The University of Northampton

I’m currently a third year student on placement. I’m very unsatisfied with the move to waterside campus. For one, having no car parking for students is ridiculous. I am a commute student and chose to go to Northampton uni so I could save money through living at home and commuting. I now have to drive twice the distance past uni, to park my car, get a bus (that I have to pay for plus petrol), then drive practically all the way back home to get to uni. How ridiculous does that sound?

The university of Northampton has a lovely new campus at Waterside. My course is very stimulating and engaging. I have many opportunities to study in different areas which accommodate learning needs and I appreciate the support from staff members.

The campus itself is very new and professional, I love the new design and it makes me feel like I'm at a good university. The facilities are very good too. I enjoy my course massively and I believe the teachers are very good.

The university has fantastic facilities and the 24 hour library has been a massive help during my studies. The new site has brought everyone together from two separate campuses which is a great idea. The food caters for many diets and many cultures, which is great when Northampton is such a diverse town. It is close to local amenities. High teaching quality and great support for employment opportunities.

Good intentions, bad output. Lack of focus on students and more on marketing of the university. The new campus is nice but quality of teaching hasn't changed, are some really good teachers but are a lot of poor quality teachers who are either ill a lot of constantly reading off a slide show.

The new site looks fab but food is expensive, not enough water is accessible, only 1 microwave on the whole site to warm up food from home. Not enough books available, course changes from previous years means less contact time with tutors which I don't like. No parking on site for students, I worked in the library last week till 1am.. no bus to take me back to park and ride.. after getting a lift, the park and ride was closed with my car inside! Not happy, I got home at 3am that morning

I've had a lot of ups and downs at this uni. The councelling staff are amazing and really supportive when I've gone through stuff but I feel that paying millions of pounds for a campus with no parking is really questionable when a lot of students have cars or can't afford to get a house close to uni where there is easy bus access. Not only that but some of the uni rules are too strict for no reason but

The new campus looks nice, my course is really good in terms of travelling (international business). The student union is not that great and could do with improvements particularly the acs society. My overall experience has been many highs and a few lows.

Really nice quiet area to study, and many facilities opened for students. The course and lectures are really if great help. The location of the university far from town though and no free uni buses for students

Course was unorganised and unsuitable. Multiple changes in lecturers due to student complaints and final year made more stressful by being hauled into a wrongly accused academic misconduct meeting for plagiarism of a website on communism on an essay about the co op

The course I study is economics, most of the classes are easy to follow as we have great lecturers how ever over the past few years we had a few changes of lectures which led to difficulty for some students to adapt to a different a new style of learning and lectures . The university as a whole is helpful and when students are stryffling with personal issues they are helpful and take personal matters seriously. The career advice is also excell by which lectures emailing students at every turn when they get information about careers. Overall I have enjoyed my studies at Northampton university

Not very organised, not a lot of support for students and one lecturer will say one thing and another will say something different

Pretty campus. However, it isn't very close to the town centre. It is moving to the town centre later this year. My university experience at Northampton has been disorganised. I experienced problems enrolling and lots of last minute chnges on the course. The course also was not explained very well before accepting my place.

The lecturers definitely make The University of Northampton, they have made my university experience. They’re helpful and always there for you when you need some support. The university as a whole is good, the campus is smaller than normal universities but that’s what adds to the appeal, if you enjoy a close community then this is the uni for you. Other services such as Student support, financial team, Unitemps could be a lot better and at time, not very helpful. The organisation of my course which is Sociology is good. The students union could be a lot bigger but they do offer a number of great events and opportunities.
