The University of East Anglia

The university was not my cup of tea. I appreciate it may have been perfect for other students but I found it hard to navigate my way- both geographically and socially. I felt like there were few people to seek guidance from with personal problems and that the accommodation on site was too unaffordable.

UEA is an amazing campus full of bunnies and really nice people, there’s always something to do and is one of the universities with more clubs and societies of the U.K.

UEA has a wonderfully unique campus and some completely beautiful architecture such as the Ziggurats accommodation and the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.

The Employability Strategy at the University of East Anglia means that the most is made of students time whilst studying to prepare them for the world after graduating. Many opportunities are given for individuals to improve their skills in presenting, communication and team working through tailored courses and a chance for many to carry out a work placement locally or abroad. After graduation the university also continues to give help to former students in their chosen careers and increase their chances of employability.

The career services at my university are excellent with lots of events and support given. The campus is large, I used to be put off by the concrete jungle aspect but I now love the way it juxtaposes with the green landscape.

The accommodation is just awful. The kitchens are appalling and have very few facilities, yet they are a crazy price. Whilst there are facilities on the campus, there are not enough. For example, there is only one small, overpriced food shop and the laundrette services are appallingly unreliable. My course is very interesting but in reality is now different from how it's advertised beforehand- for example 2/3rd of my modules for next year are compulsory and I thought I would have more freedom to choose.

Campus life is great, you can get involved in so many societies and clubs where you can make more friends outside of you course or housemates. Also the accommodation on offer ranges, in particular the ziggurat is a great place to stay because it is located near most school buildings, it looks great,(especially the windows of the kitchen) although you have to get used to the stairs. I do think there needs to be more information about the range of help regarding students course. The nightlife is what you make of it, as there is only a few clubs but the uni lcr can be good especially because the music played is popular and they play music that caters to most people.

Whilst the university itself consists of mainly grey, drab buildings on the outside, inside there are many modern facilities and labs. I think the feedback that we get on work is really good and it really helps me to improve in future pieces of work. All my lecturers are really friendly and approachable if you have any problems and you can always email and then will get straight back to you. The nightlife is good with the LCR being a good night out even if it is not the best but the atmosphere inside makes up for that. My only complaint is the accomodation. I love my bedroom but the kitchen is horrible and industrial and doesn't even have an oven which, in my opinion, is such a basic need. My other complaint, which whilst it has nothing to do with the uni as it is an external company, is the launderettes. At one point this year we had 3 machines working for thousands of students which is simply unacceptable. However, I do love UEA and I feel a real sense of pride for my uni.

the campus has a great set up to, where it provides everything you need in your day to day life in a familiar environment, it is the heart of the university and provides a beacon for students to spend their time

The university buildings are limited in space - I study English Literature with Creative Writing but have had seminars in the chemistry block and the sports building. Saying that though, the course is excellent (despite the limited contact hours) and the social element is too.

Great lecture theatres, great famous although it's quite far from the city centre. My course is great and they provide you with an advisor who is always their if you need help. Nightlife isn't amazing but they do try. The union is abit expensive generally and they could do more to make it cheaper

Community feel to the campus with a lot of student facilities. The library has a lot of rooms both for group study and individual study, in silent areas and ones that allow talking. There’s a lot of places to eat which include vegan and vegetarian options which I found extremely helpful. There’s also events organized very often which prevents you from getting bored. The sportspark at UEA also offers very great facilities such as a gym, climbing wall and pool as well as exercise classes which I frequent very often as it’s a great and easy way to get in shape.

Campus is excellent, though a little outdated, easy access and lots of freedom. Not great with mental health issues, but supportive if required.

UEA is an interesting University. The exteriors of its buildings remind one of being in a prison, not that I’ve been inside one. But that shouldn’t mean it’s a bad University, it’s actually rather good. There are a lot of things that let it down considerably but it’s overall a lovely place to be

Best uni ever! Nightlife was amazing. Facilities were great! I miss the LCR! Pharmacy is one of the best courses on offer, the teaching is superb. Sport at UEA is brilliant and very inclusive.

Overall fairly decent, it could be majorly improved by free printing as printing does cost a lot now days and you pay a great amount of money each year towards your education and would expect printing to be free.

It’s a good uni experience wasn’t expecting the uni to be as diverse as it is which was a very welcomed surprise.

Nice campus, good student union, good course, library needs expanding. The sports park is one of the main perks as it is big and offers lots of facilities for a wide variety of sports.

The careers service at uea is really great and offers a lot of events and opportunities for students. The course generally is good but there are some inconsistencies with information and organisation.
