Student finance may have bought you that console, but here are some affordable video games to play with your mates.

Uni can be stressful. It’s important to find time to unwind, and there aren’t many better ways to do that than putting your feet up and hopping on your favourite console.

But these days it's difficult to find a new game that’s kind to a student budget. So, next time you’re looking for a little escapism, check out these cheap video games that go for £20 or less…

For Honor

First up, a bit of swordplay. For Honor, an online PvP game, allows you to embrace your inner warrior as a Knight, Viking, Samurai and more. Due to the characters' differing skill sets, it takes a while to master each of them, providing many hours of fun. For just under £5 For Honor is super well priced especially when comparing it to larger games.

Brawlhalla

Brawhalla is a 2D game where players try to knock each other off a small platform in an attempt to win the round. Players have three lives and can play different games like football, dodgeball, and snowball fights. This is a great game to play with mates and one that requires minimal attention. It's currently free in both the PlayStation and Microsoft stores, so, if it's not your thing you can always delete it free of charge.

Dead by Daylight

Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer horror game, in which a crew of four must escape from the killer by completing tasks and avoiding being caught. This is a very easy game to pick up and is great for a bit of adrenaline. There are multiple characters and many ways to upgrade and level up, giving the game a sense of purpose and customisability.

Watch Dogs

Watch Dogs is a single-player action-adventure game where you play as a skilled hacker, Aidan Pearce who is trying to seek justice for his late niece Lena. The game is set in San Francisco and is an open world, with multiple missions, some connected to the storyline and others are fun side-quests. The story mode has hours' worth of content to play and is both engaging and rewarding. If you want to grind out a game on your own, then this is the one for you.

ARK: Survival Evolved

ARK is a survival-based sandbox game with a huge open world to explore. The premise is that you spawn on an island with absolutely nothing and have to harvest and craft resources, but, there is a catch, the island is swarmed with hundreds of dinosaurs. Some of them are docile and peaceful whilst others are predatory and dangerous. Effectively ARK is a more complex Minecraft, just with more dinosaurs. ARK is a great game to play either alone or with friends.
