The University of Sheffield

I have just finished my second year and the university and so far I have had an incredible experience. The students union is just fantastic, it offers such a wide range of activities and resources in comparison to the other universities I looked at. I study maths with spanish and have found it interesting though challenging st times, the only issue I have had has been communications between departments and length of Spabjsh classes (3 hours). Having suffered with mental health problems and struggling through grief I found the university services extremely helpful, allowing me to continue my studies throughout the difficulties.

One of the best decisions of my life was to go to UOS. I've had incredible experiences from fun nights out to career opportunities like no other. The university is incredibly supportive of your personal development both in your degree and in extra curriculars. There is so much help available in all fields from mental health to careers services and industrial exposure. Couldn't have choosen a better university.

Very good university with a lot of attention payed to the needs and wishes of students. The campus is located conveniently on the edge of the city centre but all the buildings are close enough together.

sheffield has the best student union in the country and the nights out there are amazing. Sheffield is a non campus uni however the buildings are so close together so it is ideal. Sheffield has many societies to join and there would definetly be something for you.

Library facilities are great. Course is good but could be more challenging. Feedback is not provided within 3 week limit.

The campus itself is a very open spaced campus and can take a while to get from one side to another, however the beautiful greenery and buildings will make it a plesaple trip. The gem of Sheffield university, being the Diamond, is a very modern building that gives all the essentials an average engineering student requires (that includes comfy sofas for those engineers studying at night). Plus being open 24/7 means you wont miss deadlines if you really need to use the facilities. The Diamond is a very large building offering many computer desks an printing facilities. Another useful building is the Information Commons, or better known as IC for short. The IC is where you can not only get all the general information you need but they also have a library and study spaces, plus the building is a few minutes walk away from the student union which means no excuses for not working.

University of Sheffield is one of the top 100 universities in the world. Services on campus are so much helpful to us and the people who work there.

Fantastic city and lovely people, student bar and union are great. The main problem I find is the lack of support from tutors, you hear stories of them being supportive, but they look down upon you when you can't wrap your head around content, when they've been studying it for years. Uni experience overall is great.

I have had a good experience with the University of Sheffield. Obtaining a Business Management degree was not overwhelming challenging, as most of the module information was made easily accessible. However, there were times where instead of an essay the professors could have used a more hands on approach and given undergraduates real life business tasks. The Marketing and Entrepreneurship modules are recommended for people who prefer experience over essay style examination. Sheffield is known for its hills so beware the University is quite spread out and many times you need to walk for a long period of time to get from one facility to another (future students need to take that into consideration when choosing modules). Nightlife is amazing and so are the social events. Definitely worth putting in that £5 to join one of the societies.

Courses seem very well thought out. Accommodation is great. Sports facilities are good. SU is great, with some top club nights.

Brilliant staff and friendly lecturers. The course structure is very well set out and you're always busy. The student union is the best in the country and it shows, their support is constant and they're always on call to help you out. The student life is soooooo good and you'll never run out of things to do, no matter your interests.

Im in the mbb department Its very good! Only thing I disliked was thst lecturers felt a bit distant and busy, but that could be because I come from a different educational background.. The mentor scheme helped where a senior student would help me with any confusion or problem I had The student union, facilities, and careers service are all great! Staff are always happy to help and international support is taken seriously The environment at the uni is very safe and friendly, also professional and education focused There are soo many opportunities for students, we get lots of independence freedom and support to be creative and innovative, that can be seen by how many student run societies there are, and by the fact that the Students union is fully student run.

Amazing student union with plenty of food options, the IC is a good study space but needs more seating. The SU holds lots of club nights which are always good so would recommend those! They also have a careers service which I haven't tried but the housing team is helpful There's always somewhere to go if you need support, whether in your department or elsewhere. Only disappointing part was as with any course, there were some poor lecturers who made mistakes in the exams. There was also a disparity between standards of modules so ask for advice on which modules are best from previous students.

The university offers a range of extra curricular activities and there is something for everyone. There is even the possibility for you to start your own club, if nothing takes your fancy and this ensures that students are able to meet new people, away from their studies, that share similar interests. Even in regards to my course, the societies organise regular social events and meals out so that you can socialise with your peers and make friends. The tutors on my course are very supportive and they are knowledgeable about their field of study. I am thoroughly enjoying my time at university.

Great University with an excellent student's union. The university halls of residence are well kept and spacious. The lecturers are great and only a small minority are below par in terms of bias and amount of content. There's lots of events including a multitude of free ones and a university cinema room where you can see cult classics for 3.50 or free.

The su is the best part of the university offering a variety of services and societies. The career service is very helpful providing plenty of resources and helping students every step of the way to improve cvs and direct and guide students towards career goals. The chemistry department is very good, offering students loads of oppurtunities to gain skills in volunteering Etc. The lectures are very well taught with plenty of recsources made available online or in the library or even provided by pecturers themselves.

the location is really great, its like city and countryside combined. theres lots of student opportunities because there are so many students here

Fantastic for engineering and similar STEM courses, however contact hours are poor for humanities subjects notably politics

Campus is a great central location with many facilities. The inclusivity for people from less fortunate backgrounds is faultless and there are always new opportunities to do anything from volunteering to trying new sports.

Really enjoying the university so far. Fantastic range of societies for all tastes, especially with their various music groups. Also lots of sports teams but they're expensive to join and most are competitive, so there are limited options for people who want to do a sport just for fun. Fantastic SU with a good range of activities, including lots of non-drinking events which is appreciated. Really enjoy the course but the lecture theatre is always freezing cold!
