University of Newcastle upon Tyne

The campus is beautiful, not too spaced round the city that it’s long to travel. Everything is quite close by and it isn’t too far to get a bite to eat after lectures. There is plenty of area to study. I take biology and the course provides me with a range of knowledge on biology along with many practical skills. The nightclub life is amazing! There is always something to do. The accomadation is good for most although I went to castle leaze which is probably the worst accommodation there is at Newcastle.

Pretty good uni , few too many plebs.good city with lots to do. Nights out are good and a fair few tech , baseline and d and b djs tour. There isn’t any grime tho which is shit.

So many beautifully constructed facilities that are mostly within the heart of the city, making it very accessible. Furthermore, NCL itself is a beauty. The marketing and management course is great too, with proper lectures by our professors. Only thing I wish could improve is that we dont have 2-3 2hrs lectures back to back, because it's tough to focus with no breaks.

Newcastle University is great! The induction week really helped me settle into the university life, with all of the support staff offering a lot of help - especially the sociology mentors who helped me along in my first semester. Amazing facilities such as the libraries which is a great place to study, gyms and other study spaces. Accommodation clean and tidy.

Campus and facilities are nice, course is ok. Not been at the university that long, but from first impressions, Northumbria is better

Newcastle as a city allows you to have the best student lifestyle due to the low living costs and the cheap booze!! Geordies are genuinely the friendliest people you'll meet anywhere!!

Best uni ever. Staff is extremely helpful lots of activities and loads of study space. Lectures are well structured and it is so nice in labs as equipment is brand new

Medicine course is what I do it's really good. The uni lecturers are helpful if you need to ask them something and there's so many resources available. The city is a good place to live. The metro centre is a 10min bus away and is the biggest shopping centre in Europe so great for that. Lots of good places to eat.

Newcastle as a city / campus is amazing - the city has the ability to make everyone feel at home. There's loads to do, great transport links and it's a beautiful place. The campus is all relatively close together, with a choice of at least 4 libraries, nice lecture venues and a wide range of eating facilities, it's got everything you need. Personally, I haven't had much interaction with the student union but there are a wide range of clubs and societies to get involved with. I have only visited the careers service once and found it useful to say it was my first time visiting, however it took me multiple visits to the career department to actually get an appointment as it is a drop in facility that doesn't have very long opening hours - it always seems to be busy with a long wait. One of my friends waited 3 weeks for an appointment. I'm studying Law LLB currently at stage 3. My overall experience towards my course has been quite negative. This is mostly due to the staff - a lot of lecturers have poor ways of teaching, refuse to use recap, don't give you any help when you ask for it and instead make you feel a bit stupid. The structures of most of the modules are bad, with a lot of deadline clashes, unstructured material that isn't explained properly, and little to no coursework guidance. During last years exam season we even received an email from one lecturer asking students not to 'bother' another lecturer as they were on study leave and were unable to help us - conveniently the whole exam period, even though they were the main lecturer for that module. Throughout my nearly 3 years on the course I am still yet to receive a simple 'well done' from any member of staff, immense efforts tend to go unnoticed and there is instead a basic expectation that all students keep up with and complete an inhuman amount of work. I can honestly say I have tried my best on the course and my efforts are not reflected through my marks - this course is impossible.

Amazing campus with beautiful buildings. Student union is a nice place to hangout between classes. Business school is a bit far, would be nice if it was more in the centre of the campus. Very happy with my course - Marketing BSc

A really pretty campus, spaced out to say it's on the centre of a city too most buildings have their own computer cluster/common room. Timetables are not too packed and student accommodations are on the whole very close to uni. One thing it lacks is communication with students on the functionality of how everything works, the required grades for every year and the details/intricacies of the course. This all has to be found out from peers which is not always the most reliable source.

I do History and Politics and the lecturers are all fantastic and are clearly experts in their respective fields, which really makes a difference in lectures and feedback. In terms of learning environments the facilities are top class. Three excellent libraries, computers to use, laptops, research tools etc. The careers service is also one of the best in the country

My halls of residence were unforgettable making friends I will cherish for a life time! My course is tough but a valuable degree that'll help massively with getting a job.

Newcastle is a great uni for students that like a casual vibe and enjoy good social life. Even if you're not into much of a social life there are plenty of other things to do. The main issue with Newcastle is their lack of facilities, for example the sport facility is very small with the gym being pathetic.

Good city to live in, made good friends here. Buildings are out dated and could do with being modernises

Nice small pretty campus. Decent sports facilities. Human Geography course taught really well. Student union and library very nice with lots of space for studying. Uni timetabling is very organized.

Good university experience, helpful in the student union. Very inclusive in the societies it offers, something for everyone. Good facilities within the union offering a variety of places to study as well as to relax.

It was decent. Felt like could've been arranged better it was very messy with freshers having to sign up very early in the morning for almost activities if they even wanted a chance at getting a slot for the day. Clubs on offer for the night out was okay... often barely used because there were a lot better clubs out there. Food provided was okay a bit lower on the quality scale considering we paid £65 for the whole week I think I expected much more. Overeall my experience with freshers was a good one, however I feel like a lot more could've been done a lot better. Would like to see a wider range of activities next year with a better system for people to sign up and attend. It was decent. The facilities are really good. Lots of sports and clubs, however the societies could be a bit better managed and do more activities. Student union is good but could also do more events. Campus is really pretty and nice to be around. Always a place to work or sit and relax.

Good university, great friendly and welcoming staff. Lecturers work hard to help you learn and ensure you have all of the essential tools that can be transferred In to your working life after uni

Nice campus, recap is bless. Lectures can be difficult to follow at times. City nightlife makes up for the shortcomings of the university

Very welcoming campus which is always thriving. Made me feel at home within the first week. University also provides lots of support with students to ensure everyone is doing well and enjoying the university as well as seeing if they need any help

The campus is nice and compact so everything is within max 10 mins walking distance. I studied Modern Languages and there are excellent language facilities in the Language Resource Centre, which also serves as a great study space for language students as there are usually more free seats available than in the library.
