The University of Leicester

Campus is rather small and underdeveloped though I know by the time I left the student union was under refurbishment. The university is overall a bit quiet but with their large amounts of international students you often wonder where the money goes to since everything on campus including food and activities are way over priced and the gym is underwhelming with the smallest weights area. Positive point is good library. Some of the staff here are obviously under qualified to mark/lecture. Went though a complaints procedure with other students since she couldn’t supervise our dissertation properly. Teaching is okay depending on which lecturer you get.

overall a good uni, good student academic support and generally good lecturers in the law department. Some buildings could be more modern but there is construction undergoing. Okay atmosphere but accommodation options are limited/ too far away.

The campus has loads of space and is continuously being rebuilt into a more modern setting. The facilities at the uni are also good with loads of computers, laptops and other resources. Although the course I study (Psychology) has a lot of content I find it interesting. The student union always make sure to respond to student enquires and can be of good help in situations where lecturers can not help.

There are many facilities on campus such as a gym, 24 hour library and a varied careers service. The downside is the food, There is not a wife variety of options and food is expensive. Campus is big which is nice but can be a bit creepy during the night. Also accommodation is pretty limited and expensive and there are not many options that are super close to uni.

The university can be badly organised, in particular with my course where lecturers can sometimes be unresponsive during periods where we need help with assignments or exam preparation. The student union can get ridiculously busy especially during lunch time so finding a seat is always a struggle. I feel a lot of the money spent in the years that I have been there have been spent in all the wrong places - for example, it is spent on decorative purposes rather than improving the practicality of the university ie expanding lecture theatres/library, as there are not enough spaces for all students, more options for food etc. Overall the university is good but a lot of improvement is needed.

I think the lecturers are very average, but the student union is pretty good. the careers services are good if used but a lot of people don’t seem to. the gym is good but super expensive and annoying because you have to pay for the gym to join sports societies

Fully enjoyed my course here, but I believe each experience will differ on department. The activities and events Leicester provides is outstanding. The problem everyone has is how expensive it is. Prices for the same food and drink products differ across the university, meaning you could end up paying over five pounds each day for your lunch alone. The university services need tailoring or more money needs to be invested into them. Students can end up waiting 6 months to see a wellbeing officer or just to talk to anyone about mental health issues.

Social life is great however the teaching is very poor. Some lecturers cannot speak fluent english and are very harsh at grading students.

I study media but contact hours are very less and I don't think I learn enough relevant things to apply for good jobs. The course is so broad. So getting summer experience is essential. The union is nice and lively. They try to get things done and it's good if you take advantage of all the free stufd they give time to time. The campus is also pretty nice and decent sized. Food isn't that cheap if you eat on campus often. Gym also isn't very cheap now.

There's one main campus so it's easy to get to all uni facilities. The location is just a 10 minutes walk from the city center. The university in general is quite unorganised with exam dates and assignments, which are given only a week from holidays starting. The library is the best building and facility on campus. The su features a variety of food available, however it is pricy.

One of my uni’s main selling points is that it’s culturally diverse and inclusive... but I haven’t found that it is.

It's a good university until it comes to problems or mishaps. The university (school office) doesn't know how to deal with cases on an individual basis. Additionally if they double checked their work and publishings before they made them public there would be less problems in the first place.

The campus is not that great in terms if how modern it feels and looks and is quite small, doesn't bother me but if you're looking for the state-of-the-art facilities, don't come here. The student union is great, there's a starbucks on campus at the su and the su are great at fighting for things for students. Careers servicez are also really helpful
