Edge Hill university is in Ormskirk, 15 miles from Liverpool. The University has a strong reputation for career-oriented practice-based professional education and is the largest provider of Initial Teacher Training in the UK. Edge Hill was founded in 1885 as the first non-denominational teacher training college for women, admitting 45 students. Since then it has grown to become an academic community of 10,000 full time students, a further 6,000 on part time professional development programmes and nearly 4,000 staff.
