagination!

Exercise while doing other activities

Whether you’re grinding out your next deadline or binging out on the latest Netflix shows, it never hurts to break things up with a bit of exercise. If you’re working using the Pomodoro Technique, you could do some press-ups or sit-ups during your five-minute break, to keep yourself stimulated.

Wherever you’re exercising, remember to eat well and drink plenty of water for the best results.
