Great location, bottom of Gloucester road so there are alot of nice pubs and places to eat, also close to stokes croft which has some pretty good clubs. Great social experience for me, really down to earth people. The only downside is that the rooms can be a bit rubbish since some don't have windows but it varies quite a bit (I got lucky with mine). All in all a solid place to live for your first year.

Horrific - when I moved in there was blood on the mattress topper and the shower was held together with sellotape. My box room cost more than my student loan for the year and didn't even have a window, just a skylight at the end of a long tunnel in the cieling, which I had to open using a pole that hung down in the middle of the room.

It was a cheap halls and you got what you paid for. The rooms were varying in size, it just happened that I got the smallest in my flat but it was functional and served it's purpose. The social aspect was great as it was a much smaller halls so had more of a community feel. Since my year moving out they have taken our comments on board and done some of the jobs that needed doing - lucky for some!
