Shopping is great as there is a large selection of designer as well as ocal shops and restaurant chains to choose from, you can easily find what youre looking for in the town centre and retail parks nearby. Only problem can be traffic due to the amount of twisty lanes and roads however buses are quite frequent across the entire city

Canterbury is the perfect student town. The picturesque cobbled streets capture the towns history perfectly, the cathedral towers over the city and it's streets lined with boutiques and retail shops. Canterbury has everything you need and more!! There are tons of good restaurants and bars, all within a different price range. The streets are filled with character and entertainment, there are buskers on every corner and market stalls selling handmade gifts. Canterbury is also surrounded by parks, there are two big parks that are great for eating lunch in. My favourite thing about Canterbury is the marlowe theatre, especially as a student. Discovery tickets are available to all big shows for just £10, you just have to be between the ages of 16-25 to get the offer. Major west end shows regularly make an appearance at the theatre, including War Horse, Legally Blonde, Hairspray and many more. Overall Canterbury is the perfect student town, with lots to see and do... and GREAT shopping!

Canterbury is a brilliant city to be a student in. We have an abundance of shops to choose from, especially when we're going food shopping, so it's easier to find good value from your money. The night life is brilliant, we have so many options of clubs and bars, and there's a fair amount of security so it feels a lot safer.

Canterbury is a wonderful city which is environmentally conscious and dominated by the variety of students it takes in. It has beautiful surrounding areas , my personal favourite Whitstable Beach. It can have a small town feel sometimes because the night life can seem quite limited. The main clubs that students go to are Cuban and Club Chemistry or bar/club The Loft and on campus nightclub The Venue which is located at the University of Kent. However if you’re more of a pub person then your fun is almost limitless! Canterbury is an hour away from London on the fast train which is convenient for when you need a big city feel! It is also in the South East of England near the coast , making it convenient to travel to Europe on s budget, with friends or solo! Be sure to get a railcard - it’ll make your from city to city a lot cheaper.

Good area and due to the selection of unis in the area the atmosphere is alwasy good and existing! Best thing about Canterbury is in the summer near the lakes making it a nice contrast against the busy main streets

Canterbury Christ church university is situated in the heart of Canterbury making it walking distance of everything. It offers both on and off campus accommodation but all are again in walking distance of the town centre. The town centre itself is home to all the large food chains and also various sole trader restaurants which, from my experience, have all been pleasant. Likewise for shops. Initially Canterbury doesn’t seem to have many night clubs but with those available offering student nights, events and cheap drinks, Canterbury night life is buzzing (especially for students). Additionally, with shops and restaurants shutting late and Canterbury being on a smaller scale, there are people around at all hours within the night. The town centre is home to a large bus station with buses being frequent and easily accessible. Also there are fast food home delivery services such as: deliveroo and Uber Eats working into the night.

The location was brilliant. It was peaceful and busy at the same time, without the big city chaos that you often find in London. It was nice to know that shops and entertainment venues were close by as well. However, the roads were often heavily congested.

So much to do in canterbury. Lots of shops that cater for a variety of tastes and lots of things to do such as the cinema and the cathedral. There is lovely historic buildings.

The location is pretty, in a nice town with lots of shops and nightclubs around. The only problem is overcrowding, there are two major universities and lots of locals and tourists around, making it hard to manoeuvre around at times. However, there are plenty of places to eat after a night out which is a bonus!

Great City. Lots of bars and pubs which are better than the clubs. I prefer this so its great for me! Be prepared to walk a lot, its a lot easier than trying to get public transport or a taxi. Great places to sit in summer outdoors and close to seaside towns.

Canterbury is such a cute, quaint town with lots of history. The cathedral is what brings people from all over the world but the rest of the city is just as lovely.

Canterbury is a beautiful city which is full of history and culture. It includes an array of independent shops and eatery’s - perfect for visitors or just a leisurely day out! The main downfall is the lack of a decent music scene and nights out are always the same. A venue to play live music and bring a new vibe to the city would be loved by many!

The location of the uni was very close to town, although Canterbury as a city isn’t very big! Canterbury is quite an odd town in the sense that it’s a lovely place for shopping, eating and history, but it’s also good for a night out. An odd mixture of both quaint history and student promiscuerty.

Canterbury has a lot going for it with quite a few historical places to see such as the cathedral as well as a range of cafes/bars/pubs and restaurants. The city center has all the shops you could ask for ranging from Debenhams to poundland, and from Zara to H and M. There's something for everyone. In terms of restaurants there are a large amount catering to all of peoples dietary needs.. From Vegan pubs and restaurants to places like Pizza hut and Wagamamams. You'd be spoilt for choice on where to eat. On a night out there is quite a bit to do as there are quite a few bars... Some however very pricy. There is of course spoons.. In fact 2 at Canterbury which can't be a bad thing! For clubs there are not many with only around 3 that I've heard of. In terms of value for money.. I'd say Canterbury is ok and it changes from where you shop and what you get, whilst not extravegantly expensive I wouldn't say its great value for money in Canterbury either.

Canterbury is the best if both worlds, very quiet and nice place to live and visit and there isnt many incidents, plenty of scenery and nice gardens and at night it still offers a variety of clubs and pubs that can accommodate both University of kent students and Canterbury christ church students. I would recommend the location.

The best thing about Canterbury is that it's 45 mins from London via the high speed train. The sea side is also very close by. The city is busy enough that there are a good number of shops and restaurants. But is still on the quiet side compared to bigger cities.

Amazing town centre, everything and more. Quaint little cafes to chain restaurants and stores. Great for students

I chose my university because of the good location, which is 1h from london and at the same time I thought south of UK would be less cold that say Liverpool or Glasgow. The food in my town is good and relative cheaper than London. There's 4 big night clubs in Canterbury which is always good for anyone who likes partying. A lot of bars and pubs are also available to just chill and catch up with friends

Such a bustling city, always full of life, day or night. Not only is there history in this amazing city, but there’s a brilliant night life, with great social aspects and you’re in the a brilliant place for shopping.

The demographic of the public varies between the times you visit the town. Tourists can outnumber locals on sunny Sundays to visit the cathedral but then on a quiet weekday the locals are lovely welcoming people, they treat you as you treat them and as a student I learned that fast! Its so easy to fall in love with all the lakes, rivers and fields that make shopping and relaxing a perfect day out- not to mention the multitude of pubs available at the next corner!

There’s a couple of really good places in Canterbury for students to either go for a drink or a night out! Chem, Cuban, penny theatre, glitterball. There are also many shops, loads of charity shops (great for students) and lovely places to eat out or sit by the river with a picnic!

I think Canterbury is a lovely city daytime and night, however I have found it very costly to live here. I like near Canterbury west so shops are very close on the high street, however groceries wise, I only have a small Sainsbury’s as the nearest Tesco is 15 minuets walk (and smaller) and the Asda is double that. The clubs are great and there are a lot of bars to chose from which is great, however again one of the most popular clubs costs £7 just to get into.

excellent location for travelling to london, which takes less than one hour by train. foods and shopping is nice compared to other small cities and very comfortable weather. nightouts will not discourage you since the venue is right inside the university! strolling around canterbury will give you good motivations and healing times.

Night life is great, cheap for students, accomodation is a bit steep, there’s not too much to do during the day if you can’t drive
