Chester is one of the oldest remaining Roaman empire cities left in the UK. Contained within it’s still-standing fort wall from the days of c.70AD, is a large range of modern and bustling shops, bars and restaurants, including a small indoor shopping centre. One of Chester’s most famous POI’s is its racecourse, which still sees a wide attraction of parties from across the country gather each summer to see horses race alongside the River Dee. A £2 Park and Ride service operates regularly to keep Chester city centre well connected with outer-lying towns and those who choose to drive in from further afield.

Chester has become probably my favourite city in the UK since starting university. The town is cute with traditional Tudoristic buildings and cobbled paths. However it also has every shop you'd expect in a bigger city, even brand specific shops such as Jack Wills and Rolex. The people are friendly (mainly students) and everything is walkable, from my student housing it's a 10 minute walk to a retail park (gym, supermarkets) or the town. There's also a very low crime rate and over my 3 years I haven't known anyone to suffer from any theft, mugging, assault, whereas I know my friends at other universities delt with this. Also it's only a 15min drive to Cheshire Oaks which is one of the best outlets in the UK. Also the Chester Races are a sick day to wear a suit get drunk and bet away your student loan. Comfortablity of a small town with the facilities of a big City. Would consider moving back here to settle down in the UK. Bad Points: Nightlife is limited (However the Live Rooms are amazing for bigger events, Skream, Micheal Bibi, Nghtwrk. Area is quite middle class and not very racially diverse.

Chester is a nice city when you first get here, there’s a great place to go shopping and your close to Cheshire oaks which is another great place to go shopping! There are some lovely restaurants nearby that you can go too, unfortunately there isn’t a great night life. It’s pretty boring and there aren’t many clubs to go too, there’s Rosie’s which just plays the same music over and over and then you have cruise which is only good on a Monday and even then it’s not the best! It’s quite a small city compared to Liverpool or Manchester or Nottingham. There isn’t many activities to go and do around here either, you have the zoo that people could go too but other than that there isn’t really much that you can do here.

There are a wide variety of shops and places to eat in Chester, including affordable places for students such as myself. The architecture of the old black and white Tudor buildings provide a historic touch at the root of a modern functioning busy town, a personal favourite for me and my brother who enjoy amateur photography In our spare time. Chester can be counted on for a friendly and enjoyable day out!

Brilliant place to live and friendly people. Good night life if youre looking for good bars but not great for clubs.

Best city in the world, I've been all over but would never even consider anywhere but chester as my home. Shopping is great there's plenty of big name brands and cheaper road store brands. Eating out in great Pepper street is the best place to go for food there's so many different t restaurants the variety is amazing. Roasies, cruise and off the wall are the 3 best places to go for clubbing and/or cheap drinks.

Chester is such a pretty place to visit, make sure to walk the walls (around 40 minutes) to pass by the clock and canals. Have a day trip to the zoo which is worth the visit!

Really great for shopping and going to bars but lacking in the nightclub department, the Christmas market is to die for and the short trip to the neighbouring Liverpool makes chester an ideal place to live and visit

Lots of nice shops and restaurants in Chester. A small town but plenty of restaurants and things to do such as the Storyhouse cinema, an escape room or Roman walks or tours at the Town Hall. Nightlife is okay only 2 clubs Cruise and Rosies which are good but as there is only 2 can get very repetitive and boring. Town is full of students at The Univeristy of Chester. Lots of bars quite pricey but are good. Hardly anywhere to park in town but everything is walking distance.

So many places to go for food and so many different types of food...spoilt for choice. Any shop you would need including primark, H&M, new look, boots etc. Easily accessible. Lots of night clubs for students. Really beautiful city. Train and bus routes are easy to use.

Chester is a very vibrant with various activities to do and so many restaurants to choose from to eat! Also, you can have amazing shopping sprees either at Cheshire Oaks or in the town centre!

Couldn't be a nicer city. The atmospheric conditions pertaining to the equalibrium are satisfyingly abrupt with much less left to the imagination other than the unwaringly Episcopal relevance it has to the reality of the city in its' own essence.

The city is a very lovely small city with many attractions and restaurants to visit and eat in. Lovely place to live, transports are brilliant and the night life is fun.

Beautiful city with lots of sightseeing, food and shopping. Large choice of hotels and B&Bs to stay at, would recommend to a friend

Limited range of clubs, with those available being quite expensive on normal nights without special events occurring. There is a large variety of shops in the centre with a main focus on fashion, although of course not as many options as you would find in a larger nearby city like Manchester. There are great food options at all price points both in the centre and surrounding area. The train station is easily accessible and there are frequent buses between different parts of the city, but the buses are far more limited going to areas just outside, making transport without a car difficult if you live in certain areas more than 10 minutes away from the city centre. There is not a cinema or any other kinds of entertainment facilities in Chester itself but there are many nearby which are only a short bus ride away.

Really nice pleasant town, centre has every shop you'd ever need, and beautiful Victorian style streets. Lots of places to eat and drink!

A quiet and scenic town, Chester is a central location, everything within walking distance from the uni to city centre. Great independent cafes and Liverpool is close by for good food, night life and socialising. Everything closes quite early, with a low crime rate, Chester is one of the safest places to study.

In a location local not just to a beautiful English city but that is close to wales and other iconic parts of the uk via transport

It's a really small and pretty historic city. It's so easy to get around on foot as everything you could need (supermarkets, banks, shops) are all within 20 minutes of each other. There's the Storyhouse that is a great place to study but also watch films and plays. Not to mention the walls are so fun to walk. Deliveroo is very active in Chester, so you'll always be able to get sushi, burgers, pizzas, salads, desserts...whenever you feel like it. Everyone is so lovely. Whenever you feel like going to a bigger city, it's quick and easy to take a train or the bus.

All within walking distance, safe and friendly atmosphere. Lots of shops and bars ideal for students. Close by gym and short journey to Liverpool and manchester

Great location close to Liverpool and manchester. Small town but has everything you need and right on the door step is the countryside.

Historic city with a nice quiet atmosphere. Nightlife alright but more pubs and bars than clubs. Easy enough to get to bigger cities.

Chester is a small town where it's peaceful and aesthetic. It's suitable for quiet living, and the living expenses are quite low. The shortcoming is that the food variety is quite low and might get bored just eating at those few restaurant.
