Preseli No social space and no window in kitchen, rooms tiny and lots of problems with hot water etc

I was at Cefn Bryn in first year. I absolutely loved my bedroom! It was very big, I had a great desk and a good sized wardrobe. Overall, very happy with it. Sharing a bathroom with others wasn’t as bad as I thought, it was actually really easy. Never had any issues. The kitchen was massive, but I had to share it with 17 other people so it got very messy. As I am a very clean person, I often ended up washing up other people’s things which was very annoying. Good think about living with 17 people is that J was guaranteed to find people that I liked and got on well with. I made some really good friends. Unfortunately, there are also going to be people you don’t get on with very well, and some nights can get very loud. It was also the cheapest accommodation available. So overall I was very happy.

The campus is great. All hall residences are located 2 minute walk from lectures. Some of the buildings are dated but have all the nessacary equipment for your time at uni. The halls range from 4 people to 18 people in a flat and have accommodation to suit everyone some are en suite others share showers between 2-3 people. The cleaners clean the showers which aren’t en suite. The party life style in best lived up in the flats of 18 people and are great fun

Rooms are a good size. Bathrooms are always clean and the showers are hot and powerful. Kitchen is a little tight as 18 people share it and could do with a bigger seating area. Wifi is good all over campus.

Live at horton - lovely place however very overpriced for what it is. Things keep breaking (the life breaks atleast once every week) and the radiators dont work too well. Ensuite is lovely though and the rooms are decent sized.

Singleton Campus accommodation, although not as new as Bay Campus, is by far the priority accommodation students want to get if they're interested in student accommodation in their first year. Next the Swansea Bay, Singleton Park, the Sports Village and not too far from Uplands or the City Centre - everything a student needs is super accessible. The campus has facilities such as restaurants, bars, shops, a post office and laundry rooms so it's like a village in itself with a striving social life (mainly among first years). The accommodation itself varies from catered to non catered with 20 people sharing 2 bathrooms and 2 showers, to 8 people in a flat with ensuite bathrooms. I was lucky enough to receive an ensuite, quickly getting along so well with my 7 flatmates that we've now rented a house together for our second year. Student accommodation will never be perfect. But I've experienced it myself and visited others and want to say it will be whatever you make of it.

The location is perfect, it's so close to my lectures, seminars, student union etc. However, I share a very small kitchen with 18 other people. We cannot all eat in there at the same time and so there tends to be long queues for cooking.

The halls are great, clean and seriously secure to the point that if you loose your key you can't even access the staircase or the lift, ( so make sure not to forget your key) . The view it's so beautiful that you are motivated to wake up in the morning just to watch a sunrise by the park or the beach ( best view ever) they clean the kitchen once a week and empty the bins twice which I find great and the rooms are well heated so makes it even much comfortable when sleep ha ! Every is fun to be with and organised especially my flat we're clean and we need to agree at everything before doing it !

Awful!! Absolutely awful!! Hated every day of being in kilvey building!! Would never recommend anyone to stay in halls!! If it's not broken it's rubbish quality! Nothing works...simple things down to broken draws...

Decent room, the standards of the matinence are not good though, plenty of leaks in my flat and they're not dealt with in a decent amount of time. Also the kitchens a bit small. It's great as it's really close to the lecture rooms

Being on an high floor is great as I have views of the beach and the sea. Also being in a flat of 18 people is great as there is always someone around to talk to. It is really useful having an amazon locker and laundrette in the building. The location is also great as it's on campus and the person to toilet ratio is great.

Everything is very centralized, as long as you're focused in Singleton. If your courses are in Bay, it may be a bit too long. However, I loved having an ensuite room, with all bills, and kitchen trash removal and cleaning included in the bill. I did not have what I would think to be a 'true university experience', but that is probably more likely to be due to my introverted nature, and the fact that everyone on my hall were 'mature learners', so we didn't want to party and be crazy like most people think of. Overall, enjoyable, but maybe a bit overpriced if you're wanting to do things on both campuses.

It was an amazing place to meet people and have a great time all the time. It made student life so much easier living on campus. You could wake up late but still get to class on time. All the staff where helpful with all aspects of life too

Good size rooms in Horton Halls, with nice en suite. The kitchen is a little on the small side, but other than its okay. Nice location, in close proximity to the park, beach and uni buildings

Overall I think I am satisfy with living my first year of university at Swansea University in the Singleton Park campus. I live in a small room in a traditional en-suite style in Preseli. What I like best of my room is it’s view, I live on the top floor, and I could see the sea through my windows. However, having a room that is on the top floor facing the sea also result in extreme heat and Sunday’s during the days, and it could be unbearable during the summer times. The location of the halls is also really convenient, it is really close to the lecture theatres, library, laundrette, Singleton hospital etc.. And you can also travel by foot to the city centre or Uplands. A drawback of living in an old building would be that the facilities may not be as good. For example, the WiFi. I live in a flat of 20 people sharing two kitchens, which is fine and also that we could easily find someone to socialise with. However, there is no common room therefore we rely on our two kitchen to make most of our social interactions. Furthermore, there aren’t a single window in our kitchen and the ventilation is not working that well which makes it not very pleasant to stay in the kitchen during times where it’s really warm and when someone burnt their stuff or cook something really pungent. (We used to all cry when someone is cutting an onion in the kitchen). Overall, I do recommend first year students or exchange students living on the campus.

Bedrooms nice size with ensuit bathroom and lots of storage and desk space. Perfect location, can just roll out of bed for lectures, and have everything you need on campus. Can walk into town centre or a five min bus ride and a five minute walk to the beach is never a bad thing. The only bad thing is there was very little communal space, just the kitchen with uncomfortable chairs.

I have loved living in Halls on campus, easy to get to lectures and I got to live with other postgrad students. The ensuite was a good size but there could have been a better shelf/storage space inside. The kitchen has been fine and there is someone on reception 24/7.

Location wise, perfect. On campus, which has everything you need, if not the centre of town is only a short bus ride away. Beech on oneside, Singleton Park on the other. Security is good and always happy to help. Each flat had 8 rooms, all a decent size but apart from the kitchen, there was communal area and had hang out in either the long Hall way or each other rooms.

I've lived in halls for three years and very pleased with the room and the overall location of the buildings, making it easy to access services on campus. I also feel very safe and secure.

Rooms in penmaen were a lovely size, with en suite bathroom and plenty of storage space, however, kitchen was cold and only had table and plastic chairs, no sitting/living area!

I lived in Cefn Bryn on campus. Basic accommodation but very social. I lived with 18 other people. The building has a laundry room but it is quite expensive and the machines would always break. We had weekly cleaners, but they would never clean properly as the kitchen was ‘too dirty to clean’. Houses would be cheaper but not offer the same social life as halls. Close to library and shops. Shops on campus are really expensive.

I stayed in the Cefn Bryn building. Quite basic accommodation, espcially for the money. A house would be a lot cheaper. However, living in halls was a very social experience. The building is located only a few minutes away from the library and lecture theatres. The on-site shops are really expensive, so I didn’t shop there. The halls has a laundry room downstairs, which is pretty rubbish as it’s quite expensive and the machines would always break.
