The University of Leicester

Leicester University is not that big, however, that makes it cosy. It is not as green as other universities but it has a park next to it. It is easy to get a student job here and the city itself is cheap. Everyone is very friendly here; even the security staff of the library. It is very international, so it is good to meet people from everywhere of the world.

There are great teachers and facilities in the modern languages department. In particular we have our own study centre which is useful for doing group projects and practising speaking with course mates. The uni is career orientated too! In my first year I completed the Leicester Award which is available to all students and it gives work experience opportunities to boost your CV.

The campus is lively with events going on all throughout the year. For my course in Modern Languages we have our own study area which is very useful when we have to practise speaking or get together to do group projects. The teachers are great and right from the beginning of the course there is the opportunity to do the Leicester Award, to improve your CV and get work experience.

The University has great facilities, especially the library. It only improved over the years as we received new computers, chairs and services. The University is located quite close to the city centre which makes it easy to access shops, pubs and entertainment venues.

Love the area and city centre! People are very friendly and staffs are helpful. The city centre has many attractions and it's very little on night time.

The campus itself is very well put together with everything in very close proximity. The course I am on (American Studies) is very enjoyable so far, offering a range of topics and skills such as History, Literature, Politics and Media. The SU we have is also very positive, offering lots of help to all students who may have varying issues as well as offering three student night's out a week.

The campus is great very easy to navigate and they've recently done some work to it which is great. The medical school is brand new and the space there is used very well. It's such a nice area to work in. They have also added a lot more work space to the library so during exams there's a lot more space for people to work! The SU's quite small but does organise good nights out on a Friday and Wednesday at the O2.

I’m a second year student at University of Leicester and so far i’ve had the best time of my life here. Everything is great from the number of places you can study in the library to the resources. What's great about the uni is how compact it is and how easy it is to get around. Being such a compact campus means you don't have to run from lecture to lecture. There is a variety of amenities of campus which cater to all your needs. There are plenty of food options. The student union is also really modern, there's lots of comfy seating and they've got a few food outlets including starbucks and a shop. There is always stuff going on around campus, something for everyone. They are a huge range of clubs and societies to get involved in away from the traditional sports clubs. Overall Leicester has excellent facilities and top quality teaching staff who are helpful and informative. The services available to students are good quality and really support you throughout your degree and after.

The univeristy of Leicester is the friendliest univeristy I have ever come across, the students are always willing to help each other out and campus always has something going on. The univeristy has amazing library facilities and has a whole bunch of societies to get involved with, the uni is safe and fun to be around.

Lovely campus in great location close to the city and student areas. First year student village is a little further out of town by excellent for the sports facilities. Campus is nice and compact and has a gym and shops. Doing chemistry and really enjoy it, great department with good student-academic interaction.

Pretty good I won’t lie, could do with a decent chippy though, I mean how long does it take to get to reach one hundred characters anyway?

Amazing campus and facilities and the course is taught by very good lecturers. The nightlife is good too as we have our own O2 Academy on campus. Overall a great uni.

My course is so good in terms of content and crossover. The staff are highly accommodating and couldn’t do enough to help. Office hours make them easily accessible and the emailing system is brilliant.

Have had a great overall experience at the University of Leicester. The campus is a nice size - not too big or spread out which means it's easy to get between classes and bump into people for a chat. Some of the buildings, like the skyscrapers stand out and may seem ugly at first, but they grow on you over time. Sad there is no longer a paternoster in the Attenborough building though, that was a fun thing to show visitors to the uni! The SU has a Starbucks and food market that includes pop ups from local businesses, currently the detox shack which sells health foods and smoothies, probably the most popular pop up to date. Most lecture theatres have been renovated recently and are comfortable and clean, and usually easy to find.

The university is brilliant in its diversity, it’s research, and it’s lecturers. I would recommend the university to everyone.

Though at first I thought the UoL's campus was unimpressive, I've come to really appreciate it's smaller size and it allows movement between buildings and classes to be very smooth. Administration at the university is also amazingly good. The university has so many services designed to make your learning and experience at uni go as smooth as possible. One such service is the Careers development service which provides a tonne of help when it comes to cv and cover letter writing as well as job hunting and interview prep. The service is even able after you graduate as a student if you still need help.
