Although geographically Derby covers a wide area, the city centre is fairly compact which allows for easy access to necessary places without travelling far. The transport routes are very good, on time, varied and the majority are reasonably priced, especially fot students or if travelling within a group. Nights out can be busy and sometimes a little tacky, depending on where you go, however there are also some nice, more sophisicated places to go which can result in a good relaxed night out. Places to eat out are varied and plenty, as are takeaways. The city is also fairly historical with some nice places to visit as a "tourist". The intu allows for a wide shopping experience with everything needed in one centre. Entertainment is on hand with 2 theatres, the arena and many smaller venues with a variety of shows/performances.
