The University of Sheffield

Very good students union (won best in the country for 10 years running). Very good jobs available in a range of different roles. Pays above minimum wage and pays for training and DBS is required.

The facility are good and I do enjoy how there are various buildings for lectures. I enjoy how the university is in the Heart of the City Centre. It's not far from many good places to eat like London Road or west street. The staff are present and if anything came up, we'd know through black board

Fantastic city and lovely people, student bar and union are great. The main problem I find is the lack of support from tutors, you hear stories of them being supportive, but they look down upon you when you can't wrap your head around content, when they've been studying it for years. Uni experience overall is great.

I am in my third year now and have had an absolutely amazing time at the University of Sheffield. There is so much to take part in and join, like sports clubs and other societies. I was welcomed onto my course from day 1, and the lecturers really do care about you and want you to do well. What is lovely about this university is that although it is a city-based university, all the buildings are really close together and do have a feel of a campus as the university is not spread around the whole city.

I have had a good experience with the University of Sheffield. Obtaining a Business Management degree was not overwhelming challenging, as most of the module information was made easily accessible. However, there were times where instead of an essay the professors could have used a more hands on approach and given undergraduates real life business tasks. The Marketing and Entrepreneurship modules are recommended for people who prefer experience over essay style examination. Sheffield is known for its hills so beware the University is quite spread out and many times you need to walk for a long period of time to get from one facility to another (future students need to take that into consideration when choosing modules). Nightlife is amazing and so are the social events. Definitely worth putting in that £5 to join one of the societies.

Amazing academics, top student union, beautiful campus and great support services. I love my course (history)

Large and open campus that's very modern and well-equipped. Excellent student's Union with everything you could possibly want and need, both societies and nightlife. My course is very broad and covers many topics, with very supportive staff to lend a hand whenever they can. Careers service always happy to help and gives plenty of advice.

Courses seem very well thought out. Accommodation is great. Sports facilities are good. SU is great, with some top club nights.

A university with great facilities. Several libraries with different styles and sizes to meet different students needs. An award winning student union which helps integrate the social aspects of the University.

The university is good but it really does depend on your course and who you get put in a flat with in first year. My overall experience of first year was bad because of that but with a lot of effort I've managed to make good of it.

The campus, while not the traditional red-brick isolated campus, is one of the best things about the uni. It's spread all across the city, which means that you get to learn the ins and outs of Sheffield just by going to class. The city of Sheffield is great too, being an amazing student city if you like nightlife and sports and a green city as well if you like environmentally-friendly eateries and nature. The SU is the best thing about Sheffield as it's the central hub for all social activities while also being where most student living support (e.g. jobshop, grocery shop) is located. I've had few complaints about Sheffield since I started here...only shame is that the Languages and Arts departments aren't as supported as the technical and science departments such as engineering and business. Nevertheless I cannot recommend this University enough!

The University has been amazing soo far. I really love the students Union and the closeness of the buildings to each other so it's easier to get to class in the morning for those dreadful 9ams. Also love the social aspect as it makes alot of work bearable and the university always has you at mind.

The University of Sheffield is an excellent choice for anyone. I can't speak personally about all the courses as I've only done Business Management, but the facilities and overall impression is great.

Brilliant staff and friendly lecturers. The course structure is very well set out and you're always busy. The student union is the best in the country and it shows, their support is constant and they're always on call to help you out. The student life is soooooo good and you'll never run out of things to do, no matter your interests.

I really enjoy my course (economics) i believe it is taught well and they offer a lot of opportunities to work in the real world.

Im in the mbb department Its very good! Only thing I disliked was thst lecturers felt a bit distant and busy, but that could be because I come from a different educational background.. The mentor scheme helped where a senior student would help me with any confusion or problem I had The student union, facilities, and careers service are all great! Staff are always happy to help and international support is taken seriously The environment at the uni is very safe and friendly, also professional and education focused There are soo many opportunities for students, we get lots of independence freedom and support to be creative and innovative, that can be seen by how many student run societies there are, and by the fact that the Students union is fully student run.

Teaching is really good on my course, lectures are easy to contact and always help when needed. The libraries around campus have good facilities and are always clean creating a welcoming working space

As a second year at Sheffield University, I would say it has an incredibly friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The lectures are knowledgable and helpful and make content accessible and understandable. There are lots of societies to join, amazing first year accommodation and an abundance of events put on by the students union. Love it here!

The campus is so nice, although it's a city based university everything is close together so you don't have to walk miles but you're still in the centre of the hustle and bustle. The medicine course is enjoyable, love having early contact with patients, helps you not lose sight of why you wanted to be a doctor. The students Union is the best, there's so many places to eat, coffee revs is great! The welcome desk is so so helpful. I love the student nights out at the SU.

The experience at the university of sheffield is a great one. It is an excellent city with lots of green space. The university has excellent facilities.

Really good facilities and good that the accommodation is in one big area ! The students union is always offering events and has lots of good places to eat. The village store in Endcliffe is also a very useful place to get last minute food. Overall brilliant facilities.

Amazing student union with plenty of food options, the IC is a good study space but needs more seating. The SU holds lots of club nights which are always good so would recommend those! They also have a careers service which I haven't tried but the housing team is helpful There's always somewhere to go if you need support, whether in your department or elsewhere. Only disappointing part was as with any course, there were some poor lecturers who made mistakes in the exams. There was also a disparity between standards of modules so ask for advice on which modules are best from previous students.
