James College

Really sociable Halls with good quality catered food. The rooms are of reasonable size but definitely worth having an ensuite as the shared bathrooms are not that clean. The collage has common room areas where you can hang out with your friends and play fun games with an Xbox and table tennis ect. Ideal location on campus especially if you take maths, physics or psychology. Very close to the gym and within a 5 minute walk to get the bus to town. I really enjoyed my time at james collage and love the collegial system as it’s such an easy way to meet lots of people.

James college has 3 quads and is in perfect distance to the sports centre- a mere 2 min walk at most!! Perfect for the gym and those involved in numerous sports societies, alongside also favouring psychology students who can roll out of bed and into lectures...Free breakfast and dinner are provided during the week and the permission to take 5 breakfast items usually accounts for lunch too minimising expenditure on food during the week. The social experience is fab with loads of quads mingling during freshers week and the committee putting on intercollegiate/block events every term.

The halls in James college were alright, though there were always silverfish hanging around, and an ant infestation the second year. When the fridge broke, it was replaced pretty swiftly which was great though.

The price is reasonable for what you get. I have a private room with a single bed and my own bathroom. The room is not too big but spacious enough for me to walk around comfortably and store my belongings (even my many pairs of shoes). The desk is especially great because it's huge so it's great for studying. The bathroom is tiny (barely bigger than a plane bathroom) and every time I take a shower, the whole bathroom floods. However I still appreciate having my own bathroom as opposed to having to share with other people.

Fairly large rooms with workable ensuite. Good catered food. Kitchen large and well equipped, however the boiler was in the kitchen which made in uninhabitable throughout the year due to being so hot.

James college is great aside from the economy shared block (famously known as Prison Block). Lots of fun events put on and it has a real community feel to It.

James college is an amazing choice for halls. It is fully catered - which means you save time. It very centrally located to everything on the main campuse. And it is a very inclusive and social college to be in. James colleges is a great hall to be in at the university of York

James college is the best halls on campus of these are your requirements. Catered Choice of economy or standard levels of living And very centrally located. Every hall is super social and allows for great interactions. The accomodations is close to everything on the main campus as well.

Currently living in James college N block and it is amazing for first year. The quality of the block itself is lacking but the people are great. The college in general is one of the better colleges at the university and it is very centrally located located in the main campus.
