Sheffield Hallam University

Diversity, plenty of different kinds of people to meet and a variety of activites in the university that encourage you to find each other. The course for screenwriting is great, however I have removed two stars for significant reasons; screenwriting staff should receive the same entitlement to film equipment as the other faculties, some of the staff don't know how to give critical and respectful feedback to assignments, and there needs to be more music facilities and activities for Sheffield of all cities. The music society is weak and there are no practice rooms, studios or major events other than a typically empty open mic event at the union bar.

I am in my second year of Psychology at Sheffield Hallam. I am based at Collegiate Campus. The campus includes various study buildings, a library and a gym however these are very small and during studying hours (9-5) I struggle to find a space to workout or study. However, the course itself is very interesting and includes a lot of practical work which is the way I learn best. The lecturers are always there to help and provide you with as much research as they can to help you succeed in your assignments.

two campuses, both really up to date with loads of resources, the city is great and the university make you feel welcome and the teaching is spot on, only down side, more money should be spent on the student union

Course is perfect for me as it allows me to gain a large range of skills through different modules and the staff are all really helpful. The student union is great but I’d prefer if they played music as it gets dull when playing pool upstairs with no music on haha and the building could do with a makeup as I’m not a fan of the colour

Had a good time at Sheffield Hallam. A very vibrant city with something for everyone. You get out what you put in. Course was good, made a friend.

The university experience and education support was brilliant. All my lecturers were incredibly experienced and supportive. I have found the university struggle to support alumni and a university I am keen to work for have made it seem near enough impossible to work for.

Great campus at collegiate, all buildings in a close range so great for getting from one building to another. Timetable could be better. Often in for one hour a day and then have a five hour gap the next day. Majority of teaching staff and lovely and supportive. Would recommend this university to potential students

I have been there 4 years and have enjoyed it for the most part. Aside from the obvious stress from coursework the course has been great. The people on the course have been excellent and as a result of that I have made new friends. There are a lot of places in and around the uni to go about and socialise with fellow peers and have a good time. The lecturers have been so helpful and I have never had a problem with any of them. With only the slight hiccup every now and then and that only being my course in particular it has so far been a great experience and I would recommend this uni to anyone applying.

Sheffield Hallam is a very welcoming University with a great campus and new education building. The societies are so welcoming and inviting and so are the staff and other students.

I study mechanical engineering and the facilities provided for students in my faculty are excellent. My only negative regarding the facilities is the availability of specialist software which is quite limited. The careers service have helped me enormously during my time at the university, aiding me in honing my employability skills and assisting in successfully applying for a placement. The university students union is not so good. It is very small and ill equipped compared to other universities I have visited. Overall however I am happy with my experience at Hallam and I would recommend it to others.

Facilities at university are pretty good, they have almost anything you could ask for! Students union is okay could do with more events on during the week like what other universities do with student nights. Careers and student support services are fantastic! They go out of their way to help you out couldn't ask for better advice. Some of the campus builds could do with updating but the newer ones are great! The course I'm studying has great tutors and very supportful.

The university itself is pretty great! Especially with my course I'm given a lot of guidance and there's a lot of communication from the careers department who're always sending out emails regarding career fairs or opportunities that otherwise wouldn't be known about. The campus itself is split into two: city and collegiate and both are of excellent standard, however, my course does require me to be 100% at collegiate but I have spend time in the city campus library which is huge and both will have the books required or extra reading that could be utilised.

My course is excellent, all of the staff are professionals in that area and make lectures both useful and interesting. The only down side is the students union which is a little small and does not offer a wide range of things to do but that is just a minor detail.

The university offers everything a student needs- from learning spaces and computers to activities aimed at integrating new comers. The main campus has a well-equipped library, although it can get very busy around the exam period so you'll have to book your space online. There are also two gym facilities at both campuses to keep you in shape and sports events such as netball and basketball for everyone to attend. Everyone is there to help you, all you have to do is ask!

An extremely well equipped and welcoming university that has brilliant librarys facilities and student support services. Leisure facilities such as cafe's and quiet study areas are very good and gyms at both campuses are great!

Over all this university is a good one to go to, it's has some amazing staff and some amazing opportunity's, however I am doing foundation year and have found at points it has been very unorganised and aspect of it make it very clear that it's a business first and formost. Despite this I have fully enjoyed my first year here and can't wait to progress onto starting my full degree.

Collegiate campus is nice and facilities are good however in term time it can be very busy, can be difficult to find a desk in library if during busy times. I really enjoy the course and lecturers have been supportive. Being at collegiate campus means I have not used the student union building.

Most of the campus facilities are fairly new. Stoddart building (Sheffield Business School) is the building that I have most my lectures and seminars at. The building is not the most modern but it still has everything required for a suitable learning environment.

2 great campuses spread across the city, this means there are students everywhere and not just in one area. The kitchens and labs are better than in industry and allow you to create whatever products you want. The student union could be improved as it doesn't have a club, the only time I have been is for the careers fair

The university has got a descent lifestyle for an excelling mind. The tutors are rully engaged in helping us stay motivated. One clarification that's needed is about the university free software. That software can be accessed on appsanywhere.com but that only if one is using a computer on the university or in the library. I just wish we could access that webpage from our computers too.

Overall a really nice uni in a nice city and enviroment . Not too hard and has good ratings over all . Sports facilities are one of the best in the uk. The only issue is with international students they're treated awfully to be honest
