Warrender Park Crescent

Before I moved to halls, I was asked if I wanted to be in a mixed gender or female only flat. I requested mixed, and was told I would be in a mixed, 4 person flat. When I arrived, I found that I was in a female only 5 person flat. This would have been fine, but 3 of the people I was sharing with were semester abroad students, who were not only third year students, but were not even going to be in the flat for the second semester... A great way to make lifelong friends! The shower didn’t work when I moved in.. it’s was freezing cold and then so hot it left burn marks on my skin, all within the space of about 2 minutes. The other bathroom didn’t have a lock on it. I was told that it was “simply a faulty shower” and ultimately to get on with it. They did come and fix the shower eventually, but it took a lot of going in and out of the office. As for the lock on the other bathroom door, nobody cared or did anything about it. On another occasion, my flatmate’s ceiling fell down into her room and nothing was done about it for 3 days, as she alerted them to it on a Friday, and they had all gone home for the weekend. When they did eventually come to sort out the ceiling, they barged into the bathroom without a lock at about 8AM to find my flatmate standing there in a towel. They then left the rest of the flat in the state of a building site for a couple of weeks. There was dust everywhere, the bathrooms were dirty from muddy boots, dust and water, and the workers used our mugs etc. without asking, which we then had to wash up. Again, when I went to the office to complain that we didn’t know when the building work (hammering and drilling as well as dust) would be done, nobody really seemed to care. On another occasion, our sinks were blocked, and the people who came around to fix it stood in the corridor talking loudly about how we had probably blocked the sinks on purpose, as we were just privileged students and had no idea how to do anything and just liked making other people work... Needless to say, the sinks were blocked following all the building work that had been done in our flat because of the fallen ceiling. So not our fault at all! All of this and more (mice...) in only a semester! The common room was amazing but other than that, I wouldn’t reccomend.

Lovely building but can be quite cold. When repairs were reported they weren't seen to straight away but a few weeks later.
