CathSoc is a very good and a friendly society. Officially, there are some 30-35 members, but many of the events are available and accessible to non-members as well. Obviously the name hints that many events are historically and religiously aimed but over the year I have met quite a few non-believer or non-practicing students, who have joined us for some of the events. The society provides low-priced trips to nearby cities like Oxford, Cambridge, as well as spiritual events such as retreats. On campus events include revision sessions, breakfast meetings, BBQs, karaoke sessions. International gang of students: Latin America, Eastern Europe, Asia... The organisation is very friendly and the executive committee is accessible for any remarks and suggestions. It is a nice little retreat of sensibility in a crazy rushing campus atmosphere. The Society doesn't have a large budget but is friendly, co-operative and open. Cheap membership - less than 5 GBP.
