Clubs in Canterbury such as Cuban and Chemistry are fun and reasonably priced. There is a mixture of fast food restaurants and nice restaurants with delicious food. In terms of shopping, there are a few popular store but not many. There are movies theatres as well.

The town is lively and has a lot of clothing stores, cafes, and restaurants. It is filled with tourists and students. It has a nice atmosphere, one day a week you have market stalls and there are often street musicians which add to the ambience.

Value for money: kind of expensive. It's the south innit. Shopping: cute town centre and shops. Can always travel to other places. Nights out: limited to around 5 same places. Gets samey. Overall, nice to visit, very pleasant. Can get pretty boring after a year, especially nights out. Looks pretty.

Canterbury is an unexpectedly lively City, my first impression was that it was an old school medieval looking town but once I got used to it I realised there's actually a lot to do from the nightlife to just social nights out to the cinema. The Town centre is great for shopping with a variety of high street chains to shop at. However the only downside is if you're living far away from town with no vehicle, shops close s little bit earlier than I was used to in London so it took a bit of getting used to. Overall I'd say it's a picturesque little city to live in & I don't know what my Uni experience would've been like I'd it wasn't Canterbury.

Canterbury is great for sightseeing and family days out. Quite a few Night club options but nothing that compares to the vibes of a night out in London. If you don't have money, and it's cold, there's nothing to do but stay home and entertain yourself. During summer it's a great place for bike rides, close to the sea side and lots of green spaces to relax, have picnics and play games. It's a hub for pensioners, tourists and students. Weird mix.

The nights out are pretty average compared to a big city like London, Manchester etc. Good eateries for all sorts of food. Plenty of shops to do your shopping. There isn't an awful lot to do for students to be honest. Value for money is also pretty poor with it being very similar to London prices.

Canterbury is a small city but has all the essentials. Coming from Birmingham, I find nights out are more expensive but day to day spending is similar due to large names like Aldi and Asda

Nights out are not great. Shopping is decent, food is okay, value for money is average. Nice surroundings but run out of things to do quickly

Their is a large variety of things to do like shopping eating out and everything is great for its vaule

It's a very small city, not a huge range of things to do but theres a few student led activists. You have to really find your own way to entertain yourself a lot of the time. Cinema isn't too bad but that's really it. Lots of food shops around (supermarkets) but clothes shopping is quite dull very small selection for males but for females it's quite varied. Busses are okay if you're going from the bus station but travelling past a certain time they're very infrequent (don't really on the bus times they say are st the bus station they'd either early or late.) taxis are pretty cheap and there's a few to choose from.

Canterbury is a very beautiful, quaint town. It is quite small so there is a fairly limited choice in where to go but places like ashford, Margate, blue water and much more are only a short journey by bus or train. The town is full of shops and restaurants, both high street and independent so there is still a lot of variety. There is a range of places to go on a night out from quiet pubs and bars to nightclubs which all host special events so there is always something going on. Just be aware that the whole area is very 'hilly' and the transport services are not that great so most people walk.

There are a lot of places to shop in Canterbury with all the amenities one might need and a range of shops to choose from including tesco, zara, poundland and many others. There are also a lot of restaurants in the city centre so one will not be found cut short of choices. I would say Caterbury is not the best when it comes to value for money, but also if going and looking in the right places it can be made very affordable.

Great place for students who don't like to party. Nice pubs bars but clubs are a no go..residents in canterbury are a bit rude and I have had circumstances with the locals that have been racist towards me and my friends as well as judgmental.

Loads of various food shops and shopping places that you would get in your hometown. However everything is more or less London price in terms of cab and buses.. you can get a day rider showing your uni ID which is £2.90 for the day

The sleepy city of Canterbury boasts many pubs, with plenty of transport links to other areas of Kent and London, it's a neat city to be in if you don't wanna hang around, or just relax and take in the night sky (little light pollution) and fresh air (10 miles from the sea). However you'll need plenty of cash as the booze can be pricey if you're going anywhere other than Wetherspoons. It's certainly a place for people who prefer pubs over clubs, you'll be pushed to find a decent club in Canterbury, Club Chemistry doesn't quite cut it when compared to big city venues. Once you're on the high street all the things you need aren't too spread apart, making it a place you can definitely kill two birds with one stone. I would recommend the city if you don't like long distances, it does pay the price though of lacking the bigger city attractions as Canterbury can seem rather cramped. I would like to end on the volume of restaurants in the city, you can eat somewhere new every week for the rest of your degree! My personal favourite being the Korean Cowgirl on the King's Mile, a superb take on American BBQ combined with Korean cuisine. An overall rating of 3 stars does seem quite harsh so consider it a 3.5/5. If you don't venture out of Canterbury during your stay then you've certainly missed an opportunity.

Nice place to be, far too expensive for student living, night life is okay there’s enough going on, very good transport links easy to get back home.

Canterbury has 4 main clubs, which can eventually get slightly repetitive. The shopping is alright, all of your essentials can be bought in town, however your selection is slightly limited. The selection of places to eat out however is pretty extensive, with all of the main chains available.

Nice place to chill out. Relax life in Canterbury. Convenient to walk around and all the shop are just in one street which you could find what you need in one time.

In terms of clubs there aren’t that many compared to other uni cities but the on campus club is fun when you are part of a society as this is where everyone goes. During the day there is a lot of things to do and there is a lot of history in the town of Canterbury. There are loads of cute restaurants and bars hidden away and it is generally a very pretty city.

A few clubs and many pubs/bars in the town center. But other than that, you will have to travel if you get bored easily.

Canterbury used to be a pretty nice city, but the over years crime has risen quite a lot and the vibe of the city is now quite hostile.
