Not quite been the life-changing experience I was hoping for but still year abroad and 4th year to go

I attended the University or Reading between September ‘17-March ‘18, however after careful consideration I made the decision to leave. The main reason for this was the lack of support and organisation from the University. I was told within the first week there was not enough staff for me to have a personal tutor, meaning when later issues involving my course as well as my health arose, I was unsure where I could go for help. Within my course, lectures often involved repeated material and powerpoints, suggesting that there had been no collective input from the lectures themselves, with very little structure throughout the course.

THe campus is very lovely and green. It makes it very nice to live here and gives you good mental health. I really enjoy my course despite the amount of hours. The student’s union is nice and the people they employ are helpful.

AMAZING The accommadation is really nice and its super close to the main campus which is convient. Also as it is on campus everything i need is nearby and it even has a coop which is very useful. Within my course there are lots of opportunites with study abroad, placement years and the abilty to pick other modules from different departments.

Great campus- not far from town, only a short walk or bus journey but it has lots of green space which is nice Lots of opportunities at the uiversiry within your course because you have the option to take other modules from different departments and the ability to study abroad dwhich include Australia, Europe and America.

Lovely facilities with very green campus and comfortable accommodations . The student welfare is also very good as they take time to cater to stressed students by having different activities to relax them such as a mini farm , breakfast baskets , free tea and cakes

Excellent night life and student union. Good facilities such as gym and football pitches. Good sports teams and groups to join such as swimming and poker. Excellent town for shopping and clubbing. However stayed at wantage, very bad accommodation, social but depressing rooms and bathrooms. Nightlife is reasonably cheap if you’re careful easy to get caught by paying for too many drinks in clubs. All in all good uni and good vibes just watch accommodation and make sure course is right for you.

London road campus is well kept and very pretty. The Student union are really good with communicating to students and continually organising a whole range of events. The university always holds informative careers guide sessions which are really helpful.

I have loved the last few years at Reading but recently it’s got worse. The library is being renovated and the alternative study spaces are far from sufficient despite the unions efforts. The main room of the union is also being renovated so my last term at uni our SU club is half closed. The strikes have affected reading with little support from the union or our schools to replace content time and exams have not be changed accordingly. Unfortunate that Reading has gone down hill recently.

Reading Uni has a very large campus and great facilities , however they lack a good library even though they have relocated their library for construction right now. Some of the buildings are old and need refurbishment. Student support is great and professors offer a lot of support if your approach them. Great overall uni experience

The campus is quite big so you don’t really get bored of being there, there’s loads of places to study and the library is open 24/7 unlike other unis that aren’t. 24/7 library is so useful especially when you have multiple deadlines.

Reading University’s campus is one of the best I have ever visited and hosts everything from its students union, library and Starbucks to its weekly international food as well as fruit and veg market. Nights out at the student union are fantastic with great DJs and reasonably priced drinks. The careers service is also excellent and have helped me secure a job after Uni. There are also over one hundred societies to join and plenty of sport and charity events to get involved in.

The University of Reading main Whiteknights campus is lovely and big, with peaceful gardens and lake for going on walks during breaks. My course (archaeology) is great. Staff across the university are friendly and helpful, and there is a great careers centre. The only problem with the uni at the moment is the library situation: a lot of money is putting into renovating the library (which NO STUDENT wanted, and was not entirely required), and it upsets me personally because cuts are being made to my department. The university is trying its best to provide a decent amount of study space to replace the library study space.

As an art student it is brilliant that the department is open twenty four hours a day and hardly ever shut. The student tutors are really nice and helpful to go to.

The university as a whole seems to be great. The campus is amazing, there are lots of fields and green spases, there is also everything a student might need. Last year we had an amazing library, where we could go and study in the study spaces, but unfortunately (for me and all the people who are studying now) they are renovating it so we cannot access the study spaces anymore. However, the university has made an effort to provide as many study areas as possible, even though they are not enough. Other than that, it is a well equipped university with a very professional staff that makes sure that all the students are getting the best education.

As an international student, I never felt like I'd missed home simply because the campus (and its people) are so welcoming. I've joined various societies of my interests, and living on campus is always so convenient. Lecturers are also very approachable despite the large number of students, and the careers' officers have put in so much effort in helping me with applications for placements such as with interviews, CVs etc. I also always appreciate the field trips that the university organizes, it's a great way for me to explore beautiful parts of the UK without having to spend too much or worry about where to go next. All in all, really love how peaceful and homely the university can be.

The campus is very picturesque and there is a lot of green space. The students union is probably the best club around. The problem is the library which is being refurbished so it can be a struggle finding anywhere to sit. The course is quite well organised.

I absolutely love Reading University. The campus feels safe as well as having a lively atmosphere during day and night. Halls is probably my favourite aspect of my university experience. The premium en suite rooms are lovely, I feel at home. Halls hotline are available 24/7 and really helpful in times of emergency e.g. losing keys, fixing issues. I study law and the law department is fabulous. If you need support there is always someone there to help as well as a scenic building (Foxhill House) which is by far the nicest building on campus. Lastly, the students union is amazing. Not only have I experienced being there as a customer, but also behind the bar. The team are amazing and accommodating if you’re struggling to balance uni work and your shifts. All in all, Reading is brilliant and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

Univeristy has thought me a valuable lesson. I am an international student currently studying and living in Reading. From the quiet days, to the fun party nights the town boasts of amazing people and ambiance that I will always enjoy. The Univeristy itself has its ups and downs as normal Univeristuies tend to have from the easy commuting to the thought lectures and sometimes boring atmosphere I have copped with it and have enjoyed it through it all

The campus is great- you will always see people you know, but there're quiet green spaces if you need time to yourself. My department (philosophy) is full of scholars who know their stuff but can chat beyond it too. This makes them friendly and has only made me a better philosopher. The gym is small but cheap, well equipped and easy to get to. The uni staff are always super helpful and kind. The library's currently being renovated which has made studying a bit more difficult- I hope the improvements are worth it. But it's still open and still has 90% of the books I've needed. Reading town isn't big but there're a few good music venues, indie cafes and the nightlife is big enough to offer some surprises. Reading is a commuter town so transport is comprehensive but expensive. Halls are great fun- the student culture is a good blend of academically inclined but willing to take it easy, too. The careers service has been really helpful this year- finding and even supplying part time work, internships and graduate jobs.

The campus is the University's main selling point, in my opinion. It is green, environmentally friendly and constantly buzzing with life. Being a campus university, everything including the Student Union, cafes and lectures are all fairly central and if there is a walk required, it is no more than fifteen minutes and entails a lovely view along the way.

Course - Law 10/10 - amazing lecturers and materials we are taught is done to a hugh standard Union 10/10, cheap drinks and good nightlife Careers services 10/10 - always careers fairs for us to attend to sort out careers or placement

the campus is pretty but there aren't enough events on. More live music events involving the students and things to create a buzz around campus would be great

The campus and facilities are great, so are most of the halls. The marking and online services aren’t great.
