Looking to try some new drinking games for your next get together? We’ve found some great themed ones to try.

Looking for something new to try at your next pre-drinks or party? Here are some suggestions for themed drinking games for you to try at your next gathering;.

Game of Thrones

Perfect for a party with a fantasy or TV show theme, this game is taken from the penultimate episode of the first season. Despite being designed for two people, the game can be adapted for more players. The basic two-player version starts with one person making an assumption about the other. If the assumption is incorrect, the person who made it drinks, otherwise the subject of the guess drinks.

For larger groups, every time someone makes a statement, each member of the group can agree or disagree. Thumbs up to agree, thumbs down to disagree. Everyone who gets it wrong has to take a drink.

I have never Instagrammed

This is a twist on the classic ‘Never have I ever’. Instead of overly personal secrets being exposed, it’s just your Instagram account. Start by claiming that you have never done a particular kind of Instagram post, like food pics, gym selfies, or thirst traps. Everyone who has done that thing takes a drink.

If you think someone should have had a drink but didn’t, challenge them. Find the type of post they deny having made and you can make them finish their drink.

Themed trivia games

While they could take longer to plan, a themed trivia game is great for a group with shared interests. Marvel movies, your favourite video games, and TikTok trends are all possible themes. You’ll easily find questions online, or an eager quizmaster could make some up.

Take it in turns to answer questions. Correct answers get the quizmaster drinking and incorrect answers make you drink.

Titanic

You’ll need two drinks for this one: a pint of beer and some kind of spirit. Carefully float a shot glass in the pint of beer. Each person takes a turn to pour at least a drop of the spirit into the shot glass. The person who causes the shot glass to sink to the bottom must drink the newly made concoction.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

There are all kinds of ‘drink when’ style games for you to hit up your pre-drinks with. Stick on a movie, draft some rules, and have fun. A particular favourite of ours is the one for Spidey’s first full outing in the MCU. The rules are to drink when:

  • Someone says ‘Spider-Man’
  • Someone mentions ‘Stark’ or ‘Tony Stark’
  • The Avengers are mentioned
  • Peter texts Happy
  • Ned asks a question
