With a huge supply of different supermarkets to choose from there are many different ways to save money on food. The small town also gives off a very friendly atmosphere and many of the residents speak Welsh.

Irs a really nice small city. There's a lot of pubs but only a couple of nightclubs. Everything is close together so it's very easy to get around.

I love the location of Bangor University for the history and natural beauty. It’s a lovely place if you like to go for walks. Also, the food in Bangor is cheap & most places are so delicious. Public transport is really cheap too, you can get to snowdonia for near nothing, and you’re close to Manchester/ Liverpool without having to be in a city-city. It’s such a safe place as well, it’s somewhere you always feel safe.

Bangor is a very small town so when you are out and about you nearly always see some one you know which is nice! But the size is also limited to things to do, it can often get repetitive so travelling outside the city is the alternative. Nightlife is okay, the clubs and pubs try their best! I think being with a good group of people on a night out here make it!

Nights out: Academi is ok but nights in there always tend to be the same and often I find it quite young and almost too cheesy in there. Some nights it is pretty quiet in there too. Cube is good, range of students and locals and the choice of 4 different rooms keeos the night interesting. Pubs around Bangor are all good, incl Spoons, Paddys, Rascals and Harp. Club DB seems to be popular with locals and is very much hit or miss. There are a number of places to eat and shop around Bangor, but if you are from a bigger city it will be seemingly lacking in things to do.

I partly chose my university for the diverse location unique to any other university in the country. Based between the mountains of Snowdonia and the Menai Straits, there is a wonderful combination of mountains and sea, notnon,y leading to stunning views, but a vast variety of experiences to be and. Bangor isn't a conventional university city: it's small, and shops close rather early, but if you don't want the densely populated, overcrowded urban life, and want to study in a place surrounded by countless places to explore, then this is the kind of university for you.

As Bangor is quite a small place, I understood beforehand that my options to do things were limited. However I didn't understand just how much this would be. Firstly, the 'high street' consisting of the main shops is subpar at best - there aren't many stores at all and there are a lot of empty, run down buildings. Nights out are okay, if you become accustomed to the (frankly disappointing) student run night club and the other, much larger (but still somewhat lacking) club. An upside to Bangor however is its places to eat, as they cater to many different food needs.

Bangor is a super small city so the choices for nights out are limited. We have two night clubs, Cube and Academi, and they’re both alright but I’m not really a club person. We do have a lot of good pubs though, including the Harp, which is my favourite pub in the world. It’s homely, everyone chats to each other and it just has a great atmosphere in general. Oh and on a Monday it’s £1 pints! There aren’t a lot of food places in Bangor, mainly take always and fast food, and a couple of restaurants. The blue sky cafe is really good though, and their veggie food is to die for. Bangor is in an awesome location that makes it worth how small it is. It sits in North Wales, super close to snowdonia for people who like mountains, and there’s views of them from most of bangor for people who just want to look at them. It’s also on the coast, and right next to the isle of Angelsey, which has stunning beaches. Bangor is also super cheap so it’s great for the student budget. All in all, I love bangor, it’s awesome.

the nights out are ‘alright’ in bangor. there are three clubs and one of them is terrible, the music choice isn’t good. the actual town is mediocre. you can definitely tell it’s full of young adults as there is trash everywhere. the weather probably doesn’t help either as the wind is very strong. the high street is very tired and needs a lot of improvement. the train station is vary close to the main university site and travel is very easy

Asides from the fact it's about as secluded as cities (yep, that cathedral in the centre means it's a city) get in the UK, Bangor offers students the chance to experience life in North Wales. Beaches, mountains, rivers and forests - you'll just need to find a friend with a car because the public transport is awful.

To rent a room it is quite cheap starting from £65 a week onwards. The location is great, there are loads of things to do in town. The night club The Cube has been recently refurbished and there are 4 different rooms , with different music. It is along the coast so there are a few lovely beaches when the weather is hot although a lot of the time it's raining and cold.

So pretty and it's so different. You can be at the beach one minute and hike up the mountains the next!

Value for money in Bangor is insane, it is easy to live off £20 a week and that is one of the main reasons I love it there so much. A night out does not need to cost upwards of a tenner through getting in on a ticket and luxuriating in the drinks offers cube or academi have to offer. Bangor boasts a host of cheap supermarkets making food shopping inexpensive. Bangor also hosts a range of places to eat out the best ones being Noodle One, Blue Sky and The Fat Cat all conveniently located on the high street.

Great variety of places that are student-friendly for food, plenty of shops which are close by. Beautiful views in a gorgeous city, there's a pier, stunning woodlands and the menai straights!

Good outdoorsy areas especially for those more adventurous. Excellent nearby facilities to fulfill kayaking, climbing, bouldering, mountaineering etc. not much to do in Bangor itself other than shopping if you live a more sedate lifestyle, however there are plenty of pubs with pool tables and a couple of cinemas.

It’s a very small city but has an absolutely lovely surrounding and with landscapes and natural beauty’s right around you, as well as the Menai strait and snowdonia under an hour away you cannot go wrong with Bangor.
