The creative writing society is extremely welcoming to all students. There are loads of regular activities to get involved with: lit circles where there are various tasks and prompts to be creative with; free writing sessions where you can work on your own pieces; UoN radio where you can listen and/or read your pieces on the university radio; coffee shop critiques where you can discuss yours and others works in an informal setting with a coffee; regular socials and murder mysteries which are just a load of fun. I have been a member since 2013 when I started my undergrad and intend to remain a member for the next 4 years of my PhD! Whether you write a lot or just a little the society has something for you. The lit circles are the main event and there is no pressure to read out your own work if you don't want, but it is a great way to build confidence with public speaking.
