Heriot-Watt University

The campus is beautiful in the sun and provides multiple study spaces and resources for students. The faculty for interpretation and translation has equipment that is unrivaled by other universities in the UK including replicas of the booths used at UN meetings. It could improve by showing more organisation when it comes to giving back grades and by installing more water fountains around the campus. Overall it is an excellent environment for learning with great faculty members and equipment.

I really enjoy going to Heriot watt. It’s been very inclusive since I arrived. The lecturers are very helpful and inviting if you have any questions and they always do their best to help you

Really good Actuarial science course. Professors are helpful and they guide us well. Although it is very stressful, it is worth it as we can get professional exemptions when we’re done with it.

Heriot watt is a good university in terms of academics however it is not located in a prime location and is mission to get to, if heriot watt was located in Edinburgh centre, it would be so much more better

I love living at Heriot watt, great community feeling. The positive "vibe" helps me to enjoy my course due to never feeling I need to struggle alone. The halls are lovely which just adds to my comfort of my freshers experience

The campus is absolutely beautiful and in a fantastic location for travel, right next to the M8 and it has a whole load of buses that pass through. It really gains its stars from its global opportunities which enable students to travel to Dubai and Malaysia for a semester or a year. this is a fantastic opportunity. The lecturers are a little varied in quality although overall I have learnt a lot at this university, having a few great lecturers. Where it could improve is certainly the pricing on campus, it is extortionate around the catering facilities other than the union pub. Furthermore, parking can be a pain.

It's not always the most modern but it's a good campus. The new learning commons facilities are great places to study and the library is being rennovated.

My university is a campus style university just outside of the city centre. I never imagined myself going to this style of uni but I actually love it. The grounds are really nice and peaceful. When you live on campus there is a really nice atmosphere amongst the students. The student union is really small and I wouldn’t recommend it for nights out but there are events if that interests you eg. Eurovision and football games

Heriot Watt has an amazing campus situated in the capital city of Scotland. It doesn't have a big name but it has a down to earth, friendly feel. The size of the university means that most people find it easy to make friends whether in halls, on their course or in societies.

nice and quiet campus, good learning facilities. very international. interesting programme, however i hoped we would gain a deeper and more detailed understanding and more business insights.

Had such an amazing time here! The student union should be used by freshers when they get a chance. As soon as you move out of halls it's so far away no one ever wants to go, unless you've just finished your exams for the semester. They're getting through a lot of refurbishments at the moment, library should be amazing this time next year and sports societies are a great way to get to know literally everyone. Anyone i've met on a sports team knows everyone else on any other sports team. It's a great campus uni, you get lost, but it's all so contained. The careers service is so useful! So many events and emails with job opportunities. They have an online booking system so you can organise appointments without an awkward email exchange. Maths, my course, definitely put emphasis on careers services, with two courses, one in first year, one in third year being partially run by our careers advisor. Also, the Scotland rugby team train on campus, as do Hearts football club

Overall: Very good Location- A bit out of the way in terms of location as it is a 40 minute bus journey into the centre of town. Halls- Expensive for what you get but very close to the university buildings and where mit people stay in their first year.

I am doing MSc in construction project management. Its relatively not that hard as a program, however the way they explain is not the best, so be prepared for self studying. Value for money is great, being the no.2 for this module across the uk with way lower tution fees and living expenses than that of london or oxford. Edinburgh is a very lovely city, people are generally kind but majority on the older side. It pretty chill however, lot of bars, clubs and restaurants for both students and fancier options. Good sightseeing and hiking options, doesnt rain as much as expected, however its mostly the wind thats the problem.

The fact that Heriot-watt is campus based has a good feel to it! Makes you feel involved! They have put in more study spaces which is great because the library just wasn't big enough, so no complaints now. Student union is not great and hasn't done anything to impact my (or most of my fellow students) life since I arrived 4 years ago.

The campus is on the outskirts of Edinburgh, really beautiful with surrounding woodland. Takes 30 minutes by bus to get into the endinburgh city centre. Edinburgh has a great nightlife whereas Heriot watt itself has hardly anything. The HW union has a cafe, bar, nightclub (hardly ever open) and pizza parlour. Courses re interesting but lecturers are not interested in teaching. Just read from the board and expect you to do most of the work yourself, many don’t bother showing up anymore.

Heriot-Watt is a good university for some courses but not for others. The Student Union isn’t the biggest and is a giant safety hazard but the Oriam is a great thing for sports.

The uni itself is brilliant. The lecturers are great, the knowledge they have is invaluable.the uni buildings are a bit old but rooms are being refurbished every year, adding sockets and computers etc as required. The campus is beautifully situated just on the outskirts of Edinburgh so is nice and peaceful yet easy to commute to and from the centre of Edinburgh due to the bus services. Oriam, a national sports facility has been built on campus in the last couple of years providing top of the arts equipment to use and therefore the sports clubs and facilities are incredible. I wouldnt choose another university!

Overall my time at the university has been an extremely awesome time. The experiences I have had during my time here has been of great benefit to my own personal development. The sports clubs and societies are very pleasant and have been a blast to experience and to be a part of.

Good facilities, more new facilities including library and classroom. Good food in Uni, but a little expensive.I really do love it! It’s such a warm welcoming community and makes me feel like I really belong here and it’s my home, as well as my ideal study space. Can’t beat it.At heriot-watt there are constant email updates about placements and career opportunities for us. There are weekly drop-in sessions in each department for those who want more of understanding of what they need to reach their dream job and also helps those who are unsure of their career paths. We have three careers fairs in the year (Autumn, Spring and Summer) in which we can meet prospective companies.Heriot-Watt is trialling a module called Personal Best which teaches us about key skills not only for our time at university but also for life beyond that. I think my Students' Union is the best union in the country for giving students opportunities to develop themselves professionally and socially outside of their course. The range of activities and events that is offered is incredible

The campus is amazing and contains all the facilities needed including a bank, hairdressers, sports centre, doctors, dentist etc. As well as that the campus has its own gardens and loch which make it pretty. The students union is descent and cheap enough with lots of events going on. And overall the course I did is rated the best in Scotland.

My uni is awsome

Absolutely fantastic university with superb engineering facilities in regards to both teaching and research with wondeful staff in all departments. Love heriot watt and all they have done for me.

Really enjoyed uni but my course, Physics, hasn’t given me the best start for work. Now I struggle as a graduate to find a career I’d be best suited too. My course had no guidance on the future choices for a career and now I feel very lost at what to do in the future.

I love the campus atmosphere which helps me as a first year settle better in uni whilst also separating my social and academic life. The campus being situated slightly away from the city centre also increases focus during study times whilst balancing your lifestyle. In addition the teaching is great and efficient as you are well monitored and help is always offered whenever and however suited best to each individual's needs.
