University of Bristol

The knowledge of lecturers is impeccable, I study physiology and many of the lecturers are top global researchers and are very good at explaining concepts. However, in particular units it had been difficult to get help when necessary, which has caused extra stress. The university is not good for students who are trying to save money as all the cafes are expensive, some university’s reduce prices for students. The refectory which was the only place that use to do cheap hot meals has been changed into a study space meaning there is now only the SU which is a walk away from the main campus. I find the way parts of the university are quite unfriendly, for instance Beacon house has signs up in the cafe saying if you don’t purchase anything you cannot sit in the cafe. This is despite it being attached to a university library and is a university building. The university has an alarmingly high suicide rate which is no surprise considering how the institution is run by those at the top. Having said this I have really enjoyed my course which is why you are there.

Lovely campus, has a small feel but is quite big. Facilities are great, highlight is wills memorial building. Law is generally well taught, interesting lecturers.

Bristol uni is great for students who want to study at a top university without sacrificing their social life. The nightlife in Bristol is great and it is home to one of the best clubs in the country, Motion. As a city Bristol is vibrant and exciting, with pretty much everything within walking distance. The university sports teams do very well in BUCS and Bristol graduates are consistently targeted by top employers. However, the university often struggles to deal with mental health issues and the facilities and resources provided are not enough. Similarly the administration is often lacking in promptness with issues regarding examinations and general university life. Overall though it is a great place to study.

The teaching of my course (English BA) left much to be desired: there were few contact hours from which you had time to actually meet anyone of your course, the content was very uninspiring and not very progressive and the feedback from the tutors was often extremely unhelpful and on the odd occasion rude. I didn't know anyone that actually participated in the student union events - I wouldn't say the SU is as important for Bristol as it is for other universities because there's already so much going on in Bristol. The sports facilities were an elitist joke with memberships out pricing working class students. However, I've heard that there have been some measures taken to accommodate less advantaged students recently.

Bristol is such a friendly uni, and being in a city means there is so much to do! Societies have possibly been the best part of my uni experience, Pole Fitness in particular was amazing for building strength, meeting new people and gaining confidence :)

The campus space is absolutely maxing, really positive work environment and plenty of places to work in quite areas. I am studying film and I enjoy everyday of my course, the teachers and lecturers have a lot of time for individual students which is key as one on one time is really important. The facilities are excellent and using industry level cameras allows us to have a up to date knowledge of the industry when we go into it ourselves.

Great campus very vibrant and friendly! Love the interaction between different subjects, so we can get a mix of students joining in on the activities the student union plans for us!

The University Campus is beautiful, newly renovated, the teachers are all very helpful and want us to succeed. The best university!

On the whole the uni experience was good. Staff were supportive, as were library / careers staff etc. Mental health facilities and personal support POOR. Course at times boring and lacked contact hours.

I’ve studied here for 2 years now, it’s been a fabulous experience so far. As I’m an international student from Asia, initially I thought I couldn’t fit in this new environment, but time proved me wrong. Everyone I met from here is friendly and easygoing, I’ve made a great bunch of friends, either local or international. Bristol is a diverse city, it’s got loads of brilliant restaurants, pubs and nightclubs. The triangle area near Clifton is always a good place for a night out. I love this city and uni so much.

Amazing student city and brilliant campus with plenty of university resources such a land libraries, study areas, cafes etc etc. Not technically a campus uni but still has the collegiate system and the fun social setting of a campus uni. Newly renovated student uni is also brilliant, and careers service is super helpful and always putting on free events to help prepare students for interviews/applications.

In terms of facilities are not willing to give necessary feedback. In terms of facilities, services and networking work gets a bit repetitive and boring. Some tutors are great, getting CV and networking work gets a very interesting around campus is relatively easy. It can be hard finding people to fit in with because it is always hosting around campus is relatively easy. Generally an excellent place. The university is really letting itself down by changing pastoral care system. It will really destroy the halls experience, and the overall experience. Mental health provisions are also unacceptable.

I completed my Masters from UoB in Wireless Communications and Signal Processing in 2012-13. It was an intensive course with 13 examinations, 11 were written, 1 coursework and 1 dissertation. It was a great experience over all although I felt I would have benefited more with more labs and semester exam pattern instead of 11 exams in less than a month.

High quality education. Very helpful and understanding support staff especially when it comes to mental health. Great mental health care available.

Best choice for a 'smalltown boy' student. Halls are decent, libraries are simply beautiful, the city is full of kind and loving spirits. But I fancy it for something more than this. DIVERSITY

Yeah, it's pretty good. The strike really messed things up this term, but my tutors have done their best to pull it back. Some of the facilities could be better, but overall it's been great.

Amazing campus, wonderful staff and just a very supportive atmosphere overall. I went to Imperial College before here and Bristol is a thousand times better! On top of the university you are surrounded by a lovely city with plenty to do!

I really enjoyed the university, it's not a full on campus so you don't feel like you're living in a bubble, the city always has stuff going on. There's a society for anything you're interested in and the teaching was really interesting. I would definitely recommend it.

the actual university campus is nice but they care too much about the reputation of it being a russell group university to actually put any effort into how good it is for the students. from my experience of an arts course, it's pretty unorganised, they deceive you in what the course actually entails and overall the help from the staff is minimal..

The campus is okay but not always enough places to study during exam season. The students union is modern and has a lot of good facilities including a good swimming pool.

A really great university, at least for science subjects. Have a lot of fun learning Neuroscience! I was sure that I will hate pharmacology unit, but the lecturers and structure of this unit made me fell in love with it. Although, there are a few lecturers that upload tasks one day before we need to check it or some that don't say what we really need to learn, so we have to learn about 20 new drugs each lecture just to be safe.

My favourite things about Bristol are the many events put on - the talks especially are of high quality and are really informative! It also has heaps of places to study that range from silent to more cafe areas where you can discuss things. The campus is spread out with lots of green places to relax and have a break :)

Student union not the best but otherwise great uni. Campus in perfect location and quality of courses is amazing.
