The University of Reading

I moved from Dublin to Reading straight from school and it became home. I loved the campus, the town and the people. Really ideal university for people who want a bigger city feel still within campus grounds. It's proximity to London also meant it was the ideal place for airport commutes and trips to London

I think Reading is a very good University with lots of facilities for everyone to use on campus however construction is taking a long time with buildings such as the library so study space can be an issue. The student Union is great and very large to cater for everyone's needs and i thoroughly enjoy my course and have access to great learning facilities.

I love the campus. I like the facilities and think the social side is really good such as sports and union. Furthermore, the library is a massive issue. I genuinely believe I should receive money back seeing as I will not be able to use the full library the whole time I'm at uni. I dislike my course. I feel the uni itself is very disorganised and they have no idea how to deal with it. So many issues have arisen due to lack of organisation. I'm not sure if that is just my department but I have heard similar things from friends.

A great uni with a gorgeous campus. Fox hill house is the prettiest building by far. I am also pleasantly surprised by how quickly the new library is getting along which helps with study space

The campus is vast and full of so much greenery. I love the beauty and nature of the campus. Obviously it doesn't effect learning but I would much rather have this wonderful place to study than not. The lake is especially pretty to walk around and attracts, dog walkers, runners and cyclists which is good too. I do straight History which has been very rewarding. Often there isn't enough contact hours but I love the available modules and that they are all even. I think the core modules should have an in class test so that we are more encouraged to attend class in first and second year. Hall are way too expensive for what they are. I loved living in them but I don't get enough money from the government to cover halls at all. I think real effort should be put in to try and make halls experience cheaper for students.

The campus is beautiful and is kept to the highest standards. The SU is great, especially now it has been updated. The new library is lovely, and with the URS library still open provides lots of study space. The food market on a Thursday is always a highlight of the week with a chance to try out lots of new foods. My course (BSc FMBE) is good although could have more food related module choices that overlap with the food science department to reach the interests of the foodies on the course.

Before university I knew I had an interest in geography and that getting a degree would benefit me in any career surrounding humanities, now I am extremely passionate for many areas of my subject I didn't even knew existed and am applying for additional study in meteorology. All lecturers are extremely approachable and have helped massively both inside and outside of the modules. The facilities that Reading currently has are good, and once the library is finished will be even better. I have taken part in volunteer programmes set up by the university, life classes, career development days, language modules and field classes, and everything run by the university is professional and useful. Night life is great because there are a range of reasonable sized clubs and different events, and the union has a real community feel. There are societies to fit every interest, and this year a social netball league within the university has been added which gives even more opportunities to people who just want to play sport for fun. There are things that can be improved in every university, but I will be genuinely sad when I finish studying at Reading.

My university experience has been an extremely positive one. I have been impressed with all the additional career help and guidance that the university provides which has made me excited for the future. I would recommend for anyone who is unsure on what they want to do to pursue a subject they love at the uni.

Everything is lovely about the university I just feel that organisation and admin could be better. I've had emails to check assessment scores online yet they have actually forgotten to put them up etc. Love the campus and my course itself I just feel like things could be run more smoothly.

I love the campus, I prefer it to a city style uni. It's a very calm, nice campus and I feel safe walking around it. My course is intense but so so good and is an amazing opportunity for me and what I want to do in the future. The mental health team are also really supportive, as is student support to assist the academic side of things.

I have studied law and most of the teaching staff was extremely helpful. I really enjoyed my course and lecturers passion made more challenging modules more enjoyable. I think student union provides great facilities.

The campus I've seen are very nicely organised, full of kind friendly students and always clean. Compared to other campuses I have come across at other universities. The organisation generally is very helpful especially the help desk in the student area.

Good campus, lots of green areas. Student union is great, however the main Starbucks outlet closes at 5 which can be quite inconvenient. Union drink prices are decent, food isn't bad either. Library is pretty good now most of the refurb work is done and there's a cute cafe and places to actually sit and study

Excellent university with great facilities for students. The union provide lots of helpful advice for students whilst most lecturers are friendly and approachable and willing to help out students although a few are less helpful. The course is very good and develops knowledge of one subject year on year if I wish so it doesn't jump around. A lot of options to choose modules and can sometimes choose outside the standard modules for your course.

Great diversity of students and incredibly eco friendly campus. This campus provide various service such as student support in careers, mental health and etc. Located 20 min walking distance away from the town. Provides wide choices of university accommodation and summer stay.

The campus is improving however the facilities within the students union could be better. The campus is very leafy and has a nice atmosphere. It is also in a very nice location and to other good cities.

Reading uni is truly a place where I feel at home. The campus itself is large but closed off for the town as a whole so you gain a sense of community as soon as you step onto sight. The union has lots to offer and the nights out are always great. Despite this, the organisation of some courses, such as chemistry, are shocking. Deadlines are constantly being moved around and submissions are always in archaic modes of placing paper in drop boxes. This needs to be fixed!!
