The campus at Essex University is fairly big, spread over a number of layers and has a good selections of cafes and restaurants, a student union bar, launderette, post office, travel centre, student centre, book shop, and general shops. There could be a greater selection in the shops, but the restaurants offer a wide range of different cuisine. The student union offer opportunities for student jobs on campus, socials and nights out, sports and new hobbies and clubs/ memberships for students to join. The nursing course has been extremely well structured and organised, with knowledgeable lecturers, good facilities for nursing skills, and a good variety of modules and lectures to offer holistic nursing knowledge.

My course is unorganised, many have tried to change courses but were only allowed to do so after the year was done. Socieites are really good. But there is hardly any nightlife, and the ones that are there can be quite expensive.

Makes you wonder if you should of gone to another university, nightlife isnt good only have one club in town and still manages to play bad music and of course campus student union is the smallest club, just lacks diversity

I am a first year student that commutes to the University and I find it difficult to fault the University. Everybody is extremely helpful the first month of becoming a student. The lectures and classes are well organised and I have not had a lecture or class cancelled, excluding some during strike action There are numerous facilities available to students, especially educational based resources. I would definitely recommend the university for others to study at.

The campus is truly beautiful because its basically a mini town on its own. It has all the facilities you need. My course which is part of the CSEE department is great. All the lecturers are very helpful and give you great advice. The student union is very hands on and is always willing to listen to the what the students have to say and make sure they work towards achieving those things Overall the experience has been great, I've gotten great support and I will truly miss the university life

Accommodation is expensive but seeing as it is on campus and there are housekeeper that kind of makes up for it. The campus and facilities are quite dated and this is not clear on the website. This is especially misleading to international students who come to the UK to work towards their degree and unlock amazing opportunities...

There’s no other uni like Essex. You can literally find anything on campus. You can go to the salon and get your nails done, look for a house on campus and get some really good food on campus

The campus area is fill with facilities made for students, amazing environment around the campus. The kitchen coffees are the most amazing thing in the campus! Also the kick ass burger in SU Bar.

The university has all the right facilities you need! The course I am doing is great! However the foundation year is not at all linked to my actual course subject for next year which is very annoying!

East 15 acting school is going places pushing potential talent to real talent. The elitist institution will produce more successful artists than other drama schools

It’s great! Essex campus is very lively with something going on in squares everyday...the facilities are constantly developing with new Halls of Residence up and coming and the newly built sports centre.

Wonderful facilities, kind and helpful staff. Many say the buildings are ugly but I love them, especially they’re charming and beautiful in their own way.

Not the best university for education. The departments are rather unsupportive and have little care for students. However knowing what I do now, I would not have gone anywhere else as the opportunities that are available through the SU and careers centres are incredible and I have gained a lot more than just a degree through my time here.

I really like University of Essex. They have a lot of international students so it’s interesting to learn about different cultures. Also I enjoy going to lectures because Departament of Government lecturers are the best.

The campus might not be the most beautiful, but the facilities are very good. The library is huge with loads of seating (this is a big deal!) and the gym is really good.

Good friendly atmosphere. Lots to do on campus including many places to eat, convienience stores, a salon, multiple bars and a club as well as two banks and a cinema.

I came to Essex because I had a child and was not able to travel far from home. Now I regret that decision severely. I was having issues with reading so I asked for a dislexia test. 5 months and £345 later I got one that told me I was dislexic. I study law and lw109 makes it extremely difficult by only teaching through independent reading of articles. I have struggled with the amount and therefore went to see the module leader and he told me that its tough and that's the way the module is. This is a ridiculous excuse of a university.

The university itself is a very good uni and a in my opinion one of the best in the country, the student halls however are dirty and the courses are in no way structured well if you do not stay in student accommodation, the uni offers little to no help to students who have genuine issues

The uni offers a lot of opportunities and extra-curriculum activities for you to improve your cv and gain experience. The student support services are very good and the staff are nice and helpful too. There are plenty of facilities and most importantly, plenty of places for students to study. Also, the Student Union is really active and beneficial for us students.
