Good location as it’s right next to the uni so only a 5 min walk to lectures but a lot of people don’t go out in the halls so you’re lucky if you end up in a flat with people who like going out. Looks a bit like a prison and can feel like one too

The good thing, it is really near the University and lots of supermarkets. Literally you got within 5 minutes more than 4 different shops, and also places like McDonalds and cafes. The bar at the Groove is nice too, there are lots of quiz night, comedy night etc. But I don't thing it's worth all the money it costs. 8 people living in a flat with only 2 bathrooms and 2 showers, we run out of paper very quickly and they don't put a new one until the following week. There have being problems with mice in the flat and in the rooms, with the hot water (people had to take showers with cold water in winter for several days), and also some rooms are really small, other have a leaning window so everytime it rains/hails (and here it happens a lot) it makes so much noise that you would have difficulties to sleep. So I would definitely recomend the location, but I don't really like the flat itself.

It's not worth it, the room is tiny. Internet worked good at first but now it's not good. Social life is basically nonexistent plus gym is also not good. Only pro is the location, really near uni.

Whitworth Park Halls we’re in a great location as it is just a short walk from main campus. Although it was a shared bathroom halls this meant that the facilities such as the common room, kitchen and bathroom were all cleaned multiple times a week which was very helpful. There is also a bar in halls which held daily events such as a pub quiz or movie nights and this made the social experience very good. The rooms are also excellent and a lot of storage space is provided. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Whitworth.

Firstly, I'll start by saying that I had a really great year in Whitworth Park. The halls bar - the grove - is really great, it's cheap, often busy, pools tables and games etc. There's a gym, though it's pretty small, squash courts, grass to sit on. It's crazy close to uni - had everything i could have wanted. But, do not pick these halls if you're fussy about living somewhere 'nice'. You'll have around 9 people to a flat - sharing the kitchen, living room, and leisure centre-style bathroom cubicles. Some flats don't have windows in the kitchen/bathroom, and the bedroom size is really quite small - like really small. All in all, yes the rooms are rubbish and it would have been nice to have a window in our kitchen but I absolutely loved living there - wouldn't change it for the world.

The location is excellent. I’m not sure if there are better located halls; it is about 5 mins walk from main campus and there is a free bus to north campus (Science subjects like engineering). In terms of facilities there’s a gym and squash court which isn’t too bad but isn’t great either. There is also the grove bar where they’ve got football showings all the time and pool and darts and traditional bar games. Unfortunately rooms can be varied in size so you can get lucky and bathrooms are sharing ones but you eventually get used to it.

Its cheap and there are a lot of students living in the area. Also its right next to the school so all the classes are within 10 walk distance. However the rooms are a bit too small. Some come with basins or a sink in the room. There is a bar, gym squash court and barbeque area so i think its a great value for the money.

The location is great being close to town and lectures, however the rooms are often too cold. The kitchen is shocking as well with no ventilation at all.

The rooms are quite big and the security is excellent. Very close to the university as well for great convenience. However the plugs in the communal areas frequently turn off, and our flat was so freezing my flatmates hand went blue. Good enough place tho

My room was freezing, when I arrived there was a wasp nest being fumigated outside my window which meant for the following two weeks wasps were getting into my room and dying continuously. My flat was filled with international students that were only around for one semester so making friends wasn’t as easy as expected. The buildings are shocking for the price you pay, I was incredibly isolated and cut off in the style of flat. It was a grim and dingy place that was hard to study in.

Not in Fallowfield so initially isolated from kebab king, Gaffs and other treasures. Close to uni so you can wake up 5 mins late and still get to lectures late. My room was so tiny my 6 ft 5 mate could basically touch all 4 walls. Other rooms are larger. The dumbest internal layout ever. I had to climb 2 flights of stairs to get to my flat and then down a flight of stairs in my flat to get to my room but hey-ho they managed to save some money. There was no wifi but I heard that has changed. The grove (Student bar) is great: cheap booze, cheezy events, decent turnout and table tennis/pool/darts/Xbox. Standard crappy laundry service. Opposite Maccie Ds, dominos, subway, a pub, Chinese restaurant, mini Morrisons and Sainsburys express. Next to the Academy, Whitworth park and main campus UoM. 5 min walk to Lidl, another subway, Tescos and a spoons. Didn't get a bus pass and never missed out. But you can catch buses to town or fallow really easily.

The location is really good - very close to the uni, shops and also on the main bus route to town. The facilities are more than adequate - shared showers and toilets are cleaned regularly. The kitchen is a good size and the attached common room area is pretty big for the average flat size of 9. The social side is fine - there are a good number of 'activities' on like Easter egg hunts, or deals in the bar when its a special day like St Paddys or Chinese New Year. The room is okay, some have basins which is helpful. The beds are small and the size of room can really vary depending on which one you get - which can be annoying because everyone pays the same amount.

This is a basic hall and one of the cheapest at Manchester...I would recommend it though based on location (close to uni so you save even more money by not having to buy a bus pass). The rooms can also be larger than other halls and the living spaces in the flats that have sinks in the rooms (Thorncliffe House) are really spacious! I also wouldn't worry about sharing a bathroom with others... you'll have most likely done this with family and will be doing it in 2nd year when you move into a house with people. The upside of shared bathrooms here are that they get cleaned at least twice a week, toilet roll is provided (again you'll be saving money here) and they actually have enough showers and bathrooms that you'll never queue for them. In a whole year at Whitworth, I never had to wait to use the shower or the bathroom.

You don't need to get a bus or walk for 25 minutes as Whitworth is very close to the University. It is around a five minute walk to the Student Union and bus stop. There was lots of storage and shelving space in my room. Huge window with a nice view. There is a gym on site and a bar. Also, right across the road from Morrisons, Dominos, Mc Donalds and Subway. Gregs is down the road and there is also a cash point.

Good location very close to uni and shops, bus stop literally by the gate. Rooms comfy enough for the price, mine had a wash basin as well and was decent sized too. When windy room gets a bit colder even when the window is closed. Has a cheap bar with the best bartenders and good events to meet people esp during freshers. Uses eduroam internet so sometimes a bit slow but overall pretty good. All in all I'd go back, was a decent value for money
