Stoke-on-Trent

The location isn't too bad as the uni campus is one of the main reasons why I stay in Staffordshire but the city has a bit of a slum feel. Many supermarkets like Sainsbury's, Lidl and Iceland. But so much traffic. Most people tend to leave here for nights out and other entertainment.

Honestly the town centre is a long walk away. The closest shops produce is always moldy and buses cost an arm and a leg! Only good thing is the train station which is on your doorstep.

Nights out are a hit or miss for a good time, if it’s busy with an event on its good, student night is good but otherwise it’s not exactly the best. There is nothing really to do in stoke on Trent unless you have care, if you don’t be prepared to walk or not go anywhere. Shopping is surprisingly good we have an intu potteries with lots of shops including the popular ones like river island, topshop, new look etc... Food in Stoke is average there are a lot of restaurants around but again unless you can drive to some of them as there are out of the way. Intu potteries has a good court which is close for everyone which includes Nando’s, coast to coast and 4 other restaurants.

The night life is alright the uni is alright and the food and plaes to eat is alright. Just the town that is an absolute utter sh*t hole. Never come to Shelton but Fenton is okay.

The town is a little lackluster with few places to visit on a night out. The usual is Boston Brothers then to Fiction, but if you go on the wrong nights be ready for an empty club. The town offers a few good restaurants near the cinema, but not much variety other than your generic pizza places or nandos. Shopping wise, there's a good variety of shops in Potteries. Can't knock them. Still do most of my shopping online

Intu shopping centre in itself is very good. There's a good variety of shops and restaurants including a cinema too so it's a good place to visit. In Hanley high Street, there are also some good shops worth visiting. It feels like Stoke ends there though. The rest is dingy, run down and doesn't feel safe at night, especially the residential streets that surround the Uni.

it’s only a bus journey to the city centre where you’ll find aldi, Lidl, Morrison’s and a Sainsbury’s. There’s also many other shops and a mall with different food locations, a bus cinema (amazing prices) and bowling. This is all 10-15 minutes away from Keele campus. Hanley shopping centre is absolutely amazing (45-50 minutes on bus) is has everything you need and it’s really big. Only thing about location is you could walk to Newcastle city centre to go shopping but it’s a 30-40 minute walk depending on how slow or fast you are. Not that ideal but otherwise it la very good

Stoke is a developing city with new things 1 all the time. The areas surrounding the university are a little rough but no worse than anywhere else. Hanley town centre has plenty of choices for nights out, there are many chic cocktails bars and restaurants and a variety of clubs that do cover almost anyone music choice, there is a classics cheesy 80s club or a more modern dance club. With a large shopping centre there is everything you could need close all very close to the univeristy.

Shopping in the area is good with Hanley having the intu centre which has an array of stores. However the main downside is the nightlife, there's few places to go and even then these are expensive. Not much to do in the area without having a car.

They have a good Tescos (it's open 24 hours except on a Sunday). I also like that there's McDelivery. However, any other time I go outside my flat I feel like I'm going to get murdered.

Although Stoke is not a small city, I feel that it is quite empty and abandoned, many shops are closed down, there are rubbish and litter on the roads. While I thought that Birmingham, where I am from is ugly, I feel like Stoke beats that by far.

The location of keele is absolutely amazing, it is set in a beautiful place with lots of green surroundings! Really close to all the shops and clubs!

Poor quality area with little events going on. Not uncommon to see rats when walking to the library or shops. Hanley town centre is small with the majority of the shops in one place.

Quite a run down city with no centre. Takes a while to get from keele uni to the train station. Although having no city centre it is split up into multiple towns. Hanley having the best night life.

Nights out get abit repetitive and are good if you want the sesh, the shopping centre is a smaller Trafford centre but overall very good

Nights out are okay in Hanley however mainly go to the student union. Shopping and food is quite close but nothing on the door step. Shelton where most student lives isn’t the best either

As one of the cheapest places to be a student in the country, Stoke is very good value for money. There are plenty of places to eat nearby with a variety of different cuisines. Shopping leaves a little to be desired as there is only Hanley city centre as a facility to shop. The nightlife, while affordable in the area, is also limited.

Staffs uni is in middle of Stoke on Trent. It’s pretty good for access as close to what there is. Still not much to do. It has potteries for shops which is okay. Nights out is limited to Hanley or lrv which aren’t great in comparison to other cities. Really run down. The uni however is great and would recommend. The campus is good with everything close by eg Tesco Asda Sainsbury’s and shops on campus. All you need is on campus. Good for freshers.
