I studied in the EECS department of QMUL. Pretty terrible and definitely not worth your £9k. No money is being used to develop the facilities nor invest in students' educations.

Staff is incredibly disinterested and unprofessional. Some lecturers don’t seem to know a thing about what they are teaching and the assistants are usually postgraduates which are cleary there just as a filler for their cv or project. The library is full most of the time and most labs have an open plan layout, making them way too noisy. Exam set up is old fashioned, they usually throw a bunch of cheap tables and chairs in a theatre and call it an exam room. Doing this a room which was clearly not design for exam sessions bears a price, most desks are wabbly and uncomfortable, and the noise level is unbearable.

The campus is in a Zone 2 location in London relatively close to central. My lecturers were relatively helpful however the welfare support team handles students very badly. They don’t really listen to student’s problems and just want to push them away. Very rude and rigid. Its a good university but the staff could have more compassion.

Queen Mary University of London is only ideal because of it’s location. I spent 3 years there doing economics and I don’t have that much good thing to say about the teaching staff. The classes are taken by international Phd students. They have no teaching experience, so they basically jot down things on the board which you copy onto your notebook. They don’t have the capability to clarify any questions in class. Further more all the teaching staff including lectureres have atrocious English speaking capabilities! All of them have a thick accent and pronounce things differently and speak too fast! This makes it very hard to grasp what they are trying to say. Also you can expect no help in terms of the lectures explaining the marking criteria. They will not release past solved papers nor tell you exactly what they want from you in order to achieve the highest marks. It’s up to you to figure out how the lectures want the questions answered and all 8 lectures of the semester will expect different styles of answers. The only thing great about the uni is the campus. It’s has a wholesome campus feeling within central London which is the only one of it’s kind. There are bars, restaurants, grocery stores, book shops, bank and coffee places inside campus. The library is also pretty good
