Huddersfield isn’t a nice area and I would avoid it at all costs. There are two night clubs, one of them is called Tokyo where that many bad things have happened they’ve now put up airport style security before going. There is crime happening all of the time, someone is either being stabbed or shot and it’s not nice how unsafe you feel. There are barley any shops, and a lot of drug addicts around.

Great town with lots of different facilities for such a small area. Well catered for in terms of shops and restaurants and good nightlife especially for students.

Less choice in terms of bars, clubs and restaurants but other cities are close by and transport links are very good. There is a lot of accomodation options in the centre and close to the uni, the majority of which are pretty cheap.

As a smaller student town there is less choice in terms of clubs, bars, restaurants and shops. However transport to Leeds and Manchester is very good and the town is generally quieter with a lot of options for student accommodation. It's very cheap.

4 and a half years ago, I moved from a small town in Norfolk to Huddersfield for University - and I have not looked back once. Food wise, you can find almost any cuisine you want to find, all within a ten minute drive or twenty minute walk of the town centre - I've found cuisines I'd never eaten before! Night life, while not quite city-worthy, offers you a range of clubs, pubs and bars for whatever your taste may be; whether you like to dress up or be casual. Similarly, between the Kingsgate shopping centre and the town centre roads, most high street chains have a place - even if just inside of the house of Fraser. Same as coffee shops and cafe's, there's something for everyone. Where this town falls a little short, however, is the limited activities to do within close proximity to the town. Laser tag can be done within a ten minute walk, but it would take at least half an hour to walk to bowling. There are multiple escape rooms in the town centre and just on the edge, but if you wish to play mini golf or go rock climbing, you will have to go out to brighouse or castleford. Overall, a decent value for money if you have a car, or are willing to take a couple of buses out to activities. Despite this, train links to neighbouring towns and cities are frequent and fairly pleasant.

Some shops In the town Could be upgraded. Maybe some better name restaurants. The town has a dirty atmosphere to it. The variety is good, and there are varieties of cheap and expensive shops to cater for everyone.

The food is good quality but costs a lot of money, drinks Also cost a lot of money. The food is really yummy in the restaurants. The town/city is avaerage sizes and there are things to do some you have to pay for but it's an alright town

Huddersfield is a place for all. Highly inclusive, diverse and friendly. Pocket friendly town, with affordable student accommodation. All bars and pubs just 5 mins away from uni. Endless options for eating out, with varying cuisines to choose from. 20 mins from Leeds with transport links to bigger cities. Huddersfield gives you all the perks of a city, cutting out all the drawbacks by being a town where you can just do your thing.

Food: quite a lot of restaurants in town center, but not a lot of different cuisine Shopping: average in a town, one shopping mall and market. The number of shop is okay, like some basic shop - Primark, JD sport, House of Fraser etc. Night out: I don't know cause I don't go out at night

Huddersfield is a small town, so be prepared for that if you go here. The university is amazing and has so many facilities for every single course, and is really close to cities like leeds and Manchester so these are quick and easy to visit. The nightclubs in Huddersfield are really good, but there isn't a wide array of choice - Camel and Tokyo are the top favourites.

Amazing. I moved from a big city to huddersifled and it's the best decision I've ever made. I have made a life here

The nightlife is excellent and hudderHudder is all about the nightlife and the football, so I would recommend the town for food, parties and entertainment as all the cinemas are good and it is other train ride from other big cities like Leeds or Manchester.

bit rough but good on nights out. price is pretty decent, shops are quite shit tho. depends what you want really. amount of food places is pretty bad but lots of small takeaways good for a night out

Huddersfield overall is a decent town for shopping and eating put. It help with socialising as it isn't too big and it's easy to meet up with friends. Transportation could be improved on many level especially public buses as they can become crowded very easily, they feel unsafe with the lack of seat belts- this is a huge negative for those with young children. The option to stand up on buses is a negative as if any accident was to occur significant, life changing injuries could occur.

Good places for nights out and some good restaurants around. Kings gate it good for shopping and Queensgate also has lots of shops so you can always find what you need

The kings gate centre provides people with plenty of shops to choose from. There are many places to eat , shop and go night clubbing. Included with bus and train station for easy transportation. However this could b improved by adding more places that are available in Leeds such as Victoria secret , Hollister, Taco Bell, lush, Dunkin donuts etc.. I feel like more shops around the area and all areas should include student discounts such as boots and essential places where students need to shop to get better value for money. Another problem that shops face not just in Huddersfield but around the country, is that things are getting even more over priced in places as cheap as primark. Another problem faced is that some busses etc. 549 are not available after 3 on weekdays which is rediculous and therefore I sometimes cannot get home after a college day.

Small but friendly, a home away from home. Feels very safe even at night. Has most shops in town and retail park

Good places to eat and drink. Lots of opportunity to eat during the day and at night same for drinking. Great shops in shopping centre and around. Easy to get to other big cities via train.

Huddersfield is a great University location. The town isn't too big, which can have it's downfalls when it come to eating out, shopping in nightlife but it catet to students very well. There's plenty of places offering student discounts with more opening up every year. The university itself is nice and compact, so students don't need to go on huge walks to get to their next lectures. For those wanting to explore the local area there are some great walks with amazing views for miles. Castle Hill is a popular one for sunny days an BBQs. Overall, I would rate the location at 4*s .

Great nights out, clubs aren’t always the busiest but they always have cheap drinks. Food is great with lots of Jamaican restaurants and also a number of chains with reasonable prices. There’s not a massive amount of things to do but there is a shopping centre with lots of shops, parks and walks and a leisure centre all close to the town centre.

The overall area of the university is amazing. Everything is close to each other making trips out into the centre so easy. The train station is also only 5 minutes away from the university, making is super convenient. There are a range of shops, restaurants and overall places to visit within the town.
