Amazing city to live in! There's so much to do! From amazing restaurants, bars and places to go out in the evenings to great shops, cinemas, days out at the castle, Edinburgh zoo and more! With great transport links throughout the city it's definitely a must visit!

Lovely beautiful city with tons of culture, nightlife scene is small but very fun with cool music. Very safe to live in (though expensive) with plenty of nice coffee and restaurant places.

There's such a mixture of stuff to do! Lots of student things too because otherwise it can be quite expensive, especially at a weekend. New town is great for high street shopping whilst overlooking old town and the castle; it's so pretty! The Christmas markets are also fabbbb, with loads to do for all ages! The only thing new town lacks is a range of independent coffee shops, it's only really the normal chains, but they're still really nice. My favourite is the Starbucks on princes street which overlooks the street and the castle.

So many good nightclubs for whatever scene you may be into. Whether it's the pros teen ness of George street or the grungy dance aesthetic of the cowgate. You'll be bound to find something to your tastes.

Amazing city! It is so so beautiful so with many things to do. I have lived here just over 2 years and i am still in awe of this city. Plenty of days out, shops, art galleries/ museums and places to eat. Summer and christmas times are great times to come as you have the famous fringe festival in August and the beautifuk christmas markets. I love it, couldn't imagine living anywhere else!

Very calm and small city. You can find everything you want and all within short distance! It's great when it comes to university life and people here are very social. The variety of food available is great considering it's so small and you can always find something new to try. The architecture is one of the best I've ever seen and you will always find buildings to admire. Walking around alone is enough to make your day better. Many touristic desinations are available including the Castle, Arthurs seat, Calton Hill, Prince's Street, Victoria Stress, Grass Market, The Meadows etc.

A very beautiful place, away from the hustle of the city and pure scottish serenity. There is a lake in campus which is a great spot to hangout. The forest trails in the university make morning walks great. The University looks great in any season.

Awesome city! So many chairs and affordable places to eat as a student. Many free museums and art gallery’s, open parks and walks.

Edinburgh is the perfect student city. It's small enough that you'll never feel lost, but there are endless things to do so you'll never be bored. It's international but maintains a Scottish feel.

Within walking distance of everything you could need, and loads of public transport options for everything else.

Amazing city, amazing public transport and amazinf people. The nightlife is great if you know where to go for it. The castle being in the centre of the city definitely makes it unique and the Edinburgh accent isn’t too bad to understand if you’re from elsewhere.

Great place - so much going, loads of festivals happen throughout the year (not just the fringe and film festival). Pretty sound for shopping, Princess street has basically everything Oxford street has, just a little scaled down. Plenty of places for cheap food and drink near campus.

Edinburgh is such a beautiful city, with a mixture of different nightclubs, bars, pubs, cafes, shops etc for everyone's taste, which you would expect with Edinburgh being a capital city. It also has so many beautiful outdoor spaces, with Princes Street Gardens, the Meadows (perfect for a summer barbecue) and Holyrood park. The city to me is still utterly enchanting with beautiful views and sights all around the centre which is where the university is. All of the city is very accessible, as the centre is quite compact, however if you are going further afield, such as to one of the beaches in the city (Portobello being a favourite), there are good and affordable transportation systems. as a result of it being such a great city, the living cost is huge, with rents increasing hugely per year and landlords making prospective tenants practically audition to stay in their place. Despite this, I would not live anywhere else.

Definitely one of the cities to go to university in, from the ease and cheapness of transportation to the amounts of things to do. Edinburgh has it all.

Edinburgh is my favourite city in Scotland. I love that it has the nightlife of a city but also has scenic views as if you’re in the country. It’s so easy to get about with the excellent transport system and anything you need is a 5 minute journey away. Shopping is accessible and there’s plenty of amenities everywhere.

Fantastic electric buzzing city! Lots of great places to live in and around the city with great access to the coast and the great outdoors!

Such a great city! Loads of fun cultural activities, fantastic restaurants and great pubs and bars. The fringe festival in August is also super fun, and great for finding a summer job. The only problem is allll the tourists.

Best city. Great culture (museums, annual fringe festival etc). Close to the ocean, countryside etc.

I'd say the highlights of Edinburgh as a city lie mainly in the deep cultural value of historical buildings such as the Castle, Scott Monument, Parliament. However Princes Street is amazing for shopping, from high street to designer stores, and there are also many great restaurants both in central Edinburgh and on the outskirts. Edinburgh itself is easily navigable as a city due to the excellent bus services. There is also a tram service but I have never personally used it so cannot really comment on that. Nights out are okay, standard student clubs. There are cinemas and filmhouses, as well as the Festival Hall and Usher Hall, and also the Queens hall so very good entertainment whether you're looking for family fun, classical music, opera, theatre, and of course, in August, Edinburgh hosts the Fringe which is one of the greatest entertainment festivals globally - definitely worth checking out.

Edinburgh is a great place to be a student. There is are a good variety of clubs and bars so you’ll find the night out you like! Some places are quite pricey but you can find reasonably priced food and drink. The greatest advantage is the festivals during the summer as especially in August there’s always work going.
