Health and science is all we do. Our campus is unique. We specialise in healthcare, science and medicine. We are also the only university embedded in a hospital, sharing a site with St George's Hospital.

Our facilities are first-rate, offering access to state-of-the-art clinical and scientific educational resources.

For a small university, our teaching staff are big on experience. Many of them hold clinical roles in the NHS or private clinics, or have previously worked as healthcare professionals. They provide world-class learning and their experiences in the real world will hugely enrich your development.

Our students love making the most of the cultural and educational opportunities in nearby central London, enjoying quick and easy access to theatres, museums, markets, galleries, shopping and sporting venues.

Closer to home, our local neighbourhood of Tooting is a thriving, cultural melting pot and a fantastic place to live, with fresh food markets and a range of exciting places to meet, eat and enjoy great bargain shopping.

Nightlife

Tooting is a lively and affordable place to live in London, brimming with independent coffee houses, artisan pubs, and South Indian restaurants. Due to this buzz it was named one of the world's coolest neighbourhoods by Lonely Planet in August 2017, owing its vibrancy to its multicultural population and still-visible heritage.

The area is home to several gastropubs and quirky bars including Tooting Tram and Social - a converted tram shed which is a great option for late night drinks and dancing. The Castle pub has a garden area, perfect for summer evenings, whilst The Selkirk SW17 hosts live music and quiz nights.

We are also a short walk away from Tooting Broadway Tube station which means that central London and all it has to offer is only a 20 minute journey away. There are two night buses that run all night, and the Tube is now open all night on Fridays and Saturdays.

Halls of residence

Our main accommodation hub, Horton Halls, offers real value for money, and is among the newest and most competitively priced student accommodation in London.

The halls house 486 students in self-catering single study/bedrooms with en-suite facilities. Bedrooms are grouped into apartments with between three and eight students sharing a well-equipped kitchen and dining area.

There are laundry facilities on-site, secure storage for 200 bikes and a secure reception manned 24 hours a day.

Location

Tooting is well-connected with two tube stations, one train station and multiple bus routes.

A 20-minute journey on the northern line (underground) will take you directly to Waterloo.

There are two-night buses that run all night, and the tube is also open all night on Friday and Saturday offering easy access to London's nightlife.

Many other vibrant areas of South West London are within easy reach including Brixton, Clapham, Balham and Wimbledon.

Clubs and societies

St George's Students' Union is a great way of getting involved in wider university life and extracurricular activities. Our SU offers over 120 clubs, societies and community projects that you can get involved with at any time during your studies.

Sports clubs include Climbing Society, Ski and Snowboard Club, Yoga, Jiu-Jitsu to name a few, whilst societies cover a range of academic, cultural, religious and "just for fun" interests.

The SU also has a large and recently refurbished bar which hosts regular events including club nights, sports, quizzes, socials and film screenings.

Freshers' week

Our students' union will distribute a guide to freshers' fortnight. This guide will include information on all the events and socials in the first two weeks as well as a guide to our Freshers' Fayre.

Freshers' Fayre is a great opportunity to get involved. Want to learn the guitar? What about pursuing rugby, rowing or cheerleading? You can at St George's.

I think the overall university is reputable and very good, academic wise. The actual campus is okay, it is a bit old and could be improved, however some parts have been newly done so they are better. The library space is quite small considering there are many students, and especially during exam season, there is no space to revise in the library. I think the lecturers are okay but there is a lack of organisation sometimes when it comes to certain things. I.e picking up placement uniform, exam results.

I have found my experience at St George’s, University of London to be very enjoyable thus far. The university is incredibly ethnically diverse and the faculty are all well invested in our educations.
