Really if I could give this 3 and a half stars, then I would. When i applied to stay in accompdation I did not receive any o my application list, and I was offered to stay elsewhere. After realising that I basically had no choice but to accept the offer, I was actually Satisfied more than I believed I would be on arrival. The pictures online don’t seem to present the rooms that well, so I was left to think that I wouldn’t enjoy my stay here. That was completely opposite, when I began to settle in and make the room my own with decorations and all sorts. I realised that living in halls allows the chance for more socialising to occir and gives a much better opportunity to make friends than what I would have done if one of my initial choices were given to me. There are many facilities around the halls that makes living suitable especially if you’re away from home. However one service that has completely let down my rating is the university shuttle bus. Having to pay prices from £85 to use the shuttle bus I think is unnecessary. Reason being that students pay far too much to even rent out the accommodation, and funding themselves for food, clothes etc can get pretty expensive. The fact that we already pay 9K+ to attend university a year, I don’t believe this to be fair that we have to pay this for the shuttle bus as I have heard that other uni’s have this service free. Overall staying in halls is actually not so bad.

Location: too far from the university and bus passes are so expensive. Facilities: really nice, cleaned regularly and most things are newly renovated Social experience: gym membership is EXPENSIVE so i cant join any sports societies as i simply cant afford it. However, the village hub always has things going on in there that have been organised so if youre ever alone you can just go and meet new people. Room: Big but old fashioned (if you live in the houses) they dont put much effort in making it seem homely but other than that it’s nice.

Absolutely loved living in John Foster Pavillions, I loved my room, it was spacious and homely. The bathroom was lovely and the water was always hot! I miss it dearly, I also enjoyed being able to park my car!

I loved my halls, the room was nice with my own ensure bathroom and I got to meet some amazing people whilst it wasn’t too cramped. The only issue was that as I was on the road a lot of the time I’d get woken up by people going out clubbing from outside and this happened a lot during exam season. Oadby is a lovely place to live. Very scenic and there’s lots of things to do. The local Asda is a 15minute walk away and despite the bus being expensive the 40minute walk to uni was great as you could go down millionaire road and think about what your future could be like.

Amazing room of decent size with en suite bathroom. Never really had any problems and living in oadby student village was perfect for first year. Lots of really good events were put on and had 24 hour reception. Only downfall is you definitely have to pay for these benefits in your accommodation cost.

I lived in Liere building, all the rooms were of decent size snd the bathrooms were also very nice. The kitchen had all appliances needed and we the residential advisors were very welcoming.

Living in John foster is great in terms of the rooms, the available facilities eg. Laundry room, ATM, ticket machine. It is really close to an Asda superstore and just further down from there, there’s an M&S foodhall, pound stretcher, nail shops, a pub, papa johns and a few takeaways. However the only and biggest drawback is the distance from university. It is a 40 min walk or a 20 min journey on the bus. The buses aren’t as frequent as a Londoner like myself is used to but you can get around if you plan ahead accordingly. There are student tickets that for the bus that allow you unlimited use of any Arriva bus in the Leicester zone 1 which includes oadby and the city centre but a yearly ticket runs at around £360. You can also buy tickets per term which are around £150 per term but it works out cheaper to get the full year. The rooms (the pavillions) are spacious, the bed is only a single bed however. Ensuite is not cramped and there is a lot of cupboard space and storage around the room. Internet connection is generally quite good however 3G/4G connection is generally very poor wherever you are in John foster. There are a lot of events that take place, and a lot of green space and nature. Overall a nice place to live, and glad that this was my first year experience.

The room and ensure itself was nice, however a bus pass/long walk is required in order to get to uni. The kitchen was relatively nice, however sofas are hard and not particularly comfortable. Flats are small in numbers of students (4/5) and therefore perhaps not as sociable as other halls would have been. Most expensive accommodation on offer at UoL to my knowledge

facilities were excellent, I often made use of the village hub and it's amenities especially the upstairs revision rooms which were a life saver because the library on campus was so far away, the food was excellent and we were never stopped from using any of the meeting rooms as cinema rooms when they were not in use which was great. however the social side was not as great. the rooms were only for 5 people which meant that if your flat was not sociable (as mine was not) it was difficult you branch out because blocks were separate.

Good sized room with single bed. Very warm and with an efficient radiator. Window only opens a little bit, which may be an issue when too warm. Great location in Oadby student village and right next to the first pick up bus stop, so you always get a seat.

Standard sized rooms, relatively uncomfortable beds but not too bad. Caravan shower/toilet combo is comically bad but the serves it’s purpose. Windows made of sugar glass mean there is no need to use the likely broken fridge/freezer combo and instead leave your drinks by the window. Carpet has a kitsch vibe if that’s what your into (and by that I mean it’s pretty awful). Be prepared for your room to always maintain an uncomfortable level or stuffiness due to the awkward placement of the caravan toilet combo that is constantly soaking wet (along with your socks). Overall 3/10 would live there again. P.S be prepared to use an outdated kitchen and pay £4.20 a day for the bus or face a 40 minute walk to uni.

Great flat but overall soical experience wasnt too great - would love to have had accomodation ball like they have at other unis or similar events for halls. Reception on site open all the time was very useful and staff very helpful. Wish that i wasnt in a flat with 4 people on same course as made it hard to meet people from other courses.

The rooms are a decent size and have a good amount of desk space. The facilities in the student village however are a bit lackluster, the village shop doesnt sell much and so the only option really is ASDA which is a pain if you have to walk. The village hub is always quite dead even though the drink prices are very cheap. Not many people attend the events put on in the student village. The location is also very poor as we are miles away from town and quite a way from the uni. However, the area is very nice and it is easy to go see mates in john foster as it is all quite close.

Very large room with comfortable en suite bathroom. Excellent facilities (very close to reception, social space, Amazon locket etc). Only negatives are it's quite a distance from Asda on foot and the radiators do not keep the rooms very warm in winter.

Nice Halls, has en-suite with shared kitchen and small social area. 4-5 people per flat, bus stop right outside.

The locations wasn’t great, had to get a bus to uni everyday. The halls were expensive and the room wasn’t very big but I did have an ensuite which I wanted. Good place to meet people and very close to the other halls.

Too far away from the university campus and too expensive for what it is. Rooms are decently sized but seem smaller because of the way in which it's organised.

Kitchens way too small for 5 people sharing Feels like living on top of each other. Too improve need to clean bathrooms throughly and remove all module and dirt before the next students move in - replace skirting boards

Great location and new facilities which are cleaned once a week and lots of events put on by the SU. There’s free buses to the O2 on student nights. The catered food isn’t great so go for self-catered otherwise you’ll get to know your dominos driver really well.

The rooms are light and big, the ensuite is a great size with a powerful shower. The kitchen is a decent size for 4 people, however there could be more ‘living’ space. The location isn’t ideal if you don’t have a bus pass (it’s over £350 per year), meaning I walk to uni which takes about 35 minutes (2.2 miles). There isn’t much to do in oadby itself, although it is nice to be in the ‘student village’ as there is a big student community and it’s easy to meet new people. On the other hand, the flat sizes are small (there are 4 in mine, max 5 in JoFo) which makes it slightly harder during freshers week as it’s hard to branch out until you meet people on your course.

The halls are cleaned twice a week, there’s regular buses to uni and to student night events. The gym is a two minute walk away and the facilities are great. There’s always events on around the halls.
