Stoke-on-Trent

Stoke has a community feel. The shopping hasn’t got a wide variety of big shops but has a shopping centre. With the food oatcakes are a good part. There isn’t much to do however and there is not a lot of choice with clubs on nights out and where to go. Clubs are quite expensive for what they are. There needs to be a club with more than one room. It is getting better for niche cafes but more like this would be good. The choice of restaurants is good now due to the new complex opened up in Hanley. There is few things to do, not much new things just the same activity in different places.

Honestly the town centre is a long walk away. The closest shops produce is always moldy and buses cost an arm and a leg! Only good thing is the train station which is on your doorstep.

Intu shopping centre in itself is very good. There's a good variety of shops and restaurants including a cinema too so it's a good place to visit. In Hanley high Street, there are also some good shops worth visiting. It feels like Stoke ends there though. The rest is dingy, run down and doesn't feel safe at night, especially the residential streets that surround the Uni.

They have a good Tescos (it's open 24 hours except on a Sunday). I also like that there's McDelivery. However, any other time I go outside my flat I feel like I'm going to get murdered.

Although Stoke is not a small city, I feel that it is quite empty and abandoned, many shops are closed down, there are rubbish and litter on the roads. While I thought that Birmingham, where I am from is ugly, I feel like Stoke beats that by far.

Poor quality area with little events going on. Not uncommon to see rats when walking to the library or shops. Hanley town centre is small with the majority of the shops in one place.

Staffs uni is in middle of Stoke on Trent. It’s pretty good for access as close to what there is. Still not much to do. It has potteries for shops which is okay. Nights out is limited to Hanley or lrv which aren’t great in comparison to other cities. Really run down. The uni however is great and would recommend. The campus is good with everything close by eg Tesco Asda Sainsbury’s and shops on campus. All you need is on campus. Good for freshers.
