Location was perfect as was close to town but still only 15/20 mins to uni on a bus. Facilities were good and kitchen/living space was good but rooms were a bit small and washing machines were really expensive!! I got on well with my flat mates so was a good experience but can imagine that if you don’t get on well it would be rubbish. Most floors have 2 flats and some have 1 but mine had 2 and we got on with our neighbours so had a good time!

Orwell Terrace is located a 20 minutes walk from Merchiston campus. You habe to take the bus to the other two campuses. It's a 15 minute walk to princess street. There are 3 food shops right by, co-op, Lidl and Sainsbury's. Great bus connections. The halls have the shittiest reception which is rarely open. They really don't do their job. The bike storage is supposed to be insured and relatively safe, but over a break it was broken into and loads of bikes were stolen. My flatmate had his bike there and it was worth about 800 pounds. He got nothing back, he went to the police and emailed the reception people regularly for updates. Now they claim they never got a report of his bike being stolen. Complete bullshit. The rooms are insanely small and the chair is uncomfortable. There are only one shelf in the closet and the under bed storage is really crap. Sometimes you have to fight to make it close. They only give 3 drawer for your desk, so where am I supposed to put my underwear? Right? You're not allowed to put anything in the hallway, not even the part past the last door where no one ever goes... would be a perfect spot for a shoeshelf, we use it for drying racks even tho it's not allowed. All social events are held at a different halls. We just get free pizza like once a month.. Living in a flat with 8 people, the kitchen is tiny. Like.. there's not enough room.. 4 drawers for 8 people is not even close to enough!!!! We have to store some kitchen equipment in plastic boxes on the floor.. There is a tv in there tho.. only good thing.. The payment system is confusing for internationals. There is no explanation and you have to call to figure things out. The internet has been up and down this year, engineers have been called on site around 8 times.. Same with the hot water. We've been without hot water 3 times in my building. Once I had hair dye in my hair and went to shower it out and it was colder than the lake beside my grandmas house back home in Norway which gets ice melted water from the mountain. All in all. I do NOT recommend Orwell Terrace.

Nice buildings. Fire alarm has never went off. Quite in a good way. Really nice people. Modern and clean

Great location in terms of access, a Lidl right next door , half an hour bus to sighthill campus from right outside, easy access to the city centre and Haymarket train station is a five minute walk. The flat itself was modern, however I did have serious issues with heating as the security/ accomdation officers refused to keep the heating on for more than one hour a day even in winter, the windows are terrible, absolutely no insulation and constantly have a draft coming through them, and as the accommodation team demanded that everyone has the window open to prevent dampness, the heating issue was exacerbated. The WiFi was also terrible and I didn’t get signal at all in my room

These halls are brilliant. All inclusive bill for internet, heating etc. Never cold, regular tests and maintenance INTERNET SPEEDS UP TO 100MBS only downside is me moving out next year!
