There are a few amazing events (e.g. pier party), and the events team in the students' union are amazing. However, the university just doesn't put enough effort in, and our freshers is much smaller compared to other universities. There is also (as ever) too much of a pressure to get outrageously drunk. Realistic alternatives, that students will actually want to attend, would be nice.

I had an absolute blast !! But the organised events were were not interesting to me as the venues and activities were not cool.

Not worth buying UoS freshers wristband and BSMS medsoc one- not enough time BSMS wristband- doesnt really save you that much, should introduce us to all bars on campus

I had loads of fun during freshers’, everyday there was a wide variety of events during both day and night and I got to meet many people with my same interests beyond getting to know my own flatmates.

It was great, I am third year and living off campus so was expecting less of a crazy freshers. But my gf had moved from the US to Sussex for the semester, two of my best friends had come down from the unis (a yearly ritual) and I didn't have all the stresses of being new and making new friends. If I had tip for a fresher it would be to be yourself because people will see through you otherwise and embrace the time because these will be some amazing years ahead of you, starting now
