The University of Reading

The campus is an extensive green space with a lake which is very scenic. It’s a large campus but it feels like a community which is safe and friendly. The university have recently invested in a new library which will be useful for studying and resources. It’s an incentive to work harder when the facilities have been invested in. My course is large so it isn’t very personal and I feel like there should be more contact hours, particularly due to the level of difficulty and cost of the degree. The lecturers are readily available to help you during their office hours which helps when you don’t want to raise an issue in front of everyone in the lectures. We could have more emails from the student union as I don’t really know much about it other than the weekly club nights.

Overall, the university is good. There is a mix of good and bad lectures which is standard, however there are plenty of clubs and lots of community spirit to engage with. One prevalent issue though, is the lack of commuter engagement; there’s not enough entertainment or consideration for those who commute. For example, I have a lecture 10-11am and my next lecture is 5-6pm.

Good, alright, nice location, lots of trees, lots of roads, buses are near the university twenty four hours a day and are clean. It is easy to get anywhere in the city like Asda or a kebab shop if you are drunk and want some food late at night some even until 4am.

A good university, with a fun night out at 3sixty. SOme cmapus buildings could be of better quality, but hte new library is great.

University offers great student facilities and student union is very helpful, setting up plenty of events. Careers service is excellent with mentoring programs offered to help you start seeking a career and also helping you with guidance on your course and life in general! Sports available are extensive with many different socials and opportunities to get involved. Only downfall is the clubs in town are limited for a night out. Often repetitive, however saying this if you're with the right people it's always a good night!

Great campus and facilities, a bit far from town centre but very beautiful place itself. Very good nightlife events and activities going on. Excellent Sport facilities and fields. Several Cafés and bars around campus make the whole university experience great and gives you the chance to find your own place within the community.

Really good campus with really high standard of halls. Student union last great as well as loads of different clubs in town, all pretty cheap with good weekly events.

It is a really good university, very green and quiet. There are great places to eat and lots of halal options and vegan and vegetarian options. The lecturers aren't that good, they read from lectures and don't interact as much, but there are a rare few good ones. In psychology, Emma Pape, Dan Jones and Beth Law are really good lecturers.

Campus is green and beautiful. Some degrees are more funded than others providing an unfair advantage to some. Certain degrees are neglected as less people on them. Needs to provide more academic support.

The University of Reading is an overall good university. The campus facilities are good, the campus itself is beautiful and the student body is overall positive and this envelopes the campus in a very pleasant atmosphere. The only true downside is the ineffective management of the students union over the past couple of years, however that does seem to be changing for the better in recent times.

I am a first year Msci Speech and Language Therapy student. So far, I am thoroughly enjoying the course. I feel that we have much support from lecturers and the lectures themselves contain relevant and detailed content with lots of room for expansion of knowledge with extra reading and resources. We also have many opportunities for placements to apply the lecture content to the real world which helps to put things into perspective. The campus is beautiful. It has a lot of greenery and lots of room to walk and get fresh air. The gym on campus is great with many machines so I rarely have to wait to use any equipment. The classes are also very varied and have brilliant instructors who help individual needs. The student union has many events such as fruit and veg markets and vintage clothes stores. The club on campus is also very good with a wide range of music and cheap drinks providing for a great night out! Public transport into the centre of Reading is also very regular and reliable.

Really lovely campus with lots of green space, well kept-up buildings and facilities. Great student union with really good events and night club. Careers services and counselling and wellbeing services are good, and have been constantly improving since I started 2 years ago - they listened to students so are now doing more for student wellbeing. My course is enjoyable but I do not get anywhere near enough contact hours at a measly 4 hours per week - it varies so drastically from course to course and the university don't seem to see that as an issue. Overall have loved my time at uni, although there are still some big things that could be improved upon and these really should have been addressed before the current changes, like the £40 million library refurb (over 3 whole years), were started.

I think Reading is a very good University with lots of facilities for everyone to use on campus however construction is taking a long time with buildings such as the library so study space can be an issue. The student Union is great and very large to cater for everyone's needs and i thoroughly enjoy my course and have access to great learning facilities.

A great uni with a gorgeous campus. Fox hill house is the prettiest building by far. I am also pleasantly surprised by how quickly the new library is getting along which helps with study space

The campus is beautiful and is kept to the highest standards. The SU is great, especially now it has been updated. The new library is lovely, and with the URS library still open provides lots of study space. The food market on a Thursday is always a highlight of the week with a chance to try out lots of new foods. My course (BSc FMBE) is good although could have more food related module choices that overlap with the food science department to reach the interests of the foodies on the course.

My university experience has been an extremely positive one. I have been impressed with all the additional career help and guidance that the university provides which has made me excited for the future. I would recommend for anyone who is unsure on what they want to do to pursue a subject they love at the uni.

Everything is lovely about the university I just feel that organisation and admin could be better. I've had emails to check assessment scores online yet they have actually forgotten to put them up etc. Love the campus and my course itself I just feel like things could be run more smoothly.

Beautiful campus with a gorgeous lake. Loads and loads of opportunities and a highly supportive careers service. Shame about the lack of library

Uni of Reading has a great campus and an amazing group of faculty! The facilities are top notch and the halls of residence are a great place to stay! I would recommend people to definitely consider this university.

Good campus, lots of green areas. Student union is great, however the main Starbucks outlet closes at 5 which can be quite inconvenient. Union drink prices are decent, food isn't bad either. Library is pretty good now most of the refurb work is done and there's a cute cafe and places to actually sit and study
